    You might be surprised, but some people actually LIKE slow pacing beginnings. Xenoblade X is beautiful just the way it is.

      i think you both are right ...
      from the perspective of a veteran the opening is slow ...
      but im sure when i played the game the first time , i really loved spending hours to familiarize myself with NLA and all the people there.

      Exactly,. I'm not one to rush through a game either. I tend to do the main questline after I've explored the area. As for XC2, I can't remember where I was after 90 mins, but it's certainly not after chapter 1.

      literally me, im tired of seeing people complain. It gives me time to settle in, get comfortable and ease into the world and feel I'm there which im pretty sure is what open worlds are meant to do. While we some people complaining because they cant focus for more then 5 minutes

    Yeah I remember being super lost in my first playthrough of this game. Got XCX day one December 2015 while still on the tail end of my first playthrough of XC1 on the 3DS. I only had one hour play sessions through that month and in early 2016 because of not knowing how to really progress after those long tutorial cutscenes, and the most I did during those days was stumble on to Noctilum doing a basic mission and then getting underwhelmed with the meager rewards. It wasn't until after I was done with my spring classes in 2016, and finally figuring out how to progress around Chapter 3 is where I got so hooked and had 5 to 15 hour daily play sessions of XCX until I beat the main story. XCX is a slow starting and confusing game that I'd advise taking things one at a time. Patience will be very rewarded, but hopefully Monolith Soft does all they can to mitigate the introductory slog to so newcomers get to really play the game.

    XCX is a world building based game where the gamepley is primary. Anyone that tries to speed through the main story, like XC3 is not playing the game properly.
    The side quest in XCX are the best in the series.

    @mistressminerva3382 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    You have a valid point there.
    I replay XCX every year at least once , often more than 60h because i redo 100% survey every time. Thats just how much i love this game.
    But as a Veteran , i admit i have a progression system i follow ...
    1. rush till start of chapter 3
    2. survey most of Primordia before taking on chapter 3 Boss
    after the chapter 3 Mission is completed all other continents are free to explore in any which way and order.
    but those 2 things i try to get done as fast as possible
    As a Veteran the metrics on how long to beat look a bit off to me ...
    i dont remember how long i took the first time ... but now if i put my mind to it , i can speedrun the main story in about 10 hours and 100% survey in about 60 hours. Im not even sure what completionist means ... all achievements ? surely not ... that would probably take 1k+ hours because the achievements are terrible in the original.
    That said , in my first playthrough i loved spending hours on end to explore and familiarize myself with NLA and talk to everyone.
    So imo the biggest issue comes from not knowing where to go ... but that is fixed with the new Quest Markers i think.
    Hmm ... but you still only get the Followball after chapter 3. Maybe they should give it earlier.

    Good video! X is my favorite Xenoblade game, but honestly I think it would be a much more compelling story if the first third of the game was a journey just to GET to New LA, then the rest of the game could progress from there as is (but with most of the talking tutorials being optional). That way the city would be anticipated and a sight for soar eyes, and then you'd realize the first 30 hours of the game was just the prologue.

    One thing they should fix is those missions that tells you to look for a specific thing in one of the five areas. The problem is the areas are still too huge to even think where to start looking. Wished they narrowed it down a little more.

    I still consider this to be less bad than many other JRPGs (including other Xenoblade games outside of XC1) since it's very much possible to push through the worst parts in one sitting; I'd say it takes approximately four hours to get to the end of chapter 3. There's no "it gets good 20+ hours later" which is often said about XC2 in particular. Then again, I'm also more used to slow starts and always preferred X's hands-off approach with tutorials; overcorrecting like they did with XC3 was one of my greatest fears for DE. And thanks to the new quick recast mechanic, early game combat will likely be faster.

    This is my favorite game since its released yet i replayed it from scratch 12 days ago and i still think its fine.
    Ppl keep saying skell are way too late in the game when im just over here thinking the fact its this late and that the traveling is this difficult makes getting a skell so much more relieving but at least you get why skells are awesome.
    Sidenote i dont like Death Plateau

    Not sure if it all that slow, I got sorta pulled in by the little things in the story like how the earth was destroyed and humanity fighting for it's survival on an alian planet that was a blast to explore but sure it also sorta up to you to explore that world. I also sorta just tried to do a bunch of sidequests before going into each new chapter.
    But yeah feels like a lot of people have very different experiences of this game depending on how you try to approach it.
    Also sorta had a lot of fun trying to expand frontier nav by foot. But think comparing Xenoblade Chronicles X to the mailine games is like comparing breath of the Wild to a traditional Zelda game.
    They are 2 different things.

    The tutorials aren't the worst in the franchise by far. They're worse in XC2 because you don't even have the opportunity to really play around with many of the things they 'teach' you at the the time. And before a few updates came, it wasn't even possible to reread them. Even now when you can reread them it's still not ideal. But XC3... now that game has the worst tutorials in the franchise by far, bar none and then some. The game gives you some basic tutorials and expects you to look the rest. And the rest is hidden through a horrible browsing experience, very poorly sorted with no easy way to find what you're looking for because you'll still have to manually browse through like hundreds even if you filter them. It literally takes minutes to find what you're looking for. And the game just keeps dumping more and more and more tutorials as you progress through the game on you. It's not just the worst in the franchise, it's among the worst of any modern game out there.
    XCX's tutorials aren't anywhere near as bad. You can actually look them up pretty easily. That's not the case for the other games.

    • @pedrobeckup456
      @pedrobeckup456 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What? I thought the tutorials in 3 were the best, it forces you to do the thing so you will understand at the first try. Also you can go to any tutorial again and do it at the practice, not only read what to do
      That or having 400 hour in the franchise before playing 3 helped me a lot so I don't know for a newcomer

    Lol 5 years ago I wouldn’t have been ready for this game. My taste level and sophistication has grown leaps and bounds since completing the Xeno trilogy, I feel confident I could handle the “boring” intro of the game 😂

    • @pedrobeckup456
      @pedrobeckup456 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I didn't even like Jrpgs, but Xenoblade 1 introduction was the most contrary to boring so I thought it was worth losing so many hours of my life just to see how it ends
      Though I had to learn a combat system which I beat the game and didn't understand at all 😅 but 500 hours in the franchise now and I kinda lite it a lot for both story, combat and even side quests.
      Lets go to Mira, we are ready!

    • @TrvisXXIII
      @TrvisXXIII 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ those shortcomings are exactly what I’m talking about. Old me would’ve quit if I didn’t understand the combat, especially with the second game. Now I’m a lot more patient and a bit of a completionist when it comes to min / maxing.
      So whether XCX is slow or not in the beginning I’m gonna look for loot, items or anything that could help me break the game early 😂

    I hate when people describe X as “not story driven” because it’s a lie. The story in X is absolutely excellent but the issue is it’s half of a game. It’d be like if Xenoblade 1 ended after your first trip to prison island. It’d be a good story yes but it wouldn’t have the satisfy payoff that that game has. However X has so much rich lore and world building that it makes up for that ending in a lot of ways. Now that they’re adding in the rest of the story we were originally going to get, calling it not story driven will be even more of a lie and I might be reaching here but I think this additional content is going to be future redeemed levels of content. They’ve upped the level cap from 60 to at least 90 (probably 99) and a huge jump like that wouldn’t be added unless the content added was significant enough to justify those additional 39 levels.

  • @melephs_cap

    The intro to NLA is pretty expository, yeah. It focuses on a lot of inconsequential stuff. Like...did they need to explain the Scout Console in a main story cutscene? And go through all the Divisions in depth when you can change yours at any time? Really? Just put deeper info in side missions and peripheral systems info in situational tutorial pop-ups! It's one of my favorite games for sure but the onboarding can be preeeetty rough.

    I actually don’t really understand why so many people had so much to complain about this game. I give up really quick on games if I don’t like something but actually never had this feeling in X I really enjoyed everything. Sure the game is not flawless but all in all I think this game is a masterpiece.
    The only things that I found really annoying was the small text, those stupid missions where you need to collect and that the faces looked so emotionless. But it didn’t make me quit the game

    big issue with the "the intro is too long people are gonna drop the game before it starts" arguement, which is that people have paid 60 $/euros for the game and no sane person is gonna abandon the game just because of that. most people don't have enough money to waste 60 $/euros willy/nilly, if they were to buy the game, they would give it a day AT LEAST.

    I understand why you made the comparison with BOTW, but I still think it's a bit unfair. BOTW is a game that bases much of its philosophy on experimentation. Overloading the player with explanations or tutorials would have made no sense, as the point of the game is completely different, despite the fact that it's an open world ( let's not forget that open world is not a genre, but a level design concept).
    In XCX, there is so much detail you need to know before you can begin your adventure, that it was unavoidable to have such a long introduction. And despite this, not everything is explained, which just goes to show how much there is to know in the game.

    Once you unlock overdrive just switch to Elma and breeze through the game.
    My wish list for DE is better quest marker or tagging for monster drops to craft upgrades, i'm not browsing through the entire pokedex to manually find who drops what.
    and less farming for the above.
    And reduced fuel usage when AI party members use skills.

      No, after opening cutscene, you are free to explore but not yet that free if you know what I mean.
      The real problem actually rely on the quest. example find item a to find it you must kill few monster, but there is rng system on it, that's make every player different on how long to got the item. example your friend need to kill 3 monsters to get the item compare to you that need to kill 20 monsters, something like that. (well this is maybe alre got new balancing)
      and among the other
