Will probably take a while till the next season. Im reading the manga too and we are pretty much at the current chapter with this episode they even cut some minor things out so that the episode could air on time because the chapter released I think one day later.
A good ending from my opinion, better than ending it with cliffhanger and need to wait for years for the next season.
Some good isekai are coming Chibi, don’t give up hope!

It took me until literally right now to get that the demon looking dude was referring to Rimuru summoning a demon to inhabit a golem for Ramiris when he said "my family got ahead of me".
ya that was what i was thinking when i saw him in the serie, wonder if they jumped over the demon summoning cuz it was like that in the light novel/manga or if it was just done to not have to make 1 more episode.
That demon with the crystal ball was one of Rimiru' s [spoiler]. A major player in the 2nd half of the series.
The demon in the golem was another one of Rimiru' s random decisions based on some of some skipped content where Rimiru learns to summon demons while getting an adventurers license.

That whole scene felt like a bit of foreshadowing to me. When Veldora reacted, I felt like she has some connection to the dragon - was she one who sealed him? But why? At this rate we have to get a Season 2.
She resembles the hero that sealed veldora so it could mean that she went back in time to stop and seal veldora and that explains the mask wanting to go to its master

I'm very surprise they made as many episodes as they did. I was expecting 12 episodes then them waiting for more content and then doing a season 2 but I was pleasantly surprised It went to 23. You know the typical routine for most animes. ;p
The thing is that this series has been running for a long while now and is already finished. We currently have seen about 1/5 of the total story so in theory it should be possible for that time I reincarnated as a slime to have 100 episodes.
@@IRrebel3 Actually, the story isn't finished. While the web novel is indeed over, the light novel, which is what both the anime and the manga are being adapted from, is still ongoing.
But it's only at the point where there's just enough content for two more 24-25 episode seasons, plus a possible 13 episode season (4 volumes for seasons 2 & 3, 2 volumes for season 4, i'm not counting the 2 story recap volumes). It'll still be a while before the light novel is truly finished.
This Episode 23 is the end of the main story for this season. Episode 24 and 25 are extra episodes. This episode showed a bit of man in "Black" suit looking at the crystal ball where he mentioned his family/kin/subordinate went ahead of him for the summon. He is referring to the Demon that took the Doll Golem's body. Next episode will be a total anime only new story, about him (Black) and Shizue (Masked). I have totally no idea about how they going to connect these two and link with the story, so I am quite excited about it. Episode 25 will be on Veldora's Diary. For the Extra Episodes, I feel is going to be like a point of view of the story from another character's view.
This whole season is basically a huge prologue set up and introduce of the main characters from Rimuru's side to prepare for the great arc ahead in next season if any. This season basically is mostly from Rimuru point of view and abit like his dairy or him telling his story of "That time I got reincarnated as a Slime" to someone.
Ya, a lot of plot seeds planned, which very much indicate/suggest that there might be a season 2. My prediction is there might be a movie first then season 2 like many of the hit LN like overlord, and Shojo Senki (Saga of Tanya the evil).
Pacing wise, yup I agree the later part is kind of a bit rush, as many details are skipped or cut out. It might be better if they make use of the 2 episodes for these things. However, those part mainly have little fight involved so people might fight it boring I guess? You can check out the manga and LN (up to vol.4) for the miss out things and maybe see what is different? The Anime does add in some stuff that manga and LN didn't have, like in EP 1 where Veldora mentioned about the topic Summoned, but in Manga only mentioned about "Otherworlders".
I love the recap song. This episode also shows Hinata (she is a female tom-boyish, although she looks like a male) appearing watching Rimuru and Ranga from behind at the last part. Hinata was Shizu's student that surpassed her when Shizu is in her prime. There will be a fight between the two if there is a season 2. The spirit body that looks like in wedding dress that kissed Rimuru with some flashback of the hero and Veldora give hints on the connect with the Hero and Chole, plus the give away of the mask to Chole. Beside the OP1, check back on EP8 on Shizu-san's flashback on the Hero for more hints. or EP1 Veldora's Flashback on the Hero. See the Hero's outfit/cloths.
Overall I think quite a nice close up for the main story for this season. Looking forward to the next week's original Extra Episode. The next arc and followings are linked up, and you won't want it to stop halfway. You'll need to refer back to things in this season when there is next season or future seasons.

I think the Hinata should be mentioned (the woman behind the tree). Without any spoilers, they stopped right before a major scene with her. I'm not sure how they will connect it, because a couple of thing that should've happened one way went the other. Overall I liked this series but as a LN and WN reader I just know how critical some of the information missing is, and I think they could've done better tough I do understand the timing issue.

So that spirit that inhabited Chloe went right for rimuru and kissed him. This is right after Chloe just confessed to Rimuru and he said to himself maybe if u were 10 years older. And this spirit is supposed to be from the future and looks like an older version of Chloe. So...did she just get inhabited by her future selfs spirit or something? And why would her future self come back to the past? maybe something bad happened and she came back somehow. Def need a season 2.

The next arc was supposed to start this episode, this is what should have happened for a season 2 cliffhanger- the women behind the tree should have stopped mr.slime, Tempest has grown to a point where its a problem for a rival county and a religion built off the the killing of monsters so they are in the middle of being attacked while mr.slime is saying his goodbyes. Personally i think this would be a good stoping point because they would have to make a season 2 for a continuation.
They would probably use this difference in events to showcase chloe's powers in the next season (or the one after that)...

I honestly think that on the 1st episode of season 2 they will fight. Rimuru might receive the warning from Soei and teleport to the city and at this point Hinata will stop him. Without the fight a future arc will get changed quite a bit

Chloe is the hero that sealed velodora. She is also the one demon lord Leon is looking for. She ends up as one of the most powerful character's. The spirit from the future was sent back to Chloe's past self every time she died to accomplish what her future self couldn't.
It's blatantly obvious that she is supposed to be the reincarnation of the hero that sealed Valdora and the spirit body from the future is the hero that sealed Valdora inhabiting her body now, that why she kissed rimuru and why Valdora reacted to the girl and the spirit.

chloe and leon are childhood friends, that got summoned together, they both have the hero egg but only chloe fully hatched it, one of her powers is being able to send her spirit to the past once she dies to sort of re start the time, she is the same hero who was shizu's teacher and imprisoned veldora, in the present time she has two bodies an adult one frozen in time guarded by demon lord ruminas and the child one who was summoned by yuuki. she as a true hero is powerfull enough to battle at the same time both guy who is a demond lord second only to millim in power and a sister of veldora who is even stronger than him.

Chloe’s confession made my heart melt, especially because she must have been so grateful to him for saving her and the other children. I enjoyed where they took this series, and am positive the story is not over for our slimy boi

Web novel reader here. The only thing I'll spoil is that the time loop you referred to is broken in the current timeline and time goes past where the spirit was looping. The veldora connection is better left to be discovered by watching season 2 and/or 3 when they'll explain it further. It's definitely a fantastic series and I hope they animate the whole thing, even if that takes 4 seasons. Thanks for the anime reviews. Cheers

Finished up yesterday, gonna wait a couple of weeks and I'll finish it dubbed. Good show, absolutely loved it and I'm going to miss catching the Jura Forest Gang every Monday. Hopefully, a season 2 is green lit soon!
The second half was a bit boring but I still really want a second season.

This entire season is basically an intro for the story.
It has basically prepared everyone of rimiru's personality and introduce (some or all being ambiguous to not ruin plot) major people e.g. the montage.
I will say assuming they follow closely as they have (mostly) to the source and also do a S2 it would be as good if not better then then S1.

I feel the same about the spirit being Chloe. When they showed it they showed an older version of her (in her teens I think). And is it just me or does Chloe resemble Shizu in her appearance?
She really did seem like the natural inheritor of Shizu's enchanted mask. I was not surprised when Rimuru passed on Shizu's mask to her. She looks like a loli Shizu/Shizu-lily to me, or is it just me?
I am not even surprised that she confessed her love to Rimuru. Or that Rimuru wished she was a bit older when she said that. It's only natural given how much Rimuru cares about Shizu, enough to carry on her wishes for her.
He didnt talk about hinata sakaguchi but anyways... Its not really important right now and it was cut a little bit from the manga
Since you did not dive into it there are 2 main things I want to bring up. First, is the odd shift to that important merchant. In the manga (so I assume in the LN) he started with having just passed through Tempest, and being informed of Rimuru through his gang of subordinates; well this matters because the sky dragon attacking the gate scene was originally meant to show that he was willing to take a hit to profits using some potions he had just purchased in Tempest, to save several people, and it also set up why he would waste so much money to provide the kids some meals also...
Secondly, and more importantly, Leon was a Light spirit user also... it was insinuated that the Light spirit that Kenny got was originally Leons/nearly identical to Leons. Heroes can become Demon Lords was more directly stated once again reffering to Leon. Recognize the weird signifacents please:
Earth spirit was givin to the oldest... that was the order you saw oldest to youngest; Ta-da.
Light spirit superior was givin to the firey and ENERGETIC one... Kenny maybe having Leons story happen to him.
Darkness (as I believe it was named in the manga/maybe the LN)/Space/Gravity/Phase/Teleport to the one with highest potential... as far as MC was concerned.
Wind/Water spirit givin to the Berserker... Water because of his chill nature and Wind for his Berserk mode... emotional type casting much?
Time... to the youngest and only other female... that happens to resemble the Hero and Shizu... and gets a spirit that by default resembles the prediction that Rimuru gets from the elves... that happen to be paid by the merchant we just met... that learned there craft in the area by where he currently is standing (that same nation)... by a future spirit of a questionable person??? yes, nothing but pure coincidence right?
As always fact check my points I believe I was remembering correctly.

That spirit that went inside Chloe was the hero that sealed Veldora and gave the magic seal mask. You probably missed it out but since it was really short.
Since a spirit from the future holds the Magic Seal Mask and Rimuru just gave that mask to someone for “no reason” there might be something fishy going on here just saying.

The demon is going to be named Diablo and is one of if not the most loyal subordinate of rimuru and worships rimuru like a god

I also felt that after the 12 episodes it wasn’t as good and that was because Rimini stopped progressing and nothing changed or grew in the second half

the anime pretty much ends at the first half of the LN and i am reading it and i can say it gets way way more interesting and lets say the least: we get something similar to RotSH (Rising of the Shield Hero) withing the first segment of the second half

I like how the “title” and “naming” system in Rimuru’s world is very similar to Japanese culture. Titles are very important for Japanese businesses and corporate structure. Elders and head of families are also shown great respect.
In our Slime’s world names and titles grant status and “evolved” power. While it would be cool(and ridiculous) to gain superpowers after being named the CEO of a company, it does grant you a higher level of respect in Japanese culture. I love how Slime plays on this cultural aspect in a fun and interesting way.

This anime was basically caught up with the manga translations at the moment. There’s like 2 chapters released ahead of it and that’s it
The novel is way way ahead of the manga, has prob enough for 4-5 seasons

Re zero is definitely getting a second season within the next 5 years max. I don't see why it wouldn't, the only reason there wasn't one sooner was because there wasn't enough content to adapt but by then I'm sure there will be enough.
I already know what happens later in the story of Re:Zero since I’m have been reading “TranslationChickens” translations of the web novel. I have read every chapter of arc 4 that’s on the site as of now, so I already what season 2 will be about. Plus I’m just waiting for that god damn ova to be leak or released online already. Also don’t post any spoilers for all the anime only normies, because we all know people are gonna be hit hard by season 2.

The spirit is Chloe herself. The kiss was because she loves Rimuru. The older version of Chloe is the spirit that is a space time celestial body. She has been traveling for years in the spirit realm because the time she knows has been destroyed by evil. She also dies in those time lines as well. But because of her powers she keeps going back in time to try and fine a timeline when she has a better chance to save the world. The spirit is Chloe and Chloe is the hero.

This point is definitely the best to end it, as you said. I can only go by the WN, but given that the LN typically has more content or has almost the same content in much more detail, I don't feel too bad by saying that the next best point to end an anime season on is at least 12, maybe closer to 24 episodes from here.
I can fully understand that they had to make some hard calls on the content they included and the pacing issues that resulted from that.
What I don't quite get is how they ended up with the decisions they ultimately made, as there are some things they dragged on way longer than I would have while other things got left out that I thought would have been really important to keep in.
Just as an example, Rimuru basically learns magic by taking a stroll through the library, absorbing the information of all the books there and leaving the Great Sage to integrate the information into his knowledge over time. They could have made a short scene for that so we at least understand how he learns magic (and by extension other things linke how to summon a demon).
On the other hand, they had the long campfire scene with the Clown Troupe and the subordinates of Carion, which I think could have worked as a short scene, probably without dialogue, either leaving more room for expanding on the stuff before (and giving more context to stuff set up there that we'll see later on) or allowing them to speed up everything to get to the conclusion of that mini-arc an episode sooner.
Oh, and Chloe is one h*** of an important character, which is kind of fun given that she basically already did one of the most important things she does in the whole WN.
But if you think this cast is big, you ain't seen nothing yet. Though I really hope the cool characters that just show up out of nowhere during the later arcs of the WN (as in, apparently were there for a while, but just didn't get mentioned until they became relevant) get set up properly in the LN, Manga and Anime.
Kinda disappointed with the second half but oh well... the season should have ended at the orc lord finale

@@shironasama0445 Even though it was something different... it wasn't good... They skipped so much character development and added a bunch of new characters. Everything felt rushed and made me just not care anymore.
Oh and they tried to fix it with narration which made it even worse.

I feel like hero that sealed Veldora, Girl that gave Shizu this mask, Shizu, Chloe and that spirit, are like one person (or reincarnations of a same person) in complicated time loop.
Anyone else notice that the spirit shaped into the appearance of the hero for a second? Maybe I need to rewatch it cause I didn't see any comments about it, but I could have sworn that's what I saw. Also, Chloe has a remarkable similarity the Shizu who has some similarities in terms of hair color, height, and body type as the hero. And also, the crystal ball saying rimuru would end up being with Shizu could connect to the fact that the spirit was in a wedding dress. I think that it's all some weird time loop thing that involves Chloe going back in time trying to do something, and becoming the hero who seals veldora away, frees herself both before and after obtaining the spirit, at two separate points (creating the two versions of herself that become Shizu and Chloe) and everything that has been done that involves her is to get rimuru to a certain point. The thing that connects them all is the mask. The mask defines who the hero is, then it defined Shizu, and now it will define Chloe and it's something they need to make sure past them has to make sure it can play the role it needs to in the future. (Some parts seem kind of loose, but to anyone who has read ahead please don't tell me if I'm right or wrong, but everyone else, let me know what you think)
The second half is a build up to the next arc that is amazing and has so many things. This second part is full of things that are important to the rest of the series.
when I saw tha time spirit thing with Chloe, I thought that she could be a time traveler in the future, and go back to meet Shizu, as the hero, and give her the mask, completing the circle (with the way Veldora reacted to her)
It's curious to see how the first half of the series compresses three years, while the second half takes 3 months, more or less
That guy at the end. He wasn't even supposed to be aware of Rimuru at all until about half a day later from the point the series ended. Although, with the justification of "his family getting ahead of him," it's an understandable justification for them to insert this bit of foreshadowing.
I had the exact same theory about Chloe after watching this episode, I mean it makes perfect sense. Now that she’s inhabited herself, she can literally teach herself time travel. She got the mask at the end of the episode so she can give it to Shizu and so on. But I also have another theory, what if she’s not just the hero, but is also Great Sage and is the one responsible for reincarnating Rimiru in the first place? A little out there but I like crazy theories 😋
Btw if there ever is a season 2 SHIT GETS REAL, like so much shit happens next, now all we have to do is wait for a season 2 i hope.

Read that spirit differently, if you have ever seen PuPiPo! The idea might be familiar but I think that spirit might actually be Chloes daughter from the future, maybe somehow with Rimiru (don't know how that will work but...). She came to the past to prevent her mother or fathers death and ensure her own birth in the future. If anyone here hasn't seen PuPiPo! I would highly recommend it, it is only 13 episodes or so and if memory serves each episode is only 12 minutes long or so came out around 2012 I think.

The anime is caught up to the English releases of the light novels, books 1 thru 4. Assuming 4 months between novels, it'll if there's a second season, it'll be at least a year and a half out.

The light novel only goes a little bit further after this ending, but it would’ve been a massive cliff hanger. So it’s probably good that they didn’t add that. The next light novel will be released in April 🍾. The web novel is complete, but the light novel adds more to the story.

Rimuru summoned a Demon to be the new protector of the ruins in this episode, hes a cool character that was completely glossed over, The other demon is just mad that he let another demon get ahead of him to be summoned instead.
Looking back on the beginning, with vel explaining it's resurrection. My thoughts after reading the light novel, (though it wasn't clarified there either) I'd say the future spirit was vels reincarnated form. And like ifrit, vel could potentially take over the host body. Remember vel was acting like a tsundere, even rimaru said it.
Next episode at the end; Season 2 in the Fall. Also yeah due to the popularity of it I'm assuming that they will make a season 2.
Another thing is the slime doesn't really give a care about it nor seem to investigate, which to me would be really dangerous as we dont know what would these event unfold as the story continues
Homestly I thought they were gonna end it with the Chardibys stuff and then Rimuru going on in his journey to the city.
So the second season would have been like the beginning of a new journey to carry out Shizu's will.
The next enemy Rimuru will face in season 2 is the group/organisation of people that want to get rid of monsters and remember the person that was hiding behind the tree in the end was one of those people.
I love Slime. Think about all the characters and how much you care about them and how you know them all. Compare that to Boogiepop where you can't keep up with ANYONE and do not care about ANY of them. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime is the "feel-good" anime of the year and it will be sorely missed.
