Probably one of the best videos of this ridge that I have seen. Well done guys. Huge respect 🙏🏻
I just did it yesterday. It makes me feel a lot better about my climbing abilities to see you guys strugging the same as I did. I also agree the path down is a killer
Excellent filming brings it all back. We made the mistake of descending via the Clachaig Gulley as it appeared to be the quickest way to the pub, brutal especially with tired legs. My wife and I are now in our late 70s, so having ‘walked’ the ridge, twice for me(once in winter), we can content ourselves with holding the heights we won. Thank you for bringing back such happy memories. Steve
Great video lads, I especially enjoyed the drone footage. Brought back great memories of my hike about twenty years ago when I was about fifty years young. I’ll never forget that crazy jump down at the Pinnacles. Wise words at the end. Well done and happy trails.
Couldn't watch it the music was just far too irritating😢
@@fordprefect4345 What you talking about? the Music matches PERFECTLY with the footage - its called sound engineering
@@tileshp3762 In my world it's called insipid lift music and distracts me from what looks like a great vid. But what do I know. Billions of flies love shit maybe I got that wrong to. 😂
I would be on my hands an knees a gibbering wreak, they would of have to get a helicopter to get me down not that I would of got that far ,
Excellent film. The nervous whistling adds to the atmspheric camera work🙂.Hope your parents aren't watching!...
Fantastic footage and a great climb: well done! I don't think I'd be tempted to try it now at my age. Was surprised at how close you were to each other: I'd be worried about one slip and you're all off like dominoes - be careful up there!
Brilliant footage and narrating. Absolutely love this ridge. Done it 3x now and want to go back and do it in winter conditions 😳🤞😂
Excellent footage. Did it solo on my 50th. Along with the Ring of Steahl the day after. 👍
Well done lads, did it in the eighties, you did a great job with the Drone ,thirsty work but well worth it!
Be careful boys there have been some terrible fatalities on that ridge recently
That is a fine vid, and sensible advice.
40 years since I last did that. A magic route.
Be fit. Strength helps.
(TBH I've found the toughest bit is getting up Am Bodach in the morning - it is a bit of a brute. And it isn't a Munro - doesn't count. There is a Munro called Am Bodach , in the Mamores not far away. The name translates as 'Old Man''. Like me but I'm not a Munro either.)
If the weather is iffy, either stay in the pub or make sure you have the experience and the kit. It can sock in there in minutes - I've been caught on Bidean nam Bian across the glen in 20 minutes.
A beautifully calming narration balances your heart-pounding footage!
Amazing lads im to old now really enjoyed it
Nice work and great footage!
Fantastic video , I've done Striding edge and Sharp Edge in Cumbria. Brilliant fun in the dry , I'd like to give this a go.
Well done all , you only live once !!
Really good video, thanks.
Done it twice last year and really enjoyed it in different weather.
Always think (two feet-ten feet).
Where you are and where you want to go next.
Always stay focused and enjoy the day.
Crazy!!! Very nice video
Thanks 👍
An excellent video with great drone footage. Just pick up on one point the Am Bodach you referred to is north of you in the Mamores. The one on your ridge isn’t a Munro. That aside the video is a very good watch.
Beuuutifulll... 🗻👍👍
Awesome vidio!! Holy moly!! I thought crib goch was as bad as it gets!! Would love to attempt this one day!! Just watching it ain't easy never mind actually doing it!!
Nice video. At nearly 60 with arthritic knees, I won't bother trying it myself though!
I did this with no climbing experience and it was friggin terrifying. When the guides say 'some climbing experience and a good level of fitness required' they don't mean 'assume it'll be fine and you'll be awrite'. One slip and you're a gonner.
🤣🤣
Looks like you guys came down off the ridge via the Clachaig Gully route. That's the traditional route and most direct path down, but avoiding it entirely is highly recommended these days as the ground is extremely steep, heavily eroded, and sadly its the site of numerous fatalities in recent years. The alternative is to continue West and head down to join the Pap of Glencoe path. This is also very steep with a lot of scree underfoot 90% of the way down, but it's considered to be marginally safer. Regardless, great video and good detail on what to expect on the crazy pinnacles!
Ah that's good to know, it was an incrediby tiring and difficult descent! Thanks for the kind words
Agreed clachaig gully route is an accident black spot. Pap of glencoe route is fine but adds a bit of time getting to the pub
The crazy pinnacles section looks a bit like Crib Goch in terms of narrowness and exposure but with more hands-on-rock scrambling. I wonder if most of the battle is mental rather than physical or technical.
If i was daft enougth to try this mountain rescue would definitely have to be called out to get me back down.
Awesome video and what spectacular scenery. What climbing experience had you and your mates got before you did this?
Brilliant video, the filming is excellent. I really like how the filmmakers show the awkwardness of the climbs.
The only thing that grates at the nerves is the woeful pronunciation of the Gaelic names. Why do English people think it is beneath them to pronounce non-English words correctly?
Was the descent down the Clachaig gully?
I took one look at the pinnacles and went all the way back. There was absolutely no way I was going over there. Kudos to those who do, but my instinct for self-preservation is too strong.
Lovely fiddle track on Section 2 .
What is it ?
Two tunes by the band Talisk! First one is aptly named ‘The Hills’ and the second is ‘Echo’
What is the music its "mega."
You did it, so that sane people don't have to.
Do you have a lot rock climbing experience? Just trying to get a feel of how much climbing experience you had before doing this too check if I'm on the level to attempt it.
Yeh, we all had a god amount of outdoor climbing experience before we tackled the ridge. I'd say if you don't have much climbing experience it's going to be a scary and potentially dangerous day out! Like some of the other comments have said, there have been fatalities on the ridge.
It's really your mental ability to deal with the exposure that counts on this ridge, the scrambling itself is actually not that hard
Wow! But not for me !
nope. crib goch is a coulple of inches narrower
Nicely done lads, enjoyed that. It is Grade 1 with Grade 2 bits though, and not a Grade 3.
buhh background music, why? gen z?
