The animation is on point. The little details like the guy shaking his belt before sitting down are so great.
yeah, human character animation has especially got a lot of attention to detail and feels extremely lifelike, to the point where I think it might be loosely rotoscoped.
That’s right!! I never noticed that before in like any series, but that small detail just gave the character so much more realism. Lol. That scene felt a little slow, but it was still important. seems they’re being very slow and steady wins the race with this series. Which I love.

It never said Unlimited Imprisonment was removed, just that the Great Sage skill would analyze it from the outside and Veldora would help from the inside. That implies that, as the series goes on, it will slowly be fixed.
I think judging by the length of the anime, and reading the web novel. It will only go as far as the first year once the analysis is complete and can release veladora from the seal.

after watching the first ep i immediately read the manga, then went and downloaded and read the translated chapters of the web novel in four days, the story is just so engrossing.

the Web novel is almost fully translated 239/250 chapters.
and the manga is ahead of the official translated Light novel.
the light novel is just a beautifully furnished version of the web novel tho, but the story is the same overall.
Ok one minor correction I need to point out here for chibi. The seal IS NOT removed yet. Rimuru simply swallowed the seal and Veldora together. It's sorta like swallowing an egg whole and having to digest it later kinda thing.

The only thing I noticed that they missed is that when he got the mimic ability, and turned into the snake for the first time, he realized that he could see because the snake has eyes. That's the reason why he uses a humanoid form, because he is used to being able to see/smell/taste
Didn't Veldora give Rimuru vision in the first episode?
He gave him something like " magic vision " which is different from having eyes
he also uses the humanoid form because its what he's used to being and it has arms

Correction: Veldora has NOT been released from the Unlimited Imprisonment seal. He is still inside the seal, which itself(along with Veldora) is inside the inner dimensional space of Rimuru's Predator skill.
As such, Great Sage is currently still in the process of analyzing the outside of the Seal, while Veldora is sending information about the inside of the seal to Great Sage(so that it may in turn analyse it too).
Veldora will only be freed once the Seal will have been fully analyzed and then dispelled.

This is one im keeping my eyes on... It's got a cool concept, good animation, good pacing, overpowered in the best way. Since he is a little slim I love how he interacts with people in the world!
I half suspect this series could be the animators officially breaking new grounds into the magical world of Iseki with game-like mechanics. They tried it once with "Death March," that didn't go so well, (mostly because the animation studio that adapted it sucked and they made a predictably bad adaptation rather than there being any problem with the source material, although that's not to say the source material was the greatest either. Just that they didn't even come close to adapting it properly in any sense.)
NOTE: Death March is kinda like the Naruto of the WN Isekai community. Despite the name, it's actually generally light-hearted overall with a few tense moments, OP characters, and it encompasses the most milk-toast standard-for-the-genre interpretations of almost everything in the game-like fantasy isekai genre with writing that is slightly above average but nothing truly special to make it stand out as "great," thus allowing it to easily appeal to the lowest common denominator. Thus, why it is one of the top rated Isekai WN out there despite there being several that are objectively better written with more interesting concepts than it. It truly is the isekai WN equivalent to every single thing that Naruto and One Piece are for anime and manga, including how well known it is.
At any rate, if they adapt this one well, maybe we will start seeing more of the isekai with game-like mechanics. (The one that I'm especially rooting for is "The Death Mage Who Doesn't Want a 4th Time." The concept for that series is a little convoluted, but the writing for it is almost at Hunter X Hunter levels of good.)
A re-adaptation of Death March is definitely warranted too, it was rather shameful the dumpster fire that the previous attempt at adapting it made of it. For anyone interested, the first 3 episodes do a fairly good job adapting it, but then the staff started cutting corners like mad and it all went down hill very very quickly around the time they stared exploring the dungeon.

I can never see goblins the same way again lol. When that old goblin was crying about the village being attacked by wolves, i was like "So what? That's all you deserve". Kind of remind me of how i felt after a certain berserk chapter. So far, i enjoy it. There is a good set of interesting anime this season.

Reverse for me. Found this LONG before I even heard of GS on top of having played lots of Disgaea and similar games with monsters as the protagonists and good guys so after that I really can't see them as anything other than mook enemies and this case...likeable and actually cute.

BOI this is not bad at all. Just seen the second ep, it is like an isekai but a little bit different. The protagonist is overpowered but it's also a slime and that justifies those abilities, that's really really interesting.

This anime is incredible and beautiful in background so far and very fun episode too.
to be honest the first episode was so good that I actually decided to read the entirety of what has currently been released of the manga so far, and so far it's been adapted brilliantly! I'm not gonna say much, but I know that it's gotta be brilliant for what's been shown to come in the opening.

Agreed, agreed, agreed! As a manga reader, I really love how the anime is adapted. They really took the time with the pacing. Episode 1 has the right amount of speed, not too fast, but not too draggy either. Episode 2 left me hanging tho. Felt like it could be longer, like SAO season 3 40-minutes episode long....

I would say Rimuru is smarter than Ainz.
RO Y I’d say he’s wiser. Ainz is always crazy prepared, and knows the game in and out. Rimuru doesn’t consider the potential of the world, and specifically asks that Great Sage use layman’s terms. While Rimuru uses an AI assist Ainz figures things out on his own. Still between the two Ainz has lost himself to his persona while Rimuru seems as kindhearted as ever when he could be more ruthless.

RO Y That we can agree on. Ainz basically has the easy route when it comes to ruling. When it comes to tactics and strategy Ainz blows Rimuru out of the water. It’s very interesting how alike, but contrasting their stories are though.

Why I'm getting the feeling that this slime is going to be overpowered af? In the 1st episode I though he would get skills or powers for his wishes upon death, but holy cow this combinations and addons of powers...

Do you remember this thing about Demiurge having a farm with "bypedal sheeps" from he gets materials for scrolls and stuff?
Well there are no sheeps, they are human, and no... He doesn't just kill them, he skin them alive (is that how you name it in english?), process the skin meanwhile they suffer (the "material" need to be worked on quick), then he heals then and repeat.
And rape, well human skin is only useful for making low lvl scrolls, but Demiurge got this idea of "what if we make the bypedal sheeps breed with another species, for trying to get better scrolls of course, nothing else".
And yeah, I know many read the manga too, but still I don't get wtf is all that hate towards Goblin Slayer, it's an anime, or a manga, not a real situation ffs, it's like being mad at some typical anime/manga because the underage sister of the protagonist wants to fck him. I though by 2018 we would be over with this "politically correct" bs.

I think it's because in GS (goblin slayer) its shown instead of sugar coating it like Overlord. You get what Demuige is saying, but its not shown therefore its left to the readers to imagine the scenario. Less impact.
the annoying thing is people know that GS is going to be dark and yet they are expecting a light fantasy... overlord was kinda brutal back in S1 but it got tamer on the latter seasons which kinda made a lot of the good scenes on S2 and S3 look bland and/or boring to some

Yes, you're right. The monsters inside the cave are all monsters that are considered high-rank, and they, like Rimuru, were born from the magicules that have been leaking from Veldora for 300 years.
The overabundance of magicules in the cave is also the reason why the mosnters and the adventurers in the cave didn't notice the aura of Rimuru, since the aura was of the same properties as the overabundant magicules from Veldora that are permeating the cave.
Then THAT is the reason the female magic caster only noticed Rimiru´s aura when he was walking OUT of the cave...

there are only 2 things I want to point out, one was omited, and the other is something that can be a contradiction in the future, but I dont think that was an error on the studio, it may be on the translation itself, ill try to say it as unpoilery as possible, not gonna mention events, but something might slip, but the second can become a big contradiction later on, more on concept itself than for story propouses
the first one, the real reason Veldora lost, he found the hero on his strike zone and lost too much time "looking" at her, to the point being serious didnt really help anymore, he even go into phisical details while telling Rimuru
the second one, it has to do more on what Dragons are on a basic level, when Veldora said he would die in another 100 years, thats impossible, Dragons in this world, true Dragons like Veldora, are basically massive concentrations of pure power, and actually not releasing theyre powers every so ofter can be problematic for them, not than it causes them damage or anything, but if I remember it causes them stiff shoulders, I think he does mention he would die in the novel, but then adds of boredom, than his mind would go coco or something along those lines
I think it's less of a contradiction and more omission of details. I might be remembering wrong but existences like True Dragons are more like mantles of power than individuals. Basically, they can die but they eventually reform from their elements and the new dragon while still named Veldora might not be the same individual conversing with Rimuru.
Ive read the novel, and its stated that 1 True dragons can die, yes, and if they die that doent mean another Veldora will be born, remember names a a tricky thing in this world, and its that Dragons themselves are extreamly hard to kill, the reason why the hero decided to stop trying and simply sealed him, but the contradiction im pointing out is that Veldora said he would die in 100 years for loosing to much magicules, but because of what True Dargons are thats litterally impossible, he does mention something like that but more saying mentally, after all, remember he does mention he must release cetain amount of power periodically or it start to stress him out and can make him have stiff shoulders, and plese dont make me go into more details, ive already have a hard time not spoiling with only this and its really edging in of spoiler territory

Nah for the second one in that they CAN "die", but they just reincarnate again. He mentions it in some of his observation diaries in the manga that he's died in the past just for the hell of it. It's why everyone freaked out so much about his disappearance along with the deterrent to the Eastern Empire since they don't know where or when he'll just pop up to blast things again.

The MC's personality, him being a slime, his OP abilities, funny scenes, MMO aspects. Its all perfect, this episode got me so invested I was so SO FUCKING DISAPPOINTED TO SEE IT END. WAY TOO SHORT. It takes a lot for me to feel an episode go so fast, this series just does it right.
Also i was also curious about the morphing into human girl/boy. Im just like "wait did he eat someone lmao?" Im so intrigued in how these events happen.

But his Sage and Predator abilities are pretty much cheats…
To be fair, it´s only "cheat" since those two abilities have a absurdly good synergy.
. "Sage alone" (either normal or "greater") is just a tutorial giving him some "lore" and "common sense" [for that world´s rules and its "magical mechanics"].
. "Predator alone" is just an EPIC VERSION (more "agressive" and flexible) form of the "passive" basic ability of all slimes of disolving things they touch.
-> Only when combined it allows him to "reprocess" magic, chemicals and data into usefull "new skills" that he could NOT develop by himself through trial and error [like how he eventually got "limited waterbending" by creatively testing unsual ways for his body to interact with water].

Reasons why Rimuru is OP:
- Predator + Great Sage skill
This means he has access to literally every skill in existence provided he obtains them via eating/experiencing it or fulfilling prerequisites for it
- The title/name of Tempest
In this world when you are named by a stronger being than you, you gain powers proportional to the power of the person who named you. In this case one of the 4 strongest Dragons race in existence making him at the level of a Demon Lord from the start, which explains his aura
So... if he just stopped at the point were he gained "magical blindsight" limited vision (spending some weeks/months chatting with the Tsundere Dragon), and then parted ways trying to fullfill his original "Starter Quest" [ FIND other japanese humans who traveled to this new world ]; he may have NOT survived the encounter with the poison breath giant snake (or more likely, killing it would have taken a lot of time by abusing of his regeneration and lack of need for rest).

well after the orc disaster he will have the energy close to a self proclaimed demon lord (different from a true one) but he won't have the ability to actully use it to it's fully until he trains under you know who :)))))

Correction about Veldora, if I remember correctly the imprisonment wasn't removed. Rimuru swallowed the prison along with the prisoner, Rimuru's ability is slowly figuring out how to get rid of the imprisonment in the background. That is why he is now Rimuru Tempest.
well the goblins is going to be much more relevant than the lizards in Overlord season 2 that's for sure
there's lizard men in this series as well it also takes a overlord blood filled combat tone so its gonna be great
That shapeshifting ability into a human will be explored at length during the story, we can't tell you any details without spoiling it. In the first chapter of the manga, the reader sees a similar person in their vision so the opening takes the role of that part, it's neat. The animation studio goes above and beyond what is depicted in the manga (I didn't read the light novel so I can't comment on that) and added nice little details which must have taken considerable time and effort when you add it all up.
Could someone explain to me what the difference is between manga, web novel, and light novel?
Not that I read the web and light novel but i'm guessing just one being manga (pretty self explanatory isn't it?) And the other 2 having minor differences like maybe the light novel has better and more refined writing or something?
The Light/Web novel is a bit more detailed about certain things. That the manga slightly glosses over. Also the light novel/web novel is more fast pace. The light novel in comparison to the webnovel is more refined. Besides that there isn't much of a difference.
having read all I can say well with the current episode that the anime is streamlined and surprisingly detailed, the adaptation is good and so far nothing really is missed when it comes to information, imo the anime is better at giving info more than the other two.
Web novel = rough draft, Light Novel = Final draft, Manga = visual representation of final draft with minor editing.
Light novel is book, manga is comic, anime is tv show
Nice video Chibi, good catch in all the details mainly in the humanoid form of the slime. As a manga/novel reader I'm not gonna spoil the why of that but I hope you end up liking the reason why and how he is able to transform when we reach that episode!

The reason the MC is so powerful is because he was "Named" by one of the 4 True Dragons. In this universe, which you will see with Ep3 of slime, Named monsters recieve strength depending on how strong the one who named is. Plus, he ate the dragon as well. Pretty good powerup.

One of the reasons he's so strong is because Veldora gave him a name, giving names to monsters in this world gives them a huge power boost depending on who gives it, Veldora being one of the strongest beings in the new world gave Rimuru a huge increase in power.

1.The person he becomes is a pretty big spoiler but let's just say that said person he assimilates is gonna be his driving force for a pretty good reason. It's gonna be one of those feels moment.
2.The "Unlimited prison" is still in effect, what Rimu did is pretty much puting Veldo inside his "inventory" to analyze the spell and find a way to break it using his LVL30 Wizzurd power.
3.Don't worry, the goblins will be a part of something Bigger because... well let's just say that in this new world "Names have power" and our powerful slime boy is about to name a lot of people.
P.s:If you want to see these episodes with a "bit" more explanation I''d encourage everyone to read the Manga on your "Legal" manga sharing website. It's already far when it comes to story tho so be careful about that.
Veldora's imprisonment was not released. It is being analyzed by Rimuru inside of his "stomach." Later on however it will be fully analyzed and Veldora will be released. Also if this anime has multiple seasons eventually a character like Demiurge!
Slime is like the Nippon Ichi Disgaea game of Isekai in that you're seeing the world through the eyes of beings that often the enemy and see them as...Practically human by any other name really. It's why I immediately fell in love with the series.
After watching your first impression video I was like no way this will replace overlord and after watching the new episode I was amazed by how enjoyable it's and how much potential the character have to get stronger or will he going to be riding his friend the Dragon after he get out and how epic a slime riding a Dragon is

What missed in this season was the third different Anime with Goblins. The manga is called ReMonster. The usual Isekai, but he is reborn as a Goblin, and the Goblins are pretty much similar to the ones in Goblin Slayer, but they drastically change with the appearance of a Human from the future reincarnated in a body of a Goblin and all his knowledge, and almost turning to what they are in the Slime Anime. It's a pretty cool Manga to read.
It's only been out for two weeks(2 episodes) and I'm already hoping for a season 2, hopefully that time I got reincarnated as a slime and overlord don't clash on each other and hopefully this anime will have like 25 episode so we can enjoy it

You know its a good anime when they put so much detail into somebody sitting down.
What i missed from the manga was the dialogue of the dragon talking how cute was his jailer XD “she was a cute slim warrior” ;)
this is my all-time favorite series. i love both the manga, webnovel and lightnovel, and i have to say i'm very pleased with the anime so far. aside from the above average animation and voice acting, you can just feel the passion put into making the anime. it's very clear the people working on this also enjoy the series or else i don't think it would be half as good as it is.
One point, the confinement is still active. Veldora is just as sealed as he was in the cave, Rimuru just took the place of the cave. If he let Veldora out, he'd just be sealed wherever he was let out.

Veldora somehow manages to be cute with his tsun-ness while Rimuru tries to act important when he's with the goblins. I love it.

He moved Veldora together with his prison out of the cave into his storage. The prison is currently being analyzed by the great sage ability, Veldora won't be free before it is completley analyzed.

Chibi don't worry, yep the MC is strong in contrast to the nornal enemy is really op. But I can assure you that there are Dozens of enemy that can oneshot our dear slime. So is very strong, but not absolutely in the top 10 of strongest characters.
