I remember when my mom would travel with a beauty case, as we called it. I still miss that we can’t do that anymore. I still have my grandmother’s beauty case. Covered in engraved leather. Really pretty. Think it’s South-American craftsmanship.
@@MyVintageLove I was asking mom about her beauty case. It was a Samsonite. A brand that was a big deal back then. I wish she had kept it. It was extremely sturdy and good quality. I can still remember how the inside smelled: a mix of various of her beauty products.
You could definitely use just a sleek vintage cigarette case as a wallet. That's what I do, but I definitely need a purse for all today's bobs (ex: phone, car keys, makeup bag, pencil pouch, knife, etc.)

I am fortunate enough to have one of these compact/cigarette cases that used to be my grandmother's. It is beautiful as are the one in your collection. I always wondered, though, how did they get the lipstick and powders in the cases. Because my grandmother's lipstick tube is completely empty. Looks like it never had anything in it.
That's wonderful that you have one of your grandmother's compacts- I wish I had some that belonged to my grandmother as well. I'm not 100% sure how they got the lipsticks into the cases- I have a few where the lipstick tube is also completely empty. I think back in the day there were places where women could go to get lipstick bullets made to put in the tubes. I believe Besamé Cosmetics does something like that at their store.
Most of these compacts were empty or only had powder remnants. I don't have the exact date for each compact; I tried to give as much information about the date as I have; I don't know the exact date for each one.
Do you mean the powder puffs? They're usually some kind of silky material and maybe acrylic of some sort? Current powder puffs are pretty similar actually, just larger than what's in most vintage compacts.
@@MyVintageLove No, what I often see in the tray where the powder goes, the ones for loose powder with a lid, have a rim of some fuzzy material. I think it's a gasket that prevents the powder from coming out of the sides when closing it. I have some I would like to use and all the ones I find have this. It's hard to clean.

I have a Stratton music compact the power never been used, is it worth anything
I’m not sure. If you look up similar compacts on EBay or Etsy it will give you a sense of it’s value.
