When she raised the back of her hand and said "Yes, I am a lesbian", it took me a minute to realise she was drawing attention to her wedding ring and not her fingernails...
I was thinking the same thing! I was like "oh Jessica, this feels a tad suggestive", and then I realized she was showing off her wedding ring. I just facepalmed myself lmao
Damn she’s blind in one eye and she can STILL do her makeup like THAT?! I have 20/20 vision and I can’t even come CLOSE to that level of beauty and perfection! Hats off! Bow to the queen!
@@queenkunt1169 I hear what you're saying, but in reality it's a bit of an urban myth. People DO get better at compensating and adjusting to life with a disability, but the actual organ doesn't improve any. They just become more efficient in its use and workarounds.
My mom was disabled and dealt with chronic fatigue and chronic pain. She died suddenly in April but on hard days she’d watch your videos because your personality made her so happy. So thanks for making these videos and being a bright spot in the world
So sorry for your loss. I do know what it's like to have that one thing to hold onto that thing that brought that one person a bright spot in their dark days. While I'm a chronic patient who found Jessica, my ex had cancer and passed and i just saw a box of honey buns that my father bought today and it made me smile because that was all we could get her to eat near the end. Hold on to those small bright things. I know it's never easy. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
She may be unable to model well BUT she gets gifted clothing to wear because of her aesthetic and her amazing photos and the fact that she actually wears the clothing during her daily life, which is amazing.
She was a finalist in a modeling reality show, back in '07 or '08 or so. It was called Britain's Missing Top Model or similar. It featured several lovely ladies with some physical handicap or another, and was essentially Britain's Next Top Model for models with disabilities.
At first I thought she left out another one, and then I remembered this video is 4 years old so it's from back before she found out she is a fellow ADHD-haver!
it's so wild that someone's thoughts can be in an entirely different format than yours! i'm definitely a narrator and it's rly hard to wrap my head around the concept of not thinking that way
@Karla Catalan It's when you think in concepts and images and vague ideas, the things that words represent, without actually bothering to translate them into words because that's not how your brain stores information. My sister is like that, meanwhile my internal dialogue is basically all words because to me they're integrally related to the concepts.
I've always had a internal dialog, I used to think it was normal until I was told it wasn't. I've had to learn to keep some of the things inside my head
Serah Olivia bamboo is an injury, bacteria, and allergy risk just like many other "reusable" straws. i don't know why abled people don't understand that plastic straws are just as reusable as non plastic alternatives.
I don't understand how all the world going crazy about straws bit no one mentions all the nets which is the majority of plastic in the ocean. Also you are the cutest person and always makes me happy ❤️
It's plastics in general. And steel/glass straws have bend designs that are permanent reusable and EXACTLY what Jess needs. They can be washed forever taken outside and the bend doesn't move/revert. Single use plastics in all forms are absolutely harmful. We should all send Jess some rainbow steel/glass bend straws and see how she likes them. Thin ones, please!
@@sersastark No, they're not what she needs. She's been over this before (just watch her video on plastic straws). The straw needs to be bendable, and glass/steel are not. (Plus they are still not okay for people who might suddenly bite down due to for example a seizure, imagine your teeth vs steel, yaaay.) Jess also has silicone straws but even though they are bendable they don't stay that way. which she needs them to. On another note, how about focusing on the corporations dumping plastic and other trash in nature, instead of individuals just trying to live?
@@sersastark as far as I know she has one (she tested different types of reusable straws in a video but I'm not sure it's still up). She kept two kinds. The one you're talking about I think she uses for travel, as well as silicone straws. But none of them are well enough suited to her needs. Please read up on who plastic straws were invented for and you'll quickly find that most of the reusable solutions aren't good enough for the majority of people who need them. I can use them now, but in a while I won't be able to.
@@sersastark for people with limited control and mobility, steel and glass straws can be harmful (will chip teeth, break etc). please don't assume you know what a disabled person needs or can use better than the actual disabled person.
@@sersastark another problem with reusable straws for disabled folks can be hard or impossible to clean for people with mobility problems (along with other problems others in the replies have mentioned) and they're pretty expensive. she's mentioned that they are difficult for her to clean in another video, and with her memory problems its hard for her to remember they need to be cleaned in the first place.
I really think they just don't realize how plastic straws can be so important for some people. People can only base their opinions, decisions and behaviors on their own experiences. If they haven't experienced or known someone who experienced certain limitations, they probably aren't able to even think of that necessity.
stifledbabsie Oh, I've told them. I don't depend on straws but as an autistic I argue with eugenics fans on the daily. I've addressed the straw bullshit and all abled people do is laugh at it, claiming it's wrong, that we're just lazy etc. Same old
I think many people completely agree that disposable straws should be widely available to those who need them. They just don't want straws to be virtually thrown at anyone. Instead they want them to be available to those that consciously want them. Yes, this means they would have to ask for a straw. It could be a compromise. (Also the straws should be handed out to anyone who asks for them, no question asked.)
TheMurrmursonbottle plenty of people have written on this - not long lasting for ppl who cant drink fast, not bite proof for ppl who dont have jaw control, etc etc etc
Jessica please put your 'deafness' outtakes at the end of the videos. I spend my whole life saying 'what?' & 'pardon?' and guessing what people are saying. Also i just wanted to say, i love watching your videos, i have several invisible disabilities, am an ambulatory wheelchair user and married to my wife whose my best friend. I relate to most things you post lol x
I would LOVE and so greatly appreciate this, while I was fortunate enough to have my 1/3 deafness mostly fixed. I vividly remember being yelled at for not hearing properly, and I know it would make me and others feel much better to see how a lot of us went through or go through it every day.
The "can you hear your own thoughts?" thing... The "internal monologue" has been discussed a lot recently in my social media circles. It seems that some people can 'hear' words in their mind, others don't, they have to speak aloud to hear how something sounds. This is similar to the "mind's eye" where some people can actually visualise things. I cannot, I just kinda know how things would look but I can't "see" it in my mind.
Stop. I don’t know, I think I can “ hear my thoughts” but I don’t know if I’m imagining that as well. Like if I sing, I know I’m doing it, but is it sound? Or am I imagining it? Wtf. STAP. I am also like the person commenting before, I am literally talking to myself whole day. I’m different languages, sometimes I don’t even know what language I was using to think. Omg this makes my head ache.
Actually I think when peopl are talking about their "inner voice" that's never your original thought. That's just you subconsciously making the thought into a sentence, which everyone does to some level, but also everyone has thoughts that don't become sentences. I also talk to myself in my head, a LOT, but that's not all of the thoughts just some that become sentences. ... Did this whole thing make sense or am I horrible at explaining?
@@darkacadpresenceinblood that makes sense, for some that translation is automatic and part of expressing yourself to yourself, like for me, since I'm a very precise and word-oriented person. Also because of the way my brain stores things the word is so heavily tied to the concept cluster that they're essentially one and the same and it's easier to call up the umbrella term rather than the full collection of memories, concepts, and ideas linked to it, so while it might not technically be the original "root" thought it might as well be. Then other people just never bother to translate their thoughts because why would they, it's extra work (for them). I imagine people like my sister are just better at holding a bunch of info into one unified concept or feeling or image than I am. What you're explaining sounds like a middle ground between the two "extremes" or modes of internal expression--most people I know lie heavily on one end or the other.
I think I can't full visualize something, and that might be why I like drawing so much because I can try and figure out how exactly it looks, but I can still sorta visualize
A lot of people tell my boyfriend “well just use a paper straw instead of plastic” but the paper straws have gluten in them (somehow) and my boyfriend has celiac disease and even trace amount of gluten make him violently ill. Plastic straws are important for some people.
I mean he could just not use a straw🤷♀️ (unless ofc he has some sort of disability that makes him actually need one). If he really loves using a straw there are many different reusable options (glas, metal, bamboo, silicone)
@@Reutviv even then, those that are in need plastic straws are most likely to WASH them and make them last. Bamboo are extremely hard to clean and if you have any physical disabilities in combination to those that stop you from using paper, glass is a breakable material and may cause injury, silicone allergies etc. If you can use other straws that’s good but, there’s a lot of reasons why other types of straws may not be suitable for some people, and there’s ways to REUSE plastic as to not be wasteful.
i also want to add that there’s no evidence to support the claim that paper straws contain gluten or gluten byproducts (per the national celiac association). the material used to make wheat-based straws is the byproduct left over after the grain is harvested which do not contain gluten. plus the straws don’t “break down” during use so there’s no risk of ingesting any of the product
Jessica, would you make a video about adult who have both a carer and a spouse. My husband’s chronic condition is getting worse but everyone seems to act like I can just take care of him by myself
I would really enjoy a video like that as well! As an American there's a stigma against appearing weak, or not strong enough. There's nothing wrong with having a carer, we need to open up more about this!
First of all, please allow me to say how sorry I am about your husband. I know how difficult it is to watch someone you love deteriorate. And please allow me to say that caregiver/compassion fatigue is a real concept! So to hell with those who fail to see how difficult this is for you on the daily basis. I honestly think that Jessica having a 'carer' is what helps eliminate compassion fatigue in their marriage. I hope where you live can help fund homecare or that you can afford the services yourself, because it really makes a difference! Even if it's just 3 days a week or an hour everyday. Of course we care for the ones we love and it's truly a privilege to be there for them when they need us most, but it's okay to ask for help along the way. All the best to you and your hubby, you lovely lady.
This is a good one. I'm in my mid 20s and my parents help care for me but it's caused huge strains in our family. My grandparents think I'm just being lazy (because someone in their mid 20s is totally gonna fake having less independence). My parents understand how bad things are because they see it constantly, but it's mentally and physically exhausting for them and it makes me feel guilty that we can't afford a carer. But if I try to do more than in already doing on my own, it puts me at risk of falls/other injuries. Don't ever feel ashamed about needing to hire a carer to help you. It is hard enough to take care of yourself mentally and physically when a loved one is going through a health crisis. It's damn near impossible to take care of them, too.
Great idea! My husband is my carer and it can be difficult. I feel like he does everything for me, he can't work and he deserves a life of his own from time to time. I also feel like I don't really "deserve" a employed carer so it would be a really helpful video.
I love how she has so many disabilities that actually don't let you live life comfortably and yet she seems just so happy and optimistic. Such a wholesome person and the spark of optimism that this year needs.
Some people “hear” their thoughts in their head like an ongoing narrative, others process thoughts without that sort of inner narrator. For those that hear their thoughts in a monologue style, it can be difficult to understand how someone who is deaf processes thought. It’s actually a really interesting phenomenon!!
Hey Jessica x Just a suggestion but can you make a blooper reel? I'd love to see all those funny moments behind the scenes ❤❤ Hi to Claud and Clara too 💖 Edit: Oh just a quick question that came to mind, does Claudia know how to sign? I feel like this as been answered before but I just can't seem to remember x
As someone who is disabled with many invisible disabilities, I love that you've discussed this. I hear way too often "just go get a job." "You're just lazy." And things like that... Which is extremely frustrating.
I think the question about "can you hear your own thoughts" assumes you've been deaf from birth, and don't have a practical concept or any experience hearing. A bit like a question for people who have been blind since birth may or may not be able to imagine what the color green looks like. When you have thoughts, do you "hear" them or "see" them or some other model of communicating with yourself in your head. That's what I think that question is asking.
That's how I read it as well. A bit like when people ask "when you dream, can you hear?" I have a hearing impairment and if I'm actively thinking about something (e.g. saying internally to myself "I need to go shopping"), I can hear because I know what my own voice sounds like as it wasn't a from-birth thing and I'm not "profoundly deaf", but if my mind just wanders, I tend not to, especially if I'm daydreaming or if my thought/dream is not me (e.g. a person I've only recently met)
I can actually offer some insight into hearing your thoughts. The first bit is few people actually can hear their thoughts, which means most people don't have a voice in their head rambling over the information being given to them. Secondly, being able to hear your thoughts is a common sign of Neurodivergence. Which to give a brief explanation as to what that means, it refers to people who's brains are structured differently. This is commonly associated with autism but can apply to other mental conditions as well. So in short if you can hear your thoughts you are likely Neurodivergent.
@@eveescastle5866 I thought one of the problems people with autism have is that they don't use their inner voice. Do you have any references discussing nerodivergence and inner speech?
@@eveescastle5866 both me and my boyfriend are autistic (as well as my hearing impairment/other fun stuff) so that would make sense to why we both experience that!
Use whatever sign language you wish. Someone expecting you to speak only their language on your own channel is a bit ridiculous. Also, I am American have a tiny amount of ASL knowledge and love seeing different sign languages! Love your videos. You and Claudia are the cutest and couple goals. Your dogs are adorable. That is all.
It's so frustrating and hurtful. especially when people try to insist you'll be fine doing whatever you are purposefully avoiding due to the disability(s).
Im sorry, but really? I mean it depends of the intentions, but I have always thought that its better than hearing the opposite: „you really look so disabled”
Yes, personally I only get upset if it's said with ill intent. For me the worst is people telling me I shouldnt be using a disability scooter, my disability parking pass or tell me to "hurry up". These things are hurtful.
The comment may not have been designed to be hurtful. But every person who makes it has that unspoken second thought on their mind. "So why are you doing /not doing X thing?" Just because it isn't said doesn't mean it isn't transmitted.
My brother has been looking in to how thoughts work, and apparently approximately half of the world think in voices and words and the other half thinks in pictures. Hope that helped and sorry for my English, I am danish.
I think in words! I noticed because I change language in my thoughts. But I don't necessarily "hear" my thoughts, it's more like I know that they're there? I also sort my memories by colour, but I think that's because I have an colour-emotion relating synestesia?
About the internal thoughts question: I’m constantly bombarded with my internal monologue, often it shifts from first to second person. As a kid, I would narrate my day to myself. My mind is always full, so I have conversations with my mind and as a result I don’t feel lonely... But I definitely should get out more lol
About thoughts: Everyone thinks differently, but I 'hear' my own thoughts. They are not in my own voice, they are in their own voice (thank goodness, my voice is awful!) or sometimes in the voices of people I know.
@@bean9333 See I can remember things visually but my thoughts are audio. Like I think "I gotta do this" and like now as I type this I can hear the words in my head like I'm saying them. But my memories are mostly visual.
I have a variety of voices in my head talking to each other. Like if I'm not sure what to buy, there'll be a couple of voices having a conversation about the pros and cons of this product or that one.
A series of the how to dress vintage would be appreciated because I prefer your vintage style since it looks like it's a bunch of different eras mixed with modern style rather than just one specific era. Not going to lie I just also like the poofy skirts 😔😂🥰
She started saying that she probably went deaf because of migraines... And I got scared because this past couple of years I've been having inexplicably horrible migraines... I'm 17, so yeah, I'm definitely going too go to a neurologist (even tho I'll have to pay for it cause my mom doesn't want to and she's saying I'm exaggerating and that those doctor are bad)
People are always going to say you're exaggerating but they don't know shit. People 'know' you are in pain but if you don't have a rash or cast or something visual they tend to forget and downplay it. Fuck them, do what's right for you.
Yeah my mom used to think I was over exaggerating about my migraines until they got so bad I'd spend days at a time in a dark room. And then much later she started having migraines too and was amazed how bad they are lol
alexa enriquez escareño I never considered the two were related. I see a neurologist and have chronic migraines and also have not great hearing. Now I’m wondering 🧐 also hope you’ve got to see a neurologist by now! They can be quite booked and hard to get an appt
Yes, please do a "how to start dressing vintage" video! And is it rude to say that I am glad you are using subtitels even if i am not deaf? I´m not a native speaker and dont listen to a british accent that often. :D
Sometimes I also use subtitles for content with unfamiliar, hard-to-understand accents and for content with a lot of whispering/mumbling/background noise despite not being deaf/hoh, or when I want to watch something but keep getting distracted, and I try to keep my mind focused by both listening AND reading the same thing. No shame in that, that’s why having subtitles on everything is cool, it helps a bunch of people for a bunch of different equally valid reasons yay

@@bookl0ver That's not really true. Anything plastic is bad for the environment. There is no good method of disposal, only bad ones and worse ones. Even recycling is hugely energy intensive. If someone is disabled and really needs a plastic straw, and finds that paper, metal, or glass straws don't work as well for them, then that's completely reasonable and they should keep using them. But for the rest of us they should really not be used.
@@junbh2 Yeah, good point. I think maybe the broader point should probably be: we need alternatives to plastic for more or less everything, rather than eradicating a useful tool for many people for the sake of reducing a miniscule amount of plastic, and ignoring the much larger issues. Again, great point. Hope this doesn't seem argumentative, I'm in full agreement
Yes, I want all the vintage tips and tricks! A helpful getting started video would be so appreciated! Your aesthetic is absolutely marvelous and I think a lot of people would love to know how you developed your fashion sense over the years. Also I adore all your videos even if they are not about vintage fashion~
Some people do have thoughts in language, in their own voice, and can experience a sensation of “hearing” their own thoughts. Some people think in concepts, some people think in images or written word, etc. I can “hear” my own voice and inflection in my head saying these words as I type them. There are different types of ‘inner voice’ as it’s sometimes called :) For example, some people cannot “imagine” images or pictures at all, they cannot “picture” things in their mind, but they can describe the images as concepts in their head. I
So on the "hear your thoughts" vein: I hear an inner monologue in my own voice when I think. I usually think in full words and sentences, but my husband thinks in images and feelings. So I hear myself think.... But my husband doesn't! Which I always found interesting.
Hi jessica ...doubt you'll see this as you'll have of messages but your totally fantastic. I too have a connective tissue disorder EDS, POTS and pressure palsy (not your long name one lol), I'm a tongue cancer survivor (had half tongue removed radiotherapy and all the damage that leaves inc memory damage lol), CRPS ...AND oddly I have learnt sign language since I was in secondary school and recently got a qualifications and plan to get more if my memory gets better. Any who that reads as I've got that too...aka disability trump cards but I just meant it as ...thank you for highlighting the conditions while looking fabulous....ps you and your wife look perfect together.. xx keep it up lovely ...
Why though? Different people, ragardless of wether they have a disabilty or not, can have very different experiences with experiencing their own thoughs
I think the “can you hear your own thoughts” question is really asking “do you think in words or ideas/images.” To an extent, I think everyone is able to do some amount of both, but I don’t think being deaf is the defining feature here. Like, hearing people can think in ideas/pictures as well. Personally, though, I typically think in words. So, yeah, you could say that I can ‘hear’ my own thoughts.
Thank you for this video. The more information that is out there, the better for everybody. People can be so rude, especially when it comes to invisible illnesses. I use a mobility scooter sometimes because of intense fatigue and joint pain/muscle weakness. Thank you for this.
Does Clara use signs when she talks with you? Does having a person do sign interpreting while making a video cost a lot of money? Is it difficult to coordinate? Do you find that some interpreters are better than others? What traits do you find most helpful with interpreters?
Great questions...to answer one. I believe she has mentioned in one of her videos that she has a somewhat regular interpreter that she will have help her. When she is not available Jessica will hire others as far in advance as possible. Even so, she has had many occasions where one is not available.
You also generally need to book multiple interpreters. Asking a single interpreter to sign for an 8 hour day would be extreme. They often have to work in a team, allowing their colleagues to rest as interpreting and signing places them under an extreme mental load.
Hiya! Sign language interpreters are very expensive indeed, and they book up well in advance so you have to plan it very well! I have two trusted interpreters who I prefer to work with, because they've been with me for years, so we have a great understanding of each other. Clara knows very basic signs which is useful when we are out and about, but I mainly lip-read. xx
Thanks again for bringing your voice to people with disabilities, including those of us with invisible disabilities. I know yours aren't always invisible, but teaching people that appearances can be deceiving, and to have more empathy for others (it's not hard, just believe people with disabilities, folks!), is really important! ❤️
I use the signs in your videos to help me improve my BSL. Please sign more! Seeing them in context is 100% more useful than "20 animals in BSL" because nobody ever remembers vocab lists.

I’m 32 have had MS since I was 18 fibro since I was 24 and Hemeplegic and chronic migraines for around 5 years and an undiagnosed soft tissue disease. yes, as far as i know most abled people think their thoughts as themselves speaking to themselves, i for an example can never clear my mind completely so my thoughts never stop talking, making it quite hard to fall asleep. i also know this is also pretty common
How interesting. I had this conversation with a friend recently, and I'm amused again that I thought it was much more common for people to see words spelled out (makes it devilishly hard to get puns, for sure) or in pictures, like I do. I do also "hear" my internal narrative as well, but it's not really my voice? Like right now, it's Jessica's, and tomorrow it might be whoever else I with a pleasant voice that I listened to for a long stretch, like the one time I watched a lot of QI and then had to read a technical manual and Stephen Fry was the one reading it to me in my head, but mostly it's just... another voice. And it's definitely secondary to the text words.
I'm very happy you made this video. There are so many misunderstandings with disabilities & invisible illnesses. It's just not common knowledge enough for people to understand how unique each person's struggles & successes can be!
I completely adore you and your lovely bride. As someone who also has multiple chronic illnesses, I find myself feeling down, periodically. Like you, I’m a happy, upbeat person, and I struggle with the isolation and depression that sometimes gets the better of me. omg ur right

Some people have an internal monologue and can “hear” their own thoughts. Other people have abstract thoughts
I thought everyone had internal dialogue lol I've just recently learned that is not the case. I am one who does have tons of inner dialogue hahaha
Same im always narrating my life so in actual conversations -she- I still refer to -herself- myself in 3rd person
it's so wild that someone's thoughts can be in an entirely different format than yours! i'm definitely a narrator and it's rly hard to wrap my head around the concept of not thinking that way
@Karla Catalan It's when you think in concepts and images and vague ideas, the things that words represent, without actually bothering to translate them into words because that's not how your brain stores information. My sister is like that, meanwhile my internal dialogue is basically all words because to me they're integrally related to the concepts.
I've always had a internal dialog, I used to think it was normal until I was told it wasn't. I've had to learn to keep some of the things inside my head
Forgetting her memory loss in the wrong category it's a little ironic.

"why does she need a straw she's deaf" like what kinda-
Thats what i thought! Like- most people have to use straws because of teeth issues or just... Because they feel like it
I have to use a straw because I will choke on any food without a drink and will aspirate without a straw.
@@tknofski i hope you're ok with me asking this, do you think it would work with metal straws instead of plastic? or is that a bad idea?
@Sam bamboo straws work well with hot liquids due to their extra wooden lining on the inside.
Honestly didn’t realize the impact on disabled people with something as simple as straws. Like now that she’s said it, it makes sense.
“My wife has an anatomy degree so she can put things back when they fall out” reminds me of Death Becomes Her vibes love it
Jessica brings joy, humour and optimism to my life. So the world does need her. Screw those anti-disabled/straw peeps.
I don’t get how a reusable straw or paper straws can’t work in their place though?
TheMurrmursonbottle plenty of people have written on this - not long lasting for ppl who cant drink fast, not bite proof for ppl who dont have jaw control, etc etc etc
"It's fine, my doctor says so" and "they think genocide is cool." I laughed so hard. Your delivery is perfection ❤
Jessica please put your 'deafness' outtakes at the end of the videos. I spend my whole life saying 'what?' & 'pardon?' and guessing what people are saying. I relate to most things you post lol x
Yes! A blooper reel at the end of the video would be great! :D
I would LOVE and so greatly appreciate this, while I was fortunate enough to have my 1/3 deafness mostly fixed. I vividly remember being yelled at for not hearing properly, and I know it would make me and others feel much better to see how a lot of us went through or go through it every day.
It could be on the pateron
The "can you hear your own thoughts?" thing...
The "internal monologue" has been discussed a lot recently in my social media circles. It seems that some people can 'hear' words in their mind, others don't, they have to speak aloud to hear how something sounds.
This is similar to the "mind's eye" where some people can actually visualise things. I cannot, I just kinda know how things would look but I can't "see" it in my mind.
I actually have both, most of my thoughts are "speaking" but I can also visualize things in incredible detail
Possibly using wheat starch as a foodsafe glue?
I mean he could just not use a straw🤷♀️ (unless ofc he has some sort of disability that makes him actually need one). If he really loves using a straw there are many different reusable options (glas, metal, bamboo, silicone)
@@Reutviv even then, those that are in need plastic straws are most likely to WASH them and make them last. Bamboo are extremely hard to clean and if you have any physical disabilities in combination to those that stop you from using paper, glass is a breakable material and may cause injury, silicone allergies etc.
If you can use other straws that’s good but, there’s a lot of reasons why other types of straws may not be suitable for some people, and there’s ways to REUSE plastic as to not be wasteful.
i’m convinced that people who recommend using paper straws have never actually used a paper straw
i also want to add that there’s no evidence to support the claim that paper straws contain gluten or gluten byproducts (per the national celiac association). the material used to make wheat-based straws is the byproduct left over after the grain is harvested which do not contain gluten. plus the straws don’t “break down” during use so there’s no risk of ingesting any of the product
Three hundred sign languages?!?! What?! Wow! Thanks for educating me today! I had no idea.
Frankly folks need a break. It’s challenging to be a carer all the time and also be a lover. And it is important to have a lover.
I would definitely be interested in a “How to start dressing vintage” video!

You can enjoy a pretty dress if you're male. You do you.
A bit like when people ask "when you dream, can you hear?"
I have a hearing impairment and if I'm actively thinking about something (e.g. saying internally to myself "I need to go shopping"), I can hear because I know what my own voice sounds like as it wasn't a from-birth thing and I'm not "profoundly deaf", but if my mind just wanders, I tend not to, especially if I'm daydreaming or if my thought/dream is not me (e.g. a person I've only recently met)
@@jasper5222 Exactly!

Im sorry, but really? I mean it depends of the intentions, but I have always thought that its better than hearing the opposite: „you really look so disabled”

@@katarzynas5220 depends on the context. Obviously it's harmful with the intention of telling you you're faking it/don't need help
The comment may not have been designed to be hurtful. But every person who makes it has that unspoken second thought on their mind. "So why are you doing /not doing X thing?" Just because it isn't said doesn't mean it isn't transmitted.

Jessica: hold my beer............ No seriously can someone hold it I cant pick it up. *sigh* time to break out my trusty straw. As I was saying...... My disabilities.......
crispy noodle this made me laugh harder than I’d like to admit
@@alexhornewer8396 I am glad to hear that my fine dandy dude.
I read it in her voice LOL
This- HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAhahahaaa...........this made me laugh way harder than its supposed to
She probably can't even drink beer because of the medications she takes
I had to laugh at the memory loss moment, because the "up next" video for me is.... The one about memory loss hahaha
You are an amazing person and I love your videos - I love how you are so up-front about your struggles with your health, and your positivity really helps to pick me up when I'm having a down-day myself. Stay Awesome Lovely!

Jessica could you bring up the fact that fishing nets are more harmful then the plastic straws and that we should be working to band those.
Inventive i think fishing nets themselves aren’t harmful. It’s incorrect disposal etc.
The fishing industry too big but a change could most likely be made
@@DivinityFallen same with straws. If we didnt dump them in the ocean they'd be fine. They're not inherently bad for the environment.
Would LOVE a “How-To Vintage” video !!💓🙏🏻
Some people do have thoughts in language, in their own voice, and can experience a sensation of “hearing” their own thoughts.
Some people think in concepts, some people think in images or written word, etc.
I can “hear” my own voice and inflection in my head saying these words as I type them. There are different types of ‘inner voice’ as it’s sometimes called :)
For example, some people cannot “imagine” images or pictures at all, they cannot “picture” things in their mind, but they can describe the images as concepts in their head. I
I do a weird combo of both.
So on the "hear your thoughts" vein:
I hear an inner monologue in my own voice when I think. I usually think in full words and sentences, but my husband thinks in images and feelings. So I hear myself think.... But my husband doesn't! Which I always found interesting.
Please do a video on wheelchair accessible vintage dresses.
YASSSSSSS
... Are there wheelchair-inaccessible vintage dresses? (honestly asking, not sure what's involved)
‘How do you cope when you’re feeling down?’
“THE SIMS 4” BAHAHAH ME
Also ‘can you hear your own thoughts’ I laughed so HARD
Clara knows very basic signs which is useful when we are out and about, but I mainly lip-read. xx
Ig-nat-ius I have met Australians who know American SL, so you might be able to find an interpreter who knows ASL. Have a great time on your trip!
Thanks again for bringing your voice to people with disabilities, including those of us with invisible disabilities. I know yours aren't always invisible, but teaching people that appearances can be deceiving, and to have more empathy for others (it's not hard, just believe people with disabilities, folks!), is really important! ❤️
How do u have that icon next to your name?
I use the signs in your videos to help me improve my BSL. Please sign more! Seeing them in context is 100% more useful than "20 animals in BSL" because nobody ever remembers vocab lists.
Kaitie Lacuna Have you not watched the video ?
sera uh did you not read their comment?
I love your attitude to happiness. I agree, some days one has to make a "choice to be happy".
I had never thought that straws of different could make it more difficult for certain disabilities! I absolutely live your content!!! You are so articulate, and always show such empathy and ligical reasoning its just amazing!! Plus i also love your vintage style and thank you for sharing your journey! Keep the wonderful work !
Jessica. You are a gorgeous human being. Inside and out. You're vintage look is beautiful, and suits you so much. On the inside however, your personality shines and makes me happy when I watch you. Your happiness is infectious. I love watching your videos. Thankyou.
P. S. Love the lipstick. It really suits you. :)
Ugh, Americans. Always thinking we're the center of the world 😒(this is in response to the signing part)
Rogan Shannon ahaha ok.
This part.
@Jagar Tharn being "American" is a nationality not a race.
@Jagar Tharn DUMB
I don't see where she said it was Americans that complained. Did she?
As one of the people who frequent this channel but wasn't subscribed: I've been called out. I love your channel very much and why haven't I subscribed? So I'm subscribed now! Thank you for the awesome content!
I love your vintage style. Very Beautiful. It reminds me of ,one of my favorite show, The Waltons. Like, watching, that show when I was child.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who went partially deaf from chronic migraines! I’m also glad your so happy we need more people like you
Yes please do a how to dress vintage video!! :D
The background is so pretty. And you are so lovely
On a happier note, your dogs must LOVE the fact that one of their humans is home at all times. They only have to adapt to one of you guys coming and going daily, they must really like that lol
I found this channel yesterday and subscribed straight away. I’m binge watching all of your videos! I’m 32 have had MS since I was 18 fibro since I was 24 and Hemeplegic and chronic migraines for around 5 years and an undiagnosed soft tissue disease. The moment you said that your doctors thought that migraines caused you to become deaf just hit me. I’m in the middle of a Hemeplegic migraine attack with the most excruciating head pain I can even comprehend for a month straight. It’s a real worry and I’m not going to lie its panicking me the damage it’s causing me long term. Short term wise I don’t even what to do with myself so I’m sat in bed watching your delightful personality. I have a little nearly 8 month old in bed TG and my wonderful hubby and an incredible support system. I relate so much to a massive amount of what you’re saying with the ignorant of the way people perceive you.
Just want to say on a diff not you are a freaking goddess!!! Xxx
Using a wheelchair is like wearing glasses some people need it more than others🤷♀️
Omg can you do a video about the books you write and your writing!? Also a I'd love to see a beginners guide to vintage
you are like the personification of elegance!!!
Hi Jessica!
I’m not the first,
I’m not the last,
But most importantly,
I clicked pretty dang fast! 💖
Ria T oh no, is this going to be a thing now??
Decoy Sheet what do u mean?
Oh my goodness you got me when you said “I can see that you keep watching, I see the analytics” and I hadn’t even realized that I Hadn’t subscribed yet 🤣
I love your aesthetic style. It matches perfectly with your crisp accent and upbeat personality to send just the right message of taste and loveliness.
We need to see pictures of child Jessica in a Victorian smock!
She posted a lovely school photo on Twitter the other day
Lanna's Missing Link I’ll have to go check it out! Thanks
"are you a lesbian?" NOOO! what makes anyone think that?! xD I'm SO sorry, but come on.
"but she's just deaf?" oh dear.
NotDeadJustYet
Well in fairness, if you hadn’t seen many of her other videos you could think she was bi/queer etc.
But def not straight🤣
I honestly thoughts she WAS just dead before this video. It blew my mind.
Szybka Panterka you mean DEAF, I hope? She is very much alive!
There are loads of lipstick lesbians out there, besides she is from the gay capital of the UK.
yes, as far as i know most abled people think their thoughts as themselves speaking to themselves, i for an example can never clear my mind completely so my thoughts never stop talking, making it quite hard to fall asleep. i also know this is also pretty common
My ADHD does that to me. Some nights I can not sleep. But my psychiatrist gave me sleep meds and I can sleep now 😭😊
I'm very happy you made this video.
You inspire me and give me hope, and seeing you so blissfully in love reminds me that I’m so lucky to be married to my soul mate, too. Love, light, and blessings to both of you, and your adorable fur babies.
I think a house tour would be really cool I would like to see what you’re new house looks like
I would absolutely love a how to vintage tutorial! Mostly out of curiosity but also you always look so happy talking about dresses a whole video would make my day ❤️❤️❤️
Jessica is an absolute inspiration. Seeing her talk about Claudia is absolutely radiant!
I love how vintage you are and your favorite franchise is fast and furious, i'll never get over it
Your demeanor is so light and delicate, I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and I already have developed the habit to play your videos all day in the background for music. I’m going to spam my friends with your videos as well. The effort you put into your videos is very clear and your aesthetic is comforting and beautiful. As well your sense of humor and topics are charming and always intresting.
