In this video, I show you what happened during the week of my kidney transplant in hospital when my younger brother donated his kidney to me. See what happens day after day and how my recovery progresses throughout the week. The week is very emotional and I hope the video shows this.
I had to come into hospital on Sunday 9th December 2018 - the day before my transplant - to finalise all last minute paperwork and to prepare me for my transplant.
In the video it follows my journey day by day showing how much progress I make whilst recovering in hospital.
It then shows the amazing love and support i received from all my friends and family throughout the week, something I could not say thank you enough for!
The video wraps up by showing how my brother and I made it home for a lovely family Christmas and enduring easily the toughest week of my life.

So happy for you. You went home on a very special day to me. My husband had his 2nd transplant, June 1, 2016. Unfortunately, he had complications and passed on Dec 16, 2016. But even though that may be a sad deal, it is the day he became my angel. So the day you left after your transplant....puts a big and congratulatory smile on my face for you! God Bless

I also didn't like the idea of my brother being operated on, I was more concerned something would go wrong for him than it would for me. I got my kidney transplant done on 28th December 2018 my donor was my brother and i was very grateful to him i was undergoing dialysis for last 4 years and now am so happy that i can live my normal life all thanks to him and my family for their support. A person who goes through only they can understand the pain during that period of time and the happiness after a succesful transplant

I'm so happy for you and your family. I too am awaiting a living donor Kidney. I have done all of the pre testing to make sure that I am healthy enough for a transplant. So my wife and I have 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. My wife and sister inlaw and 4 other close friends who will all be tested. My brother can not be a donor as he has prostate cancer. I also had prostate cancer but had Radical prostate surgery and now I am cancer free. My brother also had the surgery but his was more advanced and he is not cancer free.
I told my Daughters that I would prefer they not donate because they all have small children and I just dont want to put them thru that kind of hardship. Our oldest son is a very busy Chef at a major resort and I dont want him to put his job on the line for me. Our my middle son lives in another state and has a young family and the financial hardship would just be to much for them right now. So my list seems to be getting shorter by the day. So i'm keeping my fingers crossed. God bless and enjoy your 2nd chance..

@@simranjeet3367 It was 13 years January 11th. I did dialysis for twenty years of my life from 8 years old to 28 years old. Life is great! I am a st grade teacher with a masters degree. I travel all over with my family and friends. I am a homeowner. I am not saying that these things would have happened on dialysis if would have. It is just much easier now. I rather take pills the rest of my llive then do dialysis.

@@Unknown-bv7lv hello friend, they're both doing great thank you, obviously for the first few months they were alittle out of it because of the surgery but 2 years later my dad is back to his old pre kidney failure self and my mum is still alittle achey here and there but has improved big time from 2 years back. Honestly so proud of the pair of them. Their lives are back to normal, thank you for asking xx
My mom giving kidney to me april 15 surgery is done .I back to home and doing my work is well but after surgery covid 2 wave attacked after 15 days i will back to home . After covid damaged too much around kidney blood clots came fever also came after 20 days clots removed.but put in blood waste bag that area coming too much pain plz give me any suggestions thankyou

super kids will pray for you. The operation itself is easier then doing Dialysis or going through the pre transplant testing. On Dec 22 2019 received a Kidney transplant 5 weeks after my husband died of Kidney failure and 5 years being on Dialysis.

Hi Mark, I will also be going for my transplant due to lupus nephritis....was your transplant a high risk transplant ..my C3 level is low as 60 ..should I go ahead with the transplant and also mine would be abo incompatible transplant
Hi :) mine wasn't high risk but if I'd waited a few months more it would have been. My function was close to 10% and creatinine was nearly 500. If your doctors recommend a transplant id say yes instantly. Its changed my life for the best!

Yes the little holes are the donor scares. You can hardly see them now after a few years.

What's scaring you the most? I was more scared mentally. Thinking about how my recovery will go and if the kidney will be accepted. I wasn't really scared about being operated on.
What about the scars ? It will be ok or what ? Can tell me about the scar ?
My scar has healed nicely over the few months. I had staples to close my wound but others might have glue and stitches. My scar is a little wider now because I've put on weight and stretched my skin. But it doesn't hurt and most of the time I forget it's even there.

recently my transplant is done only three weeks ago suggest me some tips what can eat and how much water drink a day and some more experience share which is good and important

I would say drink only water, no fizzy drinks or alcohol. Try drinking 3L a day. And I recommend you have a vegetarian diet with lots of beans, pulses, lentils and rice. Stay away from sugar in chocolate and sweets and try to exercise at least 30mins each day. Take care 💜
@@TransplantFitness feeling well but my creatinine is 1.31 at discharge time was 0.86 urea is 75 and iam eating chicken with rice can I eat vegetables and chicken and I drank water 6 liters out put more then 6 lit in 24 hour

My uncle has 1 kidney, when he was 4 years old dr had removed his kidney,, but now when he is 35 years old his 2nd kidney is on dialysis bcz his kidney doesn't wrking well., should he goes on dialysis for whole life or transplant his kidney?????

To be fair there wasn't that much pain through the whole process. My donor (my brother) was in more pain than I was. My top piece of advice is to ask as many questions as you can. Never think you'll be asking a stupid question, the doctors and nurses love answering your question. You just have to ask them 😊

I was really nervous as well mate. I was more nervous about my recovery than the actually operation. I would say, ask your surgeon and doctors as many questions as possible. They know all the answers so if something is worrying you ask them everything! Good luck mate. Hope everything goes well 🙏🏼👍🏽
Bro I have a question for u please tell me what kind of problems u face after transplant.. And can everything is normal with u or not
The main problem you face is rejection. If your immune system is too strong it can reject your kidney leading to failure. I've suffered from a little bit of that alrwsdy but it's being treated. The other problems are the same as every other non transplant patient - you still have to look after your blood pressure, your weight and make you eat well and drink lots of water. Your recovery will always be hard at times just stay strong and postive and you'll get there 👍🏽

I have done my kidney transplant 15march 2019 but may weight is gain day by day I use medicine neural 100+100 myfortic360mg 1+1 certican.25mg 2od deltacatrol entric coated5mg 1 od ostecare1od 1+1 diafol1od Risek40mg 1od my last test report is creatnine0.97 and gfr 94 and urea is 15 so please tell me what I do I do walk morning evening 1.5km
Since my transplant in December I've put on around 8kg. The medicine will have to take doesn't help when you're trying to lose weight. Walking every day is a good idea but more important is your diet. Eat as much fruit and vegetables as you can and stay away from processed foods or foods high in sugar. So walk everyday and be careful with your diet. Your creatinine and GfR are amazing! 👍🏽😁

I tried a vegetarian diet after my transplant and it helped a lot. You can still eat beef and dairy products just don't have too much sugar 👍🏽
