I'm about to start the process. I cannot stand watching my friend go through dialysis. I just can't. My friend's friends who started the process to help her never got back to her and never spoke of it again. I promised her and myself that I would never let her down like this.

They have said that i need to wait for about 5 years to see how I'm doing and I could do it then. For you to be a donor, you have to be perfectly healthy (no diabetes, no high blood pressure, no autoimmune diseases, no kidney cysts, no chronic viral infection, such as HIV or hepathites). She found out she was a match from Selena! The doctor notified Selena first before Francia. Selena then FaceTimed Francia and told her "we are a match!" That's how Francia found out. Francia never had a choice of wether or not to do it because she had no time to think about it.

Can someone please tell Selena she needs to stop consuming animal proteins, she needs to go on a plant based diet void of animal products, her symptoms will be alleviated within months. She has an auto immune disease where the body attacks its self, many animal proteins like beef, and dairy look a lot like other proteins around the body like the joints, hair follicles, and kidneys, it also could be from yeast, so she should cut out refined carbs like cakes and breads. the worst that will happen is that she feels a lot better health wise, but still ravaged by the disease. then she can go back to a standard western diet, but trust me and the science she needs to do this.. one of her fans or friends please contact her about her dietary lifestyle change. she needs to eat lots of fruit and veg, beans/legumes, lentils, starchy tubers, plantain, and flax seeds or a source of clean omega3's, and herbs ans spices like turmeric.

my mom was a match for my dad and was able to donate a kidney to my him, who’s kidneys had shut down due to a high stage of kidney cancer. it was a one in a million chance that a couple would be matches. I really do know how intense this all is, and the fact that they both got through it together is so incredibly good. my parents were there for each other, and they were there for each other. both of my parents had to write out wills, too, and it was probably one of the most surreal things my siblings and I had gone through. I remember us sitting together at breakfast with my mom telling us that there really wasn’t a 100% guarantee that they’d both survive. they both have scars, but it’s okay. my dad is so so grateful for my mom, and vice versa. they’re both so strong for being able to get through this💕

My mom needed a kidney and my oldest brother, who was about 25 at the time, was a perfect match, but they found some issues that suggested he would likely also go through kidney failure later in life. 25 years later, he's in stage 4 kidney failure and is waiting for a transplant. My mom is alive today because of a woman in California who died in a car crash and happened to be a perfect match. This is why being an organ donor is so important, even if you don't want to make that sacrifice when you're alive. If I'm going to die anyway, I would hope my death could save someone else's life.

Pardon my bluntness, but you have absolutely NO understanding of kidney disease, and NO idea what you are talking about. Someone could end up dead following such advice. Be careful with what you are enthusiastic about. I have studied natural/alternative medicine for 30 years, and there is VERY little that one can do about stage 4 nephritis. What happens to Lupus patients is a progressive DESTRUCTION of very fine nephron tubes inside the kidney - they are not reapair-able, they do not grow back, they do not heal or recover. Once they are damaged, that is IT. The kidney function declines, the patient gets dialysis, a transplant, or dies, once the damage reaches a certain level. If there were a natural cure for Lupus, I guarantee you it would be in use. Not to say that diet isn't helpful, but the problem is much bigger than that. I was recently diagnosed with Lupus and still no one believes just how painful it really is. I always get "Well you don't look sick" "change your sleeping schedule" "change your diet" "exercise more" ... They don't understand what people with this disease go through, change, & sacrifice just to make it through one day. We change so much in our lives just to fake being well.
I have fibromyalgia . Had symptoms since I was 9yo. People don't understand. Now, 30 years later, my agemates are hitting their 40s and have started facing health challenges of their own, plus caring for sick parents. _Now_ they are more understanding. It's hard to understand pain when you have never lived with it. I'm also more open and more accepting of my own situation. I have less of a need for others to give me permission to be how and where I am.
I have advanced heart failure ( an ef at 9 % ) which is absolutely terrible. And I get the same thing. People don't understand that your disease ages with you. I'm 34 years and have needed a new heart since the age of 26. I am truly blessed I've made it this far ( besides the stroke earlier this year, the er they didn't take me seriously or believed that someone my age would be having a stroke but I went to the same hospital that witnessed me having on at 26 and they left me in a waiting room for almost 2 hours which that stroke ended up causing more damage and made everything worse ) if someone says they are in pain, or just having issues with anything, people need to believe them. It's just like when people complain about someone parking in a disability space with their sticker and they say well doesn't look like they have a problem...some disabilities do not look physical, you also can't see pain. I've been getting dirty looks latley from riding in one of those carts at Walmart. One person said do you actually need that. Yes I do I can't breath. If I'm using it, it's for a reason. I'm really sorry that you feel this way and can't get a break. I wish I could say it will be better and I wish you didn't have to sacrifice anything to manage, I'm sending positive vibes your way

Those two women are my heroes. I lost all kidney function for 8 months and had to do dialysis from a GVHD attack following an Allogenic bone marrow transplant for AML leukemia. I didn't urinate one drop for 8 months. That was the most miserable 8 months of my life in so many ways. Praise God my kidneys went back to working one night. The kidneys regulate so many things, even your red blood cell production and potassium levels. Glad they got that huge problem repaired.

My boyfriend's kidneys are failing, he's on dialysis at the moment. I wanted to donate my kidney but I'm the wrong blood type, his mum is going through the checks to see if she can donate. I'm so worried for them both, but seeing these two so healthy helps a lot.
My son was born in 2013 with endstage kidney disease. At 30hrs old he was rushed in for emergency surgery to start dialysis. One thing that is rarely discussed in this type of situation is how the whole process affects the donor. So much attention is focused on the recipient because they are the ones who are sick. No one ever offers support for the donor....they think why should we care what happens to them there is nothing wrong with them theyre healthy....well after the operation is all over and everyone goes back to their everyday lives the donor isnt so healthy anymore and their body needs time to adjust. PS: I am currently on dialysis, and waiting to get tested in preparation for finding a compatible donor for a transplant.
Not true. The donor gets checkups at predetermined intervals at the transplant clinic for two years and then yearly at their own doctor as part of their regular labs. I donated in 2013.
My brother Has been on dialysis for 5 years going on 6 the doctores told him dialysis is no longer working for him and needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible. Please pray for him that he gets his Kidney soon

I never thought much of Selena Gomez. I mean, I've always thought she's a cute and decent young actress / singer, but now I see a beautiful person. A humble, sensitive and loving person. I hope other young entertainers can tap into the real human side of themselves and it doesn't take a life-changing event to be that person. I live and work in Hollywood. They have said that i need to wait for about 5 years to see how I'm doing and I could do it then. Even if it won't be to that friend at that point in time, I'm happy to donate to a stranger who will need it in the future.

No. The body can perfectly function with just one kidney. For you to be a donor, you have to be perfectly healthy (no diabetes, no high blood pressure, no autoimmune diseases, no kidney cysts, no chronic viral infection, such as HIV or hepathites). You'll be monitored as any other person should be for chronical diseases, such as the ones I mentioned.
But your energy, your activities won't be affect what so ever.
It's so sweet to hear more stories like mine. I just donated my kidney to my fiancé last December. I tell people every day I would do it all again in a heartbeat! I pray that you and your husband continue to be full of life and health :)

Ungrateful because Selina was drinking TONS of alcohol after the surgery even though doctors said not to drink any alcohol at all which is most likely why an artery flipped and she had to go back and get it fixed

She found out she was a match from Selena! The doctor notified Selena first before Francia. Selena then FaceTimed Francia and told her "we are a match!" That's how Francia found out. Francia never had a choice of wether or not to do it because she had no time to think about it.

I don’t think she necessarily guilt tripped her, but We definitely know for a fact that the doctor in charge caused a breach of confidentiality and did not legally do their job correctly. They are the only one to blame.

Can someone please tell Selena she needs to stop consuming animal proteins, she needs to go on a plant based diet void of animal products, her symptoms will be alleviated within months.
She has an auto immune disease where the body attacks its self, many animal proteins like beef, and dairy look a lot like other proteins around the body like the joints, hair follicles, and kidneys,
it also could be from yeast, so she should cut out refined carbs like cakes and breads. the worst that will happen is that she feels a lot better health wise, but still ravaged by the disease. then she can go back to a standard western diet, but trust me and the science she needs to do this..

I worked for a Nephrologist(kidney Dr.) A most the time family members want to donate but are not compatible. We had patients that got a kidney donated by a neighbor, a church member or a friend of a friend that heard their story. It's good to know that there's still good people in this world.

my mom was a match for my dad and was able to donate a kidney to my him, who’s kidneys had shut down due to a high stage of kidney cancer. it was a one in a million chance that a couple would be matches. I really do know how intense this all is, and the fact that they both got through it together is so incredibly good. my parents were there for each other, and they were there for each other. both of my parents had to write out wills, too, and it was probably one of the most surreal things my siblings and I had gone through. I remember us sitting together at breakfast with my mom telling us that there really wasn’t a 100% guarantee that they’d both survive. they both have scars, but it’s okay. my dad is so so grateful for my mom, and vice versa. they’re both so strong for being able to get through this💕

My mom doesn’t even let anyone donate for her, my dad said her do it but unfortunately she thinks it’s against the way she was raised, that it’s morally wrong and selfish.

My mom needed a kidney and my oldest brother, who was about 25 at the time, was a perfect match, but they found some issues that suggested he would likely also go through kidney failure later in life. 25 years later, he's in stage 4 kidney failure and is waiting for a transplant.
My mom is alive today because of a woman in California who died in a car crash and happened to be a perfect match. This is why being an organ donor is so important, even if you don't want to make that sacrifice when you're alive. If I'm going to die anyway, I would hope my death could save someone else's life.
My mom donated a kidney to my dad also. They claim their match makes them believe they are soulmates. It was meant to be so she could save his life. I love your story. It’s amazing and takes an amazingly strong person to donate a part of their body to save someone else’s life.

What happens to Lupus patients is a progressive DESTRUCTION of very fine nephron tubes inside the kidney - they are not reapair-able, they do not grow back, they do not heal or recover. Once they are damaged, that is IT. The kidney function declines, the patient gets dialysis, a transplant, or dies, once the damage reaches a certain level. She was used, that she was the Last to know that she was a match, thats against the law, and for all good reason, and whatkind of people does that anyway, not revealing to the"possibly" donaror herself first that shes match. Its very private informaation. By doing that, they confirmed she could not have time to think about it all by herself. And she was made sure that everybody Else knows that too, so that created a very pressured, like psychological pressure, that its her responsibility to donate that kidney. These celebrities, they have so much money, its normal for them to use people like that. Donating a kidney could be a fatal, not receiving it.

I was recently diagnosed with Lupus and still no one believes just how painful it really is. I always get "Well you don't look sick" "change your sleeping schedule" "change your diet" "exercise more" ... They don't understand what people with this disease go through, change, & sacrifice just to make it through one day. We change so much in our lives just to fake being well.
I have fibromyalgia . Had symptoms since I was 9yo. People don't understand. Now, 30 years later, my agemates are hitting their 40s and have started facing health challenges of their own, plus caring for sick parents. _Now_ they are more understanding. It's hard to understand pain when you have never lived with it.
I'm also more open and more accepting of my own situation. I have less of a need for others to give me permission to be how and where I am.

I have advanced heart failure ( an ef at 9 % ) which is absolutely terrible. And I get the same thing. People don't understand that your disease ages with you. I'm 34 years and have needed a new heart since the age of 26. I am truly blessed I've made it this far ( besides the stroke earlier this year, the er they didn't take me seriously or believed that someone my age would be having a stroke but I went to the same hospital that witnessed me having on at 26 and they left me in a waiting room for almost 2 hours which that stroke ended up causing more damage and made everything worse ) if someone says they are in pain, or just having issues with anything, people need to believe them. It's just like when people complain about someone parking in a disability space with their sticker and they say well doesn't look like they have a problem...some disabilities do not look physical, you also can't see pain. I've been getting dirty looks latley from riding in one of those carts at Walmart. One person said do you actually need that. Yes I do I can't breath. If I'm using it, it's for a reason. I'm really sorry that you feel this way and can't get a break. I wish I could say it will be better and I wish you didn't have to sacrifice anything to manage, I'm sending positive vibes your way

Those two women are my heroes. I lost all kidney function for 8 months and had to do dialysis from a GVHD attack following an Allogenic bone marrow transplant for AML leukemia. I didn't urinate one drop for 8 months. That was the most miserable 8 months of my life in so many ways. Praise God my kidneys went back to working one night. The kidneys regulate so many things, even your red blood cell production and potassium levels. Glad they got that huge problem repaired.

My son was born in 2013 with endstage kidney disease. At 30hrs old he was rushed in for emergency surgery to start dialysis. At 18 months old 8/6/2015 he recieved a living donor from a person in a our community who saw a post about needing a donor and she reached out. She was a match and saved out sons life. No one understand how critical organ donation is. Today my son is 6years old and doing incredible. Thanks,to a stranger who put her life on the line. Just like Selena's friend she gave our son a chance at life.

One thing that is rarely discussed in this type of situation is how the whole process affects the donor. So much attention is focused on the recipient because they are the ones who are sick. No one ever offers support for the donor....they think why should we care what happens to them there is nothing wrong with them theyre healthy....well after the operation is all over and everyone goes back to their everyday lives the donor isnt so healthy anymore and their body needs time to adjust.
PS: I am currently on dialysis, and waiting to get tested in preparation for finding a compatible donor for a transplant.
Not true. The donor gets checkups at predetermined intervals at the transplant clinic for two years and then yearly at their own doctor as part of their regular labs. I donated in 2013.
The whole testing process which takes 6-9 months minimum is focused on the donor not recipient

I never thought much of Selena Gomez. I mean, I've always thought she's a cute and decent young actress / singer, but now I see a beautiful person. A humble, sensitive and loving person.
