    This is an inert mine used in naval training. The United States Navy trains personnel in the most realistic conditions as possible on a repetitive basis.

      add in the activity from above, there have been 3-8 up in the air, P8's and P3's fly up and down the coast of Florida and running patterns of the coast almost every day for 3-4 weeks, those are sub hunters and the Russian sub went missing a few weeks ago, so something is certainly happening in the Atlantic.

      The reporter clearly stated it's a training mine, it has INERT stamped on it meaning it poses no threat and it's exactly the type of mine which was used before, during and after WW11, a simple Google search of sea mine images will confirm it, some mines were set off by a change in the magnetic fields surrounding them and others were contact mines and this is a contract mine.

    Reminds me of a mad magazine cartoon from way back; A person on the beach with shovel and metal detector, the detector going off. In the dream bubble over his head is a vision of a treasure chest full of gold and jewels. Underneath him buried deep in the sand is one of those horned naval mines.

    Says INERT, so, NO it was not active at any point. If it was any risk to the public at all the DoD would've sent out EOD teams to deal with it.
