Wow I guess I was lucky. I did not have a stent or anything. I was back to college and work at an assisted living facility week 4. My creatinine is always 0.4-0.6. Sorry you had a rough go of it.
Wow your creatinine is fantastic! Hoping mine gets there soon. Its strange you didn't have a stent - at least you didn't have to have it pulled out of you 😊 hope you're still keeping well! 💜
Hi Mark, I'm Krishna from Malaysia. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Its was very useful. I have questions, I just did my transplant and currently in the 4 week but my feet keep swelling. Do you encounter the same issues.
I'm hoping to get on a transplant list soon. I am worried they'll say no because I keep losing weight, and I don't know why. They're not taking any fluids off at dialysis, and I'm eating as much as I can. It's hard to find food I can eat that's high in calories, but low in sodium, phosphorus, and potassium.
Im 51 days post transplant and my creatinine has been gradually going up to 1.8 and stayed at that for 2 weeks since my last test. Today im going to have it checked again and if its higher again my doctor said the next move will be biopsy. My doctor said it could be acute tubulr necrosis since i didnt stop bleeding for 3 hours right after surgery and they had to do blood and plasma infusion just to make my blood clot and stop the bleeding. Im not worried but i sometimes cant help but think if it will ever improve or am i gonna have to go back to dialysis again.
Ahh I'm so sorry to hear about your issues post transplant. And that thought of 'will it ever improve' is something that's been going through my head over the last 2 months as I've also had issue after issue. I was so confident and excited about the transplant I never really gave much thought to what recovery would be like. Its a grind everyday but one we know we have to stick at. We've been giving a second chance and we'll do everything to make the most of it. Sending postive vibes your way my friend - hope things settle down soon!
Yes before my transplant I was only taking Mycophenolate (MMF) and was avoiding the sun. Since my transplant I'm now taking MMF and Tacrolimus (Adaport) and I've been told to wear sun protection whenever I can. Even if it's not hot, as long as the sun is out I've been advised to use sun cream.
I took a lot of those meds before I started dialysis. I had a lot of side effects. I guess I was hoping they would have improved some of the meds. Have you experienced gout as a side effect or any hip pain? I’m trying to chose between staying on dialysis or going with a transplant
I'm going to be taking my MMF and Tacrolimus for the life of my kidney. I did experience gout before my transplant but haven't had it since and haven't had any hip pain. I had my transplant pre-dialysis so I'm not fully aware of the struggles of dialysis. What my doctor told me though is dialysis is only a way of sustaining your quality of life whereas a transplant will improve your quality of life. It must be a tough decision but make sure you ask all your loved ones how they feel and make the decision together.
Hey man. I enjoy your videos as I have also recently had a kidney transplant. Mine was on Dec 13th in the US. I follow you on twitter as @jgrantlewis. DM me if you ever would like to share war stories. Good luck.
Aww congratulations mate! Hope your health is nice and stable since the transplant. Yes would be great sharing stories - I know things work a little different over in the US so would love to learn more. Keep in contact - take care 👍🏽

Brother I'm getting a transplant in 2 weeks, do you have any idea when will they remove the catheter which they place for dyalisis?
Depends on your potassium , they will remove sometimes 3 rd day sometimes 5 day
I've got my pre op appointment this week. What can I expect from that? What will they discuss with me? I'm 23 and having transplant in 2 weeks

What is reason of your kidney damage
How about your hemoglobin.
Hey man i have a question: i use a catheter every day. did you also use that every day before the trasplant?
No I didn't have to use a catheter leading up to my transplant, only for 5 days after my transplant.
some do some don't
Are you avoiding the sun due to the immune suppressant drug ?
