The 1968 Revolution destroyed Western European traditional culture. True multiculturalism means that within France the traditional French Christian white culture becomes a cultural and ethnic minority. After the 1968 Revolution, France chose to destroy itself and become a minority in itself. I believe that what belongs to everyone belongs to no one. For tens of thousands of years, it has been common for humans to respond to differences with conflict and fight. Thats why human build house and borders. Borders reduce unnecessary fights and conflicts and wars. Multiculturalism is well realized on a global scale. I don't understand why France is trying to realize multiculturalism and mass immigration in there.

Exactly. They’re pawns in the plans of the older far right members. French quality of life relies on the exploitation of its former colonies. Thats why Niger kicked out the French using Wagner troops. The French had forced Niger to sell their Uranium for cheap. Haussmann killed 20,000 people building modern Paris, off the spoils of empire. 🫴

pay attention. The party's first political bureau, founded in October 1972, included several figures who had fought against the French resistance or supported Philippe Pétain, the head of France's collaborationist Vichy regime in World War II. The party preferred to avoid any touchy issues or people, including the two living co-founders, Alain Robert and Jean-Marie Le Pen, neither or whom were invited. It barely touched on the 40 years during which the party was led by Mr. Le Pen, who made the tiny group founded by neo-fascists one of France's main political parties despite his racist, anti-Semitic and Holocaust-denying provocations. Ms. Le Pen's ambiguity toward her party's past was revealed by the decision to hold this low-key event, and by the ommitted topics.
The style has changed, but the substance is the same. Ms. Le Pen insists that the RN is different from the FN, that the party has evolved, that is has left behind her father's racist and anti-Semitic. But the core of the ideology she defends is unchanged, particularly with regard to immigration, globalisation, and her vision of France and its presumed lost grandeur. Some obsessions have disappeared: are anti-communism, the defense of the traditional family model, the anti-abortion fight and the restoration of the death penalty. But none of the movement's fundamentals have been repudiated, first and foremost among them the "national preference," which was renamed as "national priority" 10 years ago - the idea being to give French citizens priority for jobs, social assistance and housing. Ms. Le Pen does not want to give up on this policy event though it is contrary to the French constitution. Jean-Marie Le Pen, who was not invited to the conference, is pleased with this and salutes his daughter's skill: "The RN is putting forward the FN's traditional proposals. The line of the national, popular and social right is held. Insisting on purchasing power is an effective technique for de-demonization, because taking the debate out of politics protects you from confrontation."
Under Ms. Le Pen's leadership, the strategy of de-demonization was accompanied by new semantics, an essential weapon in the political battle. "Marine Le Pen has turned down the volume of the FN's discourse, lowering the outrageousness and the hyperbole to fit the norm of political discourse," said Cécile Alduy, a professor at Stanford University, who specializes in the analysis of far-right discourse. "At the same time, she erased everything that went against the cultural movement of France, at a time when a dominant ideology condemning racism and inequality was holding sway. In order to capture the zeitgeist, she adopted this broad consensus and cast it into the ideological background of the FN. Words that sound modern and Republican are used, but only applied to the fight against immigration."

The French first thing is reminiscent of Jim Crowe's America, a society that wouldn't treat or view non-whites as equals, even though they were all technically "free".
Even if migrants integrate and get French citizenship, they will still look like migrants to the RN and get treated as such by their followers, until they prove in every interaction, that they are French and perhaps worthy of equal treatment.
Having to constantly prove that you're good enough, when people assume you're not, doesn't really seem like equality.
I already see that kind of thing happening on the street, only it's from racists harassing minorities, not officials deciding on governmental issues.
But I see your point, if you can already doublethink like in 1984, why not use it?

What I miss from this story is how these young people think these politicians are going to help them. Like in concrete terms, with actual policies that will benefit them. Sure, French first, but what does that actually mean in terms of ruling the country. I mean this young mother with the 1400 euro income and 2000 euro expenses. How are these politicians going to make that situation better? Her house isnt owned by immigrants charging that much rent. Her employer isnt run by immigrants paying her this low salary.
Sure, I think there is too much immigration, but I dont see how worrying about that has anything to do with the actual real problems she is facing in her life. It seems rather logical to me that if she is really worried about her income and expenses, a vote for a traditional socialist party would make a lot more sense, because they will probably raise taxes for the rich and build more social housing. Not saying that she should or whatever, just that it would make more sense if those are the most important issues she is currently facing.

How are they going to fix "a continuous decline in living standards and quality of life"? Nobody is talking about that. How would they actually improve my living standards by kicking out a bunch of useless migrants? So I can get their crappy moldy ghetto flat? Wow sounds amazing. Social benefits? Well the GDP of France is 2.779 Trillion per year. Im sure the 0.0001% extra money ill get when those social benefits are divided are going to make all the difference...
So now im in this crappy migrant apartment with a couple of tenners in my pocket more... Sure, fine, and then what? I somehow have "quality of life" now and I "won" or something? You can find examples like this in everyday life items. So that is how you and the rest of Europeans are benefiting from the exploitation of African countries and its people. It's normal to be worried about immigration - with climate change, it's only going to get worse - but this is just the same age old propaganda, pointing out very real problems and then running on one simple lie of a solution: "It's the outsiders who are to blame." It's all slight of hand: vote me in because of immigration, and never-mind the other far-right policies I will enact that are antithetical to France's history. The young girl talking about being proud to be French doesn't realise other people are proud to be French too, because she's been told that nationalism is the same as patriotism. Hell no it's not. Nationalism is a greased-up slide into authoritarian rule by creating a single enemy to unify people against - it starts with "be proud to be French" and ends with "Being French means not complaining, not protesting, and not questioning your leader."

  • @dipankarchatterjee9416

People are commenting on the growth and subsequent resentment of Islamization & Immigration, people in France are nostalgic about the past. Whereas this focus is wrong! People in France have lost the art and spirit of entrepreneurship - there’s no Nvidia in France, there’s no Microsoft in France, there’s no Google in France.
What the far right is preaching is even more handouts - not thinking that today the market cap of Nvidia is more than the market cap of all French companies! France became France because people in the past took risks, from great sailors to great emperors to great artists - unfortunately that risk taking culture is fully missing in the youth as shown in this documentary and it will go back even further with the changes being proposed by the Far Right and Far Left of France.
There’s no discussion on how to educate youth to take risks and build the future French champions.

I read some of the comments and as a history teacher I havr to rise my voice against and say that young people should not be blamed for not knowing what the far right means and has meant in recent World history. General education is ruined in the world, privatized by crooks eager only for their financial profit, and quick solutions are easily sold to ignorant youth. If today's youth like the quick sollutions that are sold by far-right political options across Western civilization, especially the EU and Europe, they should have at least first learned something about how Hitler and Mussolini seized power and sold deadly dreams to Italian and German youth just some 90 years ago and dragged the world into the complete totalitarianism where freedom of thought and speech was forbidden. Hundreds of millions had to pay the price of extreme right-wing utopias with their lifes, and now we are heading towards it again. Are educated people stigmatized again like in Nazism and fascism? Yes they are! Nowadays students act vigourously to know better then their teachers. What did we learn? Ware NASA program involving Nazi scientist and the Francos dictatorial regime in Spain supposed to be tolerated by the US interrests and NATO expansions? Now Putin is paying far-right movements in the EU to destroy the fabric of EU. Haven't we learned anything? Are nowadays muslims supposed to go through as Jews did from 1930's until concentration and extermination camps up to 1945? I'm sorry, but you should have leared how to care about all the people now just your own nation or religion, because it is not you who have chosen it but rather you were born in it by a mere accident and all the rest is written in the books. Read and learn!
I'm History professor who spent a decades to find out what people are driven by to destroy "others", different from those that we are all tought to call "ours". The gardians of concentration camp once sead "I was just doing my job." The ignorance is the most powerful danger that assists the evil to reach the power and when it happens it is allready a bit too late.

As a French person, this documentary is interesting because I know the cultural and political context of my country.
On the other hand, I find that it focuses too much on the people who vote, and not enough on the ideas put forward by the RN. In the comments many people say that the RN is right-wing and not far-right but that is false. The Council of State (the supreme jurisdiction of the French administrative order) has decreed that the RN is indeed far-right.
I can understand that these young people support their country and that's good, but they don't realize that they are voting for a party that advocates hatred and discrimination.
Here are some examples that show the gap between what is promised to voters and what is actually done.
“The RN is a party that wants to help people in poverty, those who are fed up”: so why did they vote in the Assembly against the increase in the minimum wage? Against the indexation of wages to inflation? Against the revaluation of student grants?
“The RN is not a racist party as everyone claims”: so why did they vote against the recognition of slavery as a crime against humanity? Why did they vote against a resolution to save migrant lives at sea?
“The RN is for gender equality”: so why did they vote against reducing the pay gap between men and women within the EU? And against access to free and legal abortion within the Constitution? Why did they refuse to allocate a budget to fight against violence against women? Why are they opposed to the EU becoming an LGBTQIA+ freedom zone?

Well, the reason why the RN will never come to power is that France is too diverse and multicultural. The max potential for the RN is 20 million voters on a population of 62 million.

In English: kids, especially young girls, are easily manipulated by the same techniques used by the music industry to sell music. It is not a coincidence that the RN is using someone who could easily be a pop singer. This is an argument to raise the voting age. Teenagers are too easily manipulated emotionally by what is ''cool''. Politics is NOT the entertainment industry, and the RN know exactly what they are doing.

@@archiebald4717 I replied to this in another comment so I'm just going to paste it here too:
The normalization of the right doesn’t make it less extreme. History’s lessons fade over generations, and today’s nationalist movements, while lacking the fascist militarism and cults of the past, still thrive on hatred and nationalistic pride.
Marine Le Pen’s RN avoids its controversial past, including co-founders like Jean-Marie Le Pen, whose racist and anti-Semitic provocations made the party notorious. Despite rebranding, the RN’s core views on immigration, globalization, and French nationalism remain unchanged, reflecting far-right and partly fascist ideologies.
Le Pen’s strategy of quiet strength, along with recent electoral gains, positions her as the main opposition to a weakened government. Despite ideological shifts, the RN’s fundamental aim is to govern, acting as a receptacle for grievances and discontent. The style may have changed, but the substance and objectives remain the same.
