  • Many who read the polls might say 2024 seems like the year of living dangerously. No one is arguing about who's got the momentum, only four days out from snap legislative elections here in France and on the eve of the first presidential candidates' debate in the United States.

Why is the birth rate going down? Because it's harder and harder for ordinary people to raise a family, buy a house and save for retirement. Rich people haven't stopped having kids, Elon Musk has 14, Trump has 5. Children are becoming a privilege of the wealthy and those on the government dole. Immigration doesn't make it easier to afford children, immigration increases the demand and cost for everything but labor and the young native born experience it daily.

@@amenbrother8818 That's not quite it. Japan,SK & Taiwan all have absolutely stunted population growth and in Japan they've finally recognized that they can't maintain what they've been used to without immigration, public attitudes have changed there. Thailand is also about to peak in its pop & then its down from there.
There aren't burgeoning radical/hard right surges in any of them.

To answer this question, you need to see what is happening in Kenya. Around the world, politicians in democratic countries have ignored the grievances of the people and have pursued paths beneficial to them and their friends( lenders included). People are tired of being lied to but unfortunately, they still think they can get sheep among wolves( majority politicians).

Kenya's problem is it owes oodles of money to China and is now struggling to pay it's debts to anyone else, so they put taxes up which Kenyans didn't like.

The people who are under educated are people like your guests and unfortunately most politicians who have no idea either about economic realities on the ground or solutions to problems or even how economics works. We are in a mess because the tax burden has been taken off those who could afford to pay and who used to pay from Roosevelt right up to Reagan. Economics is if people can afford to buy business doesn't work. If the workforace isn't healthy they are not productive. If we don't fund education at all levels we will lack professionals and those we have will ask too much for their labour which will cost the taxpayers more. And if people turn to extremes it is because the mainstream centrist have let them down. Next step after Starmer = Reform

This is a sociological and psychological phenom and fueled by the self-interest of each political party.
The present European and USA generation, say up to the age of 50, have been enjoying a very easy time compared to the generation just after the war.
This present generation wants to have everything without working for them. And i everything in the society has been getting very competitive.
The political parties have made errors in migration politics, which has been an excuse for the young generation. They think, in vain and ignorance, that stopping the immigration will solve their economic, political, social problems.
It is true that migration is really a big problem. the solution is to make proper and appropriate decisions together with public education.
There will always be extreme minds deviating from the democratic norm. This can be taken as a positive thing for it will act as checks and balances. But these extreme right groups can never prevail as the history tells us. And Pres. Macron is challenging the civic minds of the French people. And he is right. People at the end will take responsibility of their life by expressing their minds.

The Far Right only surges during times of crisis and uncertainty, when “the old solutions” no longer seem to work.” The Right is surging, not only in France but in most Western democracies, because people are fearful of an uncertain future, and they have lost confidence in “the traditional way of doing things.” This opens the door to the worst form of demagoguery-as neo-Fascists (conveniently relabeled as “nationalists” or “populists,”) peddle simplistic and often destructive policies that might satisfy the emotional need to “simply do something!” but never actually provide constructive solutions. By turning to the political extremes, especially the simplistic and hateful policies of Le Pen, France is taking the easy way out. And France will pay a terrible price. As an American, I believe my country deserves no sympathy for having elected Trump. And the same applies to France. You will get EXACTLY what you deserve. And it won’t be pretty. Further economic stagnation, and a society at war with itself. Grow up!

All the cultures , languages, and ethnic groups that will disappear in the next 100 years are in Europe- there won't be a multi cultural UK or Europe, there will be the culture of whatever immigrants you allow in. That culture will eventually become THE culture. And no one will speak French or German, or Polish, etc... everyone wants to go to western countries and call themselves German or Polish or French etc.. while their culture and languages are safe at home. Being a French national doesn't make you French. Maybe I could become a citizen of China or Korea or India, but my ethnicity will not change. Aren't German, French, Polish people also ethnic groups. If the migration was in the other direction the liberals would call it colonialism or genocide.
