    That rose dress is heart-stoppingly gorgeous, as are you. What was the Japanese rose-scented powder?

    Hello, I really loved your video but, I have a question: Doesn't the alcohol ruin the metal compact case? I have a vintage, that I really want to use but, I'm so afraid to damage it, that the alcohol can damage the transparent enamel. What's your experience about this? 💅🏼

      If you can just buy a max factor creme puff refill.

      Yes, I have the same question. I think the alcohol can damage many metals, at the very least the enamel. Instead, I would just clean it with a damp cloth and a mild soap like liquid Ivory. But then I'd wonder if it's adequately disinfected.... I guess we should ask one of the expert companies that sell collectible compacts.

      The rubbing alcohol shouldn’t damage anything. In fact, a lot of body shops use rubbing alcohol on the clearcoat of the paint of a car, which is extremely delicate, to remove any contamination before applying another coat of clearcoat to the car

      I have tried it with both and the method worked just fine. Make sure you really compact the powder and let it fully dry!

    I really wish Reuseable compacts were more availabe and less costly. I've been looking everywhere with no success for a decent sized clear compact for my powder foundation. I wanted to repot everything into a stackable set that would take up less space in my bathroom. I've come to the conclusion that i'll just have to buy and save containers from Revlon. All i need to do is figure out how to get the logo off without scratching it up to high heaven . thank you for the great tutorial

    There used to be (it still might be there but I don't remember the name and don't live there anymore) this shop in Chicago that would custom make powder makeup products in front of you just like that! It was fun to watch. They put it in their own ugly cardboard compacts from what I remember though, lol.

    Hi Lovely! I am have a gold vintage compact but it has the original powder in it still..which I feel like is a big no-no would you suggest taking it out and replacing the powder? Thank you xoxo

    • @MissMonMon
      @MissMonMon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi darling! Sorry for the late response, TH-cam was not loading any comments!
      I would definitely remove the old makeup if you plan on using the compact. Makeup does expire and over time, bacteria can grow on it which may cause skin irritation, breakouts and infection.
      Remove the makeup and then sterilize the pan (use rubbing alcohol such as Isocol or 100% alcohol like the one I use in the video).
      Hope this helps! Let me know how you go and message me if you need more help

    Where should I look for a compact of my own? Also, what lipstick are you using? Both are too beautiful...

    • @MissMonMon
      @MissMonMon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi darling! I'd recommend Etsy if you are comfortable shopping online but lots of vintage and antique stores have them. Depending on what your Op shops are like, you can sometimes find nice ones there. It might take a while to hunt down a nice one depending on what you like.
      In this video I think I was wearing Kat Von D's Everlasting lipstick in Outlaw.

    I want to try this but I’m worried about the presence of lead or harmful chemicals in the compacts since vintage items have a higher chance of being made of these materials

    • @MissMonMon
      @MissMonMon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah yes very good point. It's always best to find out as much as you can about the compact in question; most will have a logo or a brand printed on it somewhere which will give you a guess as to how old it is. I'm pretty sure I'm safe with this one

      Thank you! Brian is a tortoise shell. We don't know much about her background as she was abandoned on my grandfathers business so we took her in a little while later (we didn't realise she belonged to nobody) but she's so well loved and looked after. She's trying to sleep on my keyboard as I type this

    Weird that women in the past were better about the environment that ladies today, we are now a throw away society. I live vintage purses and compacts !

      The world really changed once plastics became popular. I find by having these vintage items I'm now more mindful of waste and try my best to refuse products.

      I know...I learned to my surprise they even had refillable elegant metal lipstick cases. Makes so much more sense than constantly throwing away plastic ones or even recycling cardboard ones.
