At first, on the way to NLA there's an invisible wall preventing you from straying from the path, so I thought "of course it is not that open, that would be crazy" as I was used to invisible walls (in 2015 or thereabouts). "At least this city is big, so it will probably be the main area where the game takes place" I thought. Only for the game to open up impressively afterwards to expand even further with a skell-license. It boggles the mind how this was all possible on that weak console.
Always happy to see some good X glazing. Lots of passion, work, writing, editing, footage gathering, building, and tweaks clearly went into this. Love your artworks as well. Your Cross is one of the ones I remember from back in the day. X really is something special.
i just started the video so I'm not sure if you'll mention it, but it's important to recognize that without Mira being an open world, we probably wouldn't have the gaming industry as we know it today. monolith soft working on an open world game for the WiiU was what got part of their team contracted to make Breath of the Wild, which reinvented open worlds and introduced an open world craze to the industry after its release
X was actually my introduction to the franchise, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m so excited that it is getting this remaster, announced right when I was considering dusting off my Wii U.
Wonderful video, it's a testament to X's world design that you can write an in-depth essay about it without even talking much about its main hub area. Speaking of comparisons to BotW, one thing I liked about X was how when you're in Primordia, you can see BLADE tower from a great distance. And once you find out what that number represents... it serves as a reminder of your top priority and pushes you to explore even further - similar to how Hyrule Castle is visible from most places in Hyrule and is a constant reminder of your final goal. In terms of being an exploration-focused game, X knows what it wants to be and does that extremely well. I don't think any other video game world has called to me as much as Mira, and how it realizes its sense of scale and grandeur in a way that few game worlds have. I really enjoyed how you highlighted all the details that X has to make its world such a joy to explore. I'm so glad to see this game getting its flowers after all these years, and I hope it can be appreciated by a whole new generation with XDE. I can't wait to revisit Mira in a couple months!
Thank you so much!! Omg TRUE you are absolutely right about the parallel between the NLA tower and Hyrule castle, that's a great observation! X's world is one of these few kinds of gaming worlds where I feel the need to boot up the game just tp exist in it, it's magical- And hehehe yesssss Justice for NLA theme 😂
I am so happy about some people here saying that Xenoblade X is their favourite game of all time - it is mine as well! It is such a special game to me and I just cannot wait for the Definitive Edition, I need it injected into my veeeeins! Great video, thank you! :3
P. S.: I hope NLA Night is not actually hated as much as you think. It's my favorite song in the game. It definitely is in my "moan-in-the-shower-rotation"
I picked up Xenoblade Chronicles X since I hadn't been able to play the first one, but had heard so many good things; and also because of the big robots. While my memories of this game effectively all blend together in a fever dream of driving across the planet in my first mech and my party frantically teleporting to me every few seconds, I do remember that I enjoyed the whole thing a lot (Except maybe the lobster collection or whatever it was). The 15 or so hours that you play without having access to mechs really went by quickly, even though it was a core reason why I got the game and the payoff was of course incredibly worth it. When I picked up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I was severely disappointed by the game, as I didn't know that X was a departure from the formula.
Yes the slow buildup towards the Skell is so amazing! It's interesting that you had a reverse disappointment moment with XC2 after X that most people had with XCX after XC1
I am only 4 and a half minutes in and I already liked the video and subscribed to you. Xenoblade X is among my top 3 favorite games of all time and Mira is my favorite world in any videogame I have played, and it's not even close. ... Now back to the video.
Done with the video now. I thought I was the biggest Xenoblade X stan in the world. Today I realized I am just the second biggest Xenoblade X stan in the world. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end.
Xenoblade X is my favorite in the series, and it is not close. It has its issues, but Xenoblade X leans the most heavily into the things the series does best. Scale, exploration, customization and wonder.
I never really liked open world games that much, before playing X for the first time on the WiiU. There was just something that they managed to really add to the experience, from the way traversal was engaging, to the way enemies behaved in their day and night cycles, to the varied environments you could explore and find goodies in. And man, that moment you finally get a Skell was magical. Even more so when you finally unlocked the flight module. Needless to say, I am very excited to jump back into Mira after all these years.
one of my favorite experiences in the game is naming my character Hope, then meeting Hope, the party member, and then finding the tyrant "killer of hope"
This is still the greatest open world game ever created. And one of the ONLY ones where completing quests actually adds to the world. (An entire facility is built in Primordia just from doing a sidequests)
Xenoblade chronicles x is my favourite game of all time, and mira as a planet is such a big part of that. From running across the arch Bridge on my way to nla for the first time to following the long winding path round the back of oblivia to the top of the waterfalls, mira is truly beautiful. Flying for the first time made me cry, seeing lin so determined to get the skell in the air, the music kick in and finally finishing the map of primordia... its just incredible. I know you also only brought up the side quest at the end of the video but they do so much for the world its criminal not to mention them more. All the different aliens moving to nla, the construction of the water plant, army pizza, all the xenophobia from fellow blades, tree clan are there relationship with the ganglean, the inner workings of how nla function. Need I say more. Xenoblade chronicles x is a near flawless master piece and words truly are unable to describe just how much this game means to me and im so glad it is finally getting the shot it deserves to prove it with definitive edition. Also as the only ( or atlest I thought I was the only ) enjoyer of nla's music, its nice to hear someone else see that it's actually good are a very good way to set the vibe of the place.
I didn't think anyone needed to sell me on my favorite game but you absolutely did. I replayed it for the first time in 8 years right after the remaster was announced and loved every second again. Thank you for making this and sharing the same passion I do for this masterpiece!!!
@ ngl I’ve noticed your views have jumped nearly 1k since I posted it on the Xenoblade subreddit 😝 I’m really happy it’s doing so well for your first video essay!
Great video! I played this back on the Wii U, and your video made me really excited to explore Mira again! Can't wait for the Definitive Ediion release!
I absolutely adore this game! This is one of the games of my childhood! Even without the switch release that is coming soon, I still need to pick it up again and 100% it!
Wonderful video essay! XCX is my favorite video game of all time, and two reasons for that is its incredible open world and emphasis on exploration. I can't wait to revisit it with the Definitive Edition.
Im so hype i been waiting for years to play X since it first was announced on wiiu but never got a wiiu and the game so now i pre ordered X cant wait to be stuck on an alien planet
I think that you really nailed it on the head as to why Xeonblade X really did resonate and stick with a lot of people who played it. So much about the game was definitely elevated by the community that firmed around it on sites like Tumblr. I remember browsing Tumblr during school and seeing all the amazing artwork that you and all the other amazingly talented artists would make, seeing new people pop up with their own Cross with their own stories to tell. Those were some of my earliest online interactions with a lot of different people, and it definitely helped me change for the best as a person. Those memories of chilling in a Discord call with a bunch of people either just hanging out or fighting Yggralith Zero are so important to me, and i wouldn't give them up for the world.
absolutely, the community was small-ish but rather tight-knit, and I think that plus the overall presentation of the game really managed to sell this overall feeling of many people coming together in BLADE and making their own adventures. I can't wait to experience this allover again! Thank you so much!
I've tried to explain to my friends why I love this game so much, and even shared links to some videos to show off the world, but from here on out I'm just going to send them the link to this video. You really nailed why I believe XCX is so magical. Thank you!
this video was honestly so nice to watch after all these years after i played this game, i really loved x too and looking forward to play the switch version. your video was just awesome keep going🫶 btw the music from new la is goated imo 😅😂
I feel like times have been hard, but Nintendo is gonna be here to console me with amazing releases like this. I remember being soooooo excited about this game in 2013, and the excruciating wait until 2015... And now it's been almost 10 years since then. And the timing couldn't be better.
Yes!! Excellent video! I never dared hope they would figure out how to get this game onto the Switch, but our dreams our coming true. I cannot wait to buy it and finally spend all my time in Mira again! I hope it has co-op so I can see you all out there!
Woah, I'm so glad youtube recommended this to me! I love X so much it's so nice to see others who appreciate it's beauty as well, and your essay was great, even as a reminder of the world's beauty to someone who's already put hundreds of hours in. I hope some new people see this and get drawn in. So so so excited to return to Mira on the switch in just over 2 months.
Thank you so so much!! I'm glad my endless rambling about how much I love this game is resonating with people and I also rly hope many new people will give it a try-
Phenomenal video. I listened to the entire thing while at work. Part of me was dreading the release of X Definitive as I've already sunk 400 hours into the original game to 100% everything, but this video has got me hyped to play this game all over again. Well done.
You put into words so many of my thoughts on this game. Exploring Mira is such a magical experience, and the sheer amount of effort put into this games world building is second to none. Really looking forward to it getting a second chance to shine.
I can't wait to go back on Mira with all of you. I played the original X in 2020 and therefore never got to experience it with a big and active playerbase. With the DE I can finally fix that
This video was so good! I played XCX years ago but never finished it. I’m so excited for the Switch version! Thanks for showing off how expansive and awesome Mira is.
To this day, Sylvalum is still one of my favourite game locations. The continent is essentially asleep during daytime, but wakes up at night. The change in music and bioluminescence of the spheres reflects that perfectly.
awesome video, and massive kudos for writing a script for two years and then making such a massive movie about a game about my childhood, i know you didnt make it for me but it touches so many aspects that i as a kid found just awesome that it feels like something i was thinking about forever.
An amazing video and I LOVE that you included the detailed collectopedia thing. I had my cross join the curators because i was interested in the monsters and environment of Mira. You earned a sub from me.
This video is incredible! I got this game back at launch but was upset it wasn't Xenoblade 2 so I never ended up finishing it. Can't wait to play it on its own terms.
Wonderful video! It is a much needed video essay for all those Xenoblade fans who didnt get the oportunity to try it. It is my favorite game in the series because of the mechanics you mentioned and the more mature tone. And now hoopefully they will finish the story. Also the editing and the music choice is superb, I couldnt believe it when I saw that this is your third video in the channel and your first video essay. It must have took you long time to make it but the quality is top notch. I am looking forwards for your future video essays!
Thank you so so much, that means a lot to hear! I'm a notorious perfectionist haha, so it indeed took me a long time to get this video to this point with editing, but my love for this game fueled me!
The shots you got in this video, continues to show how beautiful this game is. Im so ready for the definitive edition, as my wii u broke down years ago. Amazing video and im loving the love X is getting. Also i never understood the story concerns from people. Yes its nowhere near the levels of other xenoblade games in how its paced, but when the story picks up in this game. Its picks up heavy, and is one of the most interesting ones in the series to me, as it always keeps you guessing and asking questions even after you get answers to stuff
That introduction scene of Primordia is still in my top 5 favorite scenes on all of gaming. The visuals and music are just PERFECTION. Can't wait to relive this game again in a couple of months! 🥰
Of all games, X is still one of the most meaningful experiences I've had with an open world. To the point Mira still feels like a home in its own right, knowing all those little secret paths and cool caves, taking in the view and wonder of seeing tall heights. It's the same kinda feeling as BOTW (obviously) and Elden Ring for me. A sheer sense of wonder and exploration that hasn't been topped. When Definitive Edition for X was announced, on that random Tuesday morning, I felt the strongest surge of emotion I have had for a game in a long while. We get to go back to Mira, we get to fly in those skies once more, together. I hope the new people coming in enjoy it, but it means something incredible for us who've taken on Mira. Incredible video you've made that puts to words what I've felt about XCX for a long while.
thank you so so much! I felt exactly the same when DE was announced, this game means so much to me and I don't recall when was the last time I looked forward to something THIS much
Wonderful analysis and storytelling! X is a gem that a lot more people will get to experience very soon, and you're pointing out things I loved back then that'll only be made better now.
Amazing video! There's definitely a lot of stuff you analyzed that I started taking for granted as to why X is so special to me after being familiar with the game for so long, so you really did a great job at disecting what made the world so special. Xenoblade X was my first Xeno game, and is one of my favorite game of all time, and a huge reason for that is that it's one of the most amazing worlds ever put into a game. So I'm really happy to see this video :3 It's easy to say that it's an amazing world that you love to be in, but it's hard to pinpoint all the things which makes it so special compared to other worlds. Sure other worlds can be Sci-Fi too and have strange looking creaures, but you did a really great job at laying out all the nuances that makes someone feel more immersed by X's world, like how getting the skell and flight upgrade much later in the game made it completely flip the head on how you explored the world every time, the enemies that camoflauged themselves, the iconic landmarks that you could see all the way across continents, all of these things drew me in when I first played X and it still does, but I didn't really think about it because you just become so immersed into the world that you wont really think of it as a game having good game design. One special thing with X and Breath of the Wild that i dont do for any other game is that I just sometimes love to run around and look at the world, and do nothing else. I can't tell how many hour's i've just flewn around with my skell across all the continents looking at every nook and crazy in the world because it's so amazing. Same thing with Breath of the Wild, I love just riding around on the horse, the only difference is that I don't think about the world as deeply as I do with X. When I look at X's world I always think about the history of all the places you see on Mira, and I don't really do that with many areas of the other Xeno games besides some cool ruins. But in X the entire world is a giant ruin of alien civilisations and fauna. So unlike other games, where your told that there is a history to a place in the world your in but it doesn't really feel like the place has existed for that long, making it just feels like some bread text, in X you both see all these ruins and get nook and crannies of hints towards the past history of these places at ever corner of the game, collectopedia, npc dialog, environments, enemy descriptions, and so on. You really start to think of the world as a world that has existed for much longer than just when you arrived. But yeah, outstanding video
Thank you so so much!!! I am so glad I could put into words a few of the things you feel about this game! ❤ I absolutely agree, the world design of X is just so naturally good that you don't really actively notice HOW GOOD exactly, just because it all just feels RIGHT. It's definitely also one of the few games where I like to play just for the sake of existing in it, and botw too, so I absolutely get you!! Thank you ❤
@@aeviannpick things you're passionate about! cause that was the magic in this video for me. take time to set up the ground work for how you'll story-tell your experiences. I think you'll best fill in the rest. don't work yourself to death, but I think you should consider making more and see where the business leads! You've got my sub! As your current shareholder! I demand more video essays! :P but seriously consider it. take your time! just make it a banger like this one
God I can't wait to play this game again in March. It's already such a fantastic experience once you get to grips with it and experiencing all the new stuff on top of that is hopefully going to be such a treat
So far only 4 minutes in and you've already said everything that has bugged me with the X discourse in the past decade, thank you so much lmao Not the most loved game in the series - but definitly the most important Xenoblade game for its genre, Mira is absolutely to this day still the benchmark of what a GOOD open world should be. Anyways played X on Wii U for like 1000 hours total, gonna do the same on switch for sure, everyone who mildly enjoys freedom/exploration in games really should try it out at least.
@@aeviann Thank you! ^^ Finished the rest of the video by now ofc - super well written overall, love all the comparisons and the deeper dive into the interplay between mechanics, lore and overall experience - amazing video
What an absolute gorgeous love Letter Aeviann. This game has so many gorgeous elements to it, and you've highlighted them beautifully. Thank you❤️ Additionally, I'll fight you over the NLA music over some Manon Pizza! 😌❤️
To me the craziest thing about X is just how much more of the world opens up with some clever Skell Platforming. Sure you are meant to use the flight module to head up the falls in Noctilum or enter the sphere in Sylvalum, but both can be accessed early if you are good enough at jumping. That root hanging down the falls is just barely in reach from a jump atop a nearby cliff, and while difficult you can climb it to reach the top early. The same principle applies to the sphere. Given just what there is to do in those places in particular I think it's really cool to add early access for dedicated players. The peak of the mountain in the center of north Oblivia is another one that is really neat to have as an option given what it unlocks. Add in oversights (The island with the probe in south Cauldros can be climbed thru some janky movement. A pair of Arts can be used to slowly gain height and there is a tanky enough Tyrant that you can reach the floating reef in Oblivia with enough dedication) and glitches (You can get out of bounds to get on top of the overhang outside NLA. There is some jank with entering and exiting combat to let your Skell jump again in midair, with less height each jump) and that number grows higher but I expect those to be patched in DE. While some of those would be really cool to see kept, I am not getting my hopes up for them. Iirc, the only places that no one has figured out how to do without flight are the Final Chapter area and the top of Blade Tower.
I remember the first time I tried jumping while sprinting in Xenoblade X. it happened when the music in Primordia swelled and I immediately knew Xenoblade X was something special. When Xenoblade 2 was new I had a very hard time impressing on people how bad the mobility felt coming off of X
What an excellent video, and from such a small channel! I’m surprised that when you initially brought up BotW, you didn’t mention right away that the same Monolith Soft that made the Xenoblade series was also involved in BotW and TotK. I haven’t watched the whole vid just yet, so maybe you bring it up later, but it would’ve been cool to mention it early on so that people not aware of it would know going into the rest of the vid. The similarities in map design and philosophy is quite understandable when you consider they were apparently done by the same team lol
So I guess you did eventually mention that Monolith did some stuff for the Zelda games, oops! Oh well, take it as some free comment engagement, hopefully this video starts making the rounds before Definitive releases, so more people can know why this game is so special! 😊
@@TheMystenigma hehehe yeah, but I agree it might have been even more effective to mention it earlier, as I think it really is a strong point to make in favor of X Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot!
Hey, you’re the one who made such an excellent video, I’m just doing my dues lol, I’ve seen so many retrospectives and such on XBX and basically none of them managed to capture or convey the magic of the games world design, let alone do it as well as you did. :)
X is my favorite game simply because of the steps it takes with its world building. The only other franchise that comes close in replicating this level of detail is monster hunter. And now that we know Monster Hunter Wilds and Xenoblade Chronicles X: DE are releasing within a month of eachother..... man is it a good time to be living.
One thing I noticed is that you didn’t really mention all the caves. Many of them aren’t like, crazy special or anything, but some of them really do add to the world as well, like the massive grex den in Primordia that the grexes retreat into at night to sleep, except for some lookouts to guard the den. It’s such a small touch that most devs either wouldn’t think to include, or wouldn’t bother with even if they did, but it’s all these touches that make a fantasy world feel complete.
Ohhhhh yeah, that's true! I honestly forgot a little about some of the caves plus I wanted to leave some discoveries unspoiled, but yeah there's just so much more that could be said about all these other locations in the game!
Probably I would give it, and give me the opportunity to play this game again. Now I more mature, and I can give up on not having huge story. But a exploration game. The video was truly helpful.
Really awesome video. I think that any Xenoblade fan can love this game, if they just take it as its own thing. Sure it has references and shares a lot of themes/concepts with the Xenoblade games, but it is ultimately its own thing. If people go into this game with that mindset, I think they can love it. This was actually the first Xenoblade game I truly played. I never got XC1 for Wii because by the time I knew about it, you could only find used copies for like $90+, and I was a poor college student. But when XCX came out I had graduated and was doing well and had the money to buy stuff outside of essentials. It was also the first Open World game to truly grab me. I normally get bored with no set direction in games and thus like a more linear experience with actual set goals, but something about XCX just called to me. I had spent over 40 hours in the game before starting Chapter 4. I had explored everywhere I could (so everywhere that didn't need a SKELL or flight) in that time. I just loved going everywhere around the world. I can't wait the a little over 2 months for the DE. I've got the following week off of work and I plan on just binge as much as I can in that time.
I’ve never played a xenoblade game but I saw the recent trailer for the remaster on switch and I gotta say it looks awesome. I’m truly considering picking it up!
I feel like an entire video could also be made about X's side quests or its gameplay I was a bit disappointed by X's differences from 1 when I started it but by the time I beat it I had grown to appreciate what it was Then I reset my game and did a playthrough with all the side quests and really involving myself with combat mechanics That propelled this game up to my favorite game and, while it has been eclipsed since, its still in my top 10
This is a fine essay. Comprehensive, while still being relatively concise. And how could I not enjoy a passionate tribute to my all-time favorite game? A couple random thoughts of mine: Strangely enough, the NLA music has kind of grown on me over the years, despite my initial dislike of it. I haven't heard it in game for a while now (whenever I revisit the game it's on emulator with various tracks replaced), but I don't think I'll mind it in DE. On the Western server, Go-rha the Guardian Deity had the highest kill/death ratio by a decent margin. Many people fell for his ruse...on both occasions. It's also the only non-mission exclusive Xe-dom in the game that will attack ground units unprovoked.
Thank you so much~ And yeah Go-rha really is one mean tyrant, I can't wait to see all the new players' reactions to all the other surprises the game has in store!
My guess at to the thing that made Go-rha get such a high KDR is the layers to it. First you see it and think it's salvage and get annihilated. Then you come back stronger, maybe with a Skell and still get destroyed. Then you keep getting killed by it until you find out it reflects EVERYTHING. After equipping some Null Reflect gear you still have the fight itself to worry about. Probably the most memorable Tyrant in the game for me.
I didn't had Xenoblade X because of Financial reason, but by Universe, I'll be glad to buy it now. You, My dear have shown the me the best way to buy an enjoy an immersive Sci-fi JRPG I've Yearn for since Phantasy Star.
Im so glad this game is getting a second chance with the switch version. I truly believe that this game is the reason Nintendo wanted Monolith to help with botw to begin with. Xenoblade X was so ahead of its time at world design and they saw that. Easily one of if not the most impressive world in all of gaming. Great essay
Now that the game is getting more focus and potentially way more audience, i want a compilation video of people getting jumpscared by thalluses with that horrible scream 😂
This is better edited and has better sound mixing than literally 90% of every other xeno x reviews thats an hour+ in runtime. Your sound is literally better than how it was in xenoblade x if you played without subtitles.
X was my favorite Xenoblade game before 3, and my absolute favorite game of the 8th generation (if we don't count Kid Icarus Uprising). I can't wait to replay it.
pro tip for new players if you want easier access to certain locations while still only on foot when strong enemies are blocking some of the way (if it wasn't reworked in DE which I doubt): You can learn an art from Elma that's an aura that grants camouflage and I believe with enough upgrade you can basically enter combat, activate aura, disengage combat and still keep that aura for an extended period of time per upgrade to run past enemies detection that would otherwise send you packing. EXPLORE WITHOUT LIMITS!
1:59 Personally, I would prepare for the possibility of X being canon. Telethia, interlink tech, a giant ship that looks like half of origin and many more little hints found throughout the artbook and the og wiiu version may manifest as more than simple lip service.
Love that I'm seeing more videos on XCX as DE is coming closer severely underrated game in the series(not helped by wii u sales) but honestly would buy an entire used wii u just to replay the game if I didn't own two already
Mira set a new bar for world exploration and character for me which just hasn't been met since. Sylvalum was ambrosial ❤
Oh absolutely, it's just impossibly beautiful!!
A video essay on Xenoblade X? Finally someone has made my ideal content
Always happy to see some good X glazing. Lots of passion, work, writing, editing, footage gathering, building, and tweaks clearly went into this. Love your artworks as well. Your Cross is one of the ones I remember from back in the day. X really is something special.
It really is, thank you so so much! I can't wait to see Mira through my Crosses eyes yet again!
i just started the video so I'm not sure if you'll mention it, but it's important to recognize that without Mira being an open world, we probably wouldn't have the gaming industry as we know it today. monolith soft working on an open world game for the WiiU was what got part of their team contracted to make Breath of the Wild, which reinvented open worlds and introduced an open world craze to the industry after its release
boy howdy do I hope you finished the video then :D
But yeah Botw wouldn't be where it is without X-
X was actually my introduction to the franchise, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Also, justice for NLA music! Easily two of the most underrated tracks in the game
Thank you so much!! Omg TRUE you are absolutely right about the parallel between the NLA tower and Hyrule castle, that's a great observation!
X's world is one of these few kinds of gaming worlds where I feel the need to boot up the game just tp exist in it, it's magical-
And hehehe yesssss Justice for NLA theme 😂
This was such a joy to listen to! I didn't think I could be more excited to play again, but this hyped me up.
Thank you so much!!!!
I am so happy about some people here saying that Xenoblade X is their favourite game of all time - it is mine as well! It is such a special game to me and I just cannot wait for the Definitive Edition, I need it injected into my veeeeins!
Great video, thank you! :3
Xenoblade X is the most important game in my life. I'm happy to see people talking about it. Hoping the remaster turns out well.
P. S.: I hope NLA Night is not actually hated as much as you think. It's my favorite song in the game. It definitely is in my "moan-in-the-shower-rotation"
@@Seacle14 justice for the NLA music!
@@HermesAvendano Thank you so so much, it means a lot to hear this!
I love your Skell names! YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE
LITERALLY THAT'S THE REASON ITS CALLED THAT WAY LMAO
Xenoblade X is my favorite in the series, and it is not close. It has its issues, but Xenoblade X leans the most heavily into the things the series does best. Scale, exploration, customization and wonder.
Everybody gangster until Theme X hits
I love this OST so much
I never really liked open world games that much, before playing X for the first time on the WiiU.
X is like the game my childhood self has subconsciously always dreamed of, it's so magical-
one of my favorite experiences in the game is naming my character Hope, then meeting Hope, the party member, and then finding the tyrant "killer of hope"
I don't think I ever realized the Cantors clacked like that O_O Thanks for somehow making them even MORE terrifying!
Hehehe, it's my pleasure >:)
Imagine what they could do if they put under water exploration in X2.
A concept I've been dreaming of....
This is still the greatest open world game ever created. And one of the ONLY ones where completing quests actually adds to the world. (An entire facility is built in Primordia just from doing a sidequests)
The sidequests are truly what make this games storytelling shine, they are so good!!
I feel like this video more than any other essay on youtube captures what I love about this game and why.
Amazing job!
Wow, this is such a high quality analysis video for so few subscribers of which you definitely deserve more. It was a blast watching it! Thanks! :D
That means a lot to hear, thank you so much!!! ❤
I didn't think anyone needed to sell me on my favorite game but you absolutely did. I replayed it for the first time in 8 years right after the remaster was announced and loved every second again. Thank you for making this and sharing the same passion I do for this masterpiece!!!
Sharing this video around, you deserve a lot of eyes on such a great essay.
thank you so much!!
@ ngl I’ve noticed your views have jumped nearly 1k since I posted it on the Xenoblade subreddit 😝
I’m really happy it’s doing so well for your first video essay!
@@Mawnster73 You are a super star!
Great video! I played this back on the Wii U, and your video made me really excited to explore Mira again! Can't wait for the Definitive Ediion release!
Thank you so much, and same! The 2 months can't go by fast enough!!!! ❤
my favorite game of all time getting the love it deserves
I absolutely adore this game! This is one of the games of my childhood! Even without the switch release that is coming soon, I still need to pick it up again and 100% it!
Wonderful video essay! XCX is my favorite video game of all time, and two reasons for that is its incredible open world and emphasis on exploration. I can't wait to revisit it with the Definitive Edition.
Thanks a ton! I also so can't wait to play it again-
Absolutely amazing work here! Love the detailed into what makes Mira truly one of a kind.
Im so hype i been waiting for years to play X since it first was announced on wiiu but never got a wiiu and the game so now i pre ordered X cant wait to be stuck on an alien planet
hope you will have a lot of fun with it!
Hope to play some nemesis missions with all my xeno vets
Amazing video! This just inspires me to do the videos i want to do for this series
Aaaa thank you so much, it means a lot to hear that! Go out there and make the stuff you wanna make!
I've tried to explain to my friends why I love this game so much, and even shared links to some videos to show off the world, but from here on out I'm just going to send them the link to this video. You really nailed why I believe XCX is so magical. Thank you!
aaaah that really means a lot to hear, thank you so much!!
this video was honestly so nice to watch after all these years after i played this game, i really loved x too and looking forward to play the switch version. your video was just awesome keep going🫶 btw the music from new la is goated imo 😅😂
HELL YEAH I'm glad to learn there's more fans of the NLA music out there haha
And thank you so much!!
Thank you so much!
I'm glad my endless rambling about how much I love this game is resonating with people and I also rly hope many new people will give it a try-
You should make more videos I cant wait for this.
Thank you so much! I probably won't have the time to make much more than this but I really really appreciate all this support!
Phenomenal video. I listened to the entire thing while at work. Part of me was dreading the release of X Definitive as I've already sunk 400 hours into the original game to 100% everything, but this video has got me hyped to play this game all over again. Well done.
thank you so much!!! hope you're gonna have fun on your replay!
You put into words so many of my thoughts on this game. Exploring Mira is such a magical experience, and the sheer amount of effort put into this games world building is second to none. Really looking forward to it getting a second chance to shine.
thanks a ton!
I can't wait to go back on Mira with all of you. I played the original X in 2020 and therefore never got to experience it with a big and active playerbase. With the DE I can finally fix that
Yesssssss I can't wait to see everyone again and have Mira feel like it's bustling with people!!!!
This video was so good! I played XCX years ago but never finished it. I’m so excited for the Switch version! Thanks for showing off how expansive and awesome Mira is.
I wish you all the fun on your return to Mira!!!
To this day, Sylvalum is still one of my favourite game locations.
The continent is essentially asleep during daytime, but wakes up at night. The change in music and bioluminescence of the spheres reflects that perfectly.
Can't wait! This year is starting out so great w/ a new MonHun + my favorite Xeno game getting remastered so close to each other.
awesome video, and massive kudos for writing a script for two years and then making such a massive movie about a game about my childhood, i know you didnt make it for me but it touches so many aspects that i as a kid found just awesome that it feels like something i was thinking about forever.
Ahhhhhh hearing this means a lot, really! I'm so glad my words were able to resonate with you~
An amazing video and I LOVE that you included the detailed collectopedia thing. I had my cross join the curators because i was interested in the monsters and environment of Mira. You earned a sub from me.
thank you so much!!
Yeah same, also joined the Curators fot the same reason hehe :D
Simply beautiful essay on one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Thank you so much!
thanks a ton!!!!
I listen to a lot of video essays and this one is super great! Keep making great videos and I'll keep watchin!
Thank you so so much!!!!
Its picks up heavy, and is one of the most interesting ones in the series to me, as it always keeps you guessing and asking questions even after you get answers to stuff
yess, X's story fits perfectly for the kind of game it is~
And yes this game is so gorgeous
That introduction scene of Primordia is still in my top 5 favorite scenes on all of gaming. The visuals and music are just PERFECTION. Can't wait to relive this game again in a couple of months! 🥰
yesss goosebumps every time!!!
I'm so happy we're getting a remaster, I've always praised this as the best open world ever created and it's fantastic seeing others agree
Thank you so much! I really cannot wait to see it all in a new light! ❤
So I'm really happy to see this video :3
It's easy to say that it's an amazing world that you love to be in, but it's hard to pinpoint all the things which makes it so special compared to other worlds.
Thank you ❤
well done! I think you should consider more video essays like this! You could take your time on each one and there's no need to push. You've got this!
thank you much, it means a lot to hear this 😭
@@aeviannpick things you're passionate about! cause that was the magic in this video for me. take time to set up the ground work for how you'll story-tell your experiences. I think you'll best fill in the rest. don't work yourself to death, but I think you should consider making more and see where the business leads!
You've got my sub! As your current shareholder! I demand more video essays!
:P but seriously consider it. take your time! just make it a banger like this one
Amazing video, I'm counting the days to play xenoblade x for the first time ✨️
I'm counting the days for the second time, and it's as exciting as the first!
I'm really hoping you're gonna have a lot of fun!!!
God I can't wait to play this game again in March. It's already such a fantastic experience once you get to grips with it and experiencing all the new stuff on top of that is hopefully going to be such a treat
Yes I still can't believe how much work Monolith clearly put into DE from what we know, I am so excited!
Incredible video, i was already super hyped to hop back into Mira once more, now I am even more excited.
thank you so much!
Great video for a great game, makes my day. Can't wait to dive into Mira again with X DE.
Xenoblade is the only series i know of with two distinct but equally goated composition directions.
How can one video hype me up even more for this game TWT Splendid work Aevi
Thank you so much you sweetheart aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
What this essay makes me realize is that I really need to explore this landscape more on foot!
And we won't need to wait much longer for this!
So far only 4 minutes in and you've already said everything that has bugged me with the X discourse in the past decade, thank you so much lmao
Not the most loved game in the series - but definitly the most important Xenoblade game for its genre, Mira is absolutely to this day still the benchmark of what a GOOD open world should be.
Anyways played X on Wii U for like 1000 hours total, gonna do the same on switch for sure, everyone who mildly enjoys freedom/exploration in games really should try it out at least.
hahaha, I'm glad I managed to put it into words like that-
Wishing you all the fun on your next 1000 hours on Mira! ^^
@@aeviann Thank you! ^^
Finished the rest of the video by now ofc - super well written overall, love all the comparisons and the deeper dive into the interplay between mechanics, lore and overall experience - amazing video
What an absolute gorgeous love Letter Aeviann. This game has so many gorgeous elements to it, and you've highlighted them beautifully. Thank you❤️
Additionally, I'll fight you over the NLA music over some Manon Pizza! 😌❤️
Thank you so much, I did my best to capture my love for it 😭
And Pizza's on me ❤
To me the craziest thing about X is just how much more of the world opens up with some clever Skell Platforming.
Iirc, the only places that no one has figured out how to do without flight are the Final Chapter area and the top of Blade Tower.
hehehe yeah that's true, if you're really dedicated you can already reach so many places, which really speaks for this game's movement ^^
NLA theme is comical, but really entertaining once you throw away your sense of embarrassment. Unironically love it nowadays.
@@TheMystenigma hehehe yeah, but I agree it might have been even more effective to mention it earlier, as I think it really is a strong point to make in favor of X
Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot!
I'm so happy to see all these videos being made, especially videos like this. (Mine ain't ever coming out😭)
Thank you!!! And don't drag yourself down, I'm sure you gonna make them ine day!
I can't wait to play this again!
I am a fan of game being just an illusion as someone that is easily immersed people don't realize how dangerous it's to not have the limits.
"to make your time in it worthwhile" ... this really resonates
Thank you Null ❤
Probably I would give it, and give me the opportunity to play this game again.
Now I more mature, and I can give up on not having huge story. But a exploration game.
The video was truly helpful.
thank you~
God damn i'm excited to jump back into Mira for the 3rd time
Really awesome video.
It's absolutely worth giving it a shot! If you do, I really hope you will have as much fun with it as I did!
Vídeo maravilhoso! Espero que você faça mais conteúdo de X depois do laçamento de definitive edition!
I feel like an entire video could also be made about X's side quests or its gameplay
I was a bit disappointed by X's differences from 1 when I started it but by the time I beat it I had grown to appreciate what it was
Then I reset my game and did a playthrough with all the side quests and really involving myself with combat mechanics
That propelled this game up to my favorite game and, while it has been eclipsed since, its still in my top 10
Oh absolutely, the sidequests in this game are really what make this world and storytelling whole!
This is a fine essay. Comprehensive, while still being relatively concise. And how could I not enjoy a passionate tribute to my all-time favorite game? A couple random thoughts of mine:
Strangely enough, the NLA music has kind of grown on me over the years, despite my initial dislike of it.
Thank you so much~
And yeah Go-rha really is one mean tyrant, I can't wait to see all the new players' reactions to all the other surprises the game has in store!
Great essay
Thank you so much!!!!!
Very relaxing to listen to, amazing work. Subbed and hoping you pop off!
Now that the game is getting more focus and potentially way more audience, i want a compilation video of people getting jumpscared by thalluses with that horrible scream 😂
Hahahahaha omg PLEASE 😂
This is better edited and has better sound mixing than literally 90% of every other xeno x reviews thats an hour+ in runtime.
Your sound is literally better than how it was in xenoblade x if you played without subtitles.
Hahahaha omg, thank you so much, that is a huge relief to hear 😂
@aeviann i literally played wii u xeno x last night just to confirm too. The sound mixing was uhhhhhhh interesting
X was my favorite Xenoblade game before 3, and my absolute favorite game of the 8th generation (if we don't count Kid Icarus Uprising). I can't wait to replay it.
Takahashi nailed it with Xenoblade X back in 2015 but so few played that Zelda took all the credit of 1st Open World Nintendo Game.
I love my mech.
Iam so excited to play Xcx again in march.
I can't wait to explore Mira again in March.
can't wait for the definitive edition in march!
pro tip for new players if you want easier access to certain locations while still only on foot when strong enemies are blocking some of the way (if it wasn't reworked in DE which I doubt):
You can learn an art from Elma that's an aura that grants camouflage and I believe with enough upgrade you can basically enter combat, activate aura, disengage combat and still keep that aura for an extended period of time per upgrade to run past enemies detection that would otherwise send you packing.
EXPLORE WITHOUT LIMITS!
1:59 Personally, I would prepare for the possibility of X being canon.
Telethia, interlink tech, a giant ship that looks like half of origin and many more little hints found throughout the artbook and the og wiiu version may manifest as more than simple lip service.
while I prefer for X being special for what it is as a standalone game, there's definitely some connections that can be made-
New sub here, hopefully we get some more XbX content from you, cause this was excellent
thank you so much ;w;
Love that I'm seeing more videos on XCX as DE is coming closer
severely underrated game in the series(not helped by wii u sales) but honestly would buy an entire used wii u just to replay the game if I didn't own two already
WiiU will always remain the Xenoblade X machine to me 😌
I cant wait to try this on switch
i was under the impression that sylvalum is a desert but a spore desert. its not sand but used spores by the big ,mushroom like things
By far, my favorite game of all time ! Can't wait to play it again on Switch (2?) !
