Why the US isn't Worried about China's Stealth Fighter

  • The United States has expressed concerns about China’s J-20 Mighty Dragon, which is often compared to the American F-22 Raptor. The J-20 is China’s indigenous stealth fighter, and the US alleges that China may have stolen American technology. The J-20’s stealth capabilities are a point of interest.

      I consider the F-22 superior that J-20 but...
      1. Being made in the 90s means it has some obsolete systems. Lacks range, lacks IR sensors for heat missiles, lacks conectivity.
      2. The general purpose of the J-20 seems to be bombing and speed much more than dogfight.
      So F-22 is a superior dog fighter but J-20 uses furtivity to bomb and eacape. F-22 will have a tough time intercepting J-20 due to speed and lack of targeting (only radar missiles and no heat missiles).

      F-22 was introduced at 2005 while J20 at 2017. They're just 12 years late
      And now, they had more J20 in service than F-22 the US ever made
      The F-35 was then developed because US who have much larger military budget than China, can't even afford more F-22

    • @za_pravdu1943
      @za_pravdu1943 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@XimCinesI doubt J-20 would be used for face-to-face combat, since they lack of dogfight capability.
      There's more likely another fighter jet in front of them to help spot the hostiles, so J-20 can launch missiles at a distance while remains undetected

    • @tacticalturtlez4906
      @tacticalturtlez4906 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      @@za_pravdu1943not at all. The US absolutely could afford to produce more F-22s if it wanted to. It doesn’t. Raptors were canceled after about 120 or so were produced because they were expensive but used older technology that was quickly becoming obsolete. It was cheaper to start a program for the f-35 with multiple allies and work to produce a 6th gen than it would be to update and continue to produce the f-22. It was an economic decision to conserve for the time (when no other country could rival the f-22) in order to have something better in the future.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I laugh when I read your comment about how you want state of the art 5th gen stealth jets with 300km range missiles like PL-15 and which don't even have cannons/guns(like the J-20) and obviously designed purely for BVR combat to get into a "dogfight" like that would somehow prove something about the J-20 or prove that F-22 is superior. Lol
      F-22 doesn't mean shit. There's only 150 of them. In a real conflict they won't be fighting alone, and just 2 "inferior" J-10C would destroy the F22 in visual range. What's the point of even dogfighting as a stealth jet? You stay hidden, shoot your load, and run away. Don't need to dogfight, or even WANT to.
      War is not about who has more advanced or higher quality tech. Quantity has a quality of its own. Just ask Ukraine if they want one himars or patriot, or one Abrams, or if they want 100,000 "low tech" artillery shells.
      When usa gets routinely humbled and loses to low tech goat herders and villagers like in Vietnam and Afghanistan, and gets destroyed by just home made IED or simple booby traps like a hole dug into the ground with wooden spikes sticking up at the bottom.
      I doubt you will cares how modern or advanced your m-16 is as youre bleeding out and dying due to being impaled by a simple sharpened wooden stick which was smeared in your enemies shit to cause infections in case it didn't kill you. In the end you died in n same way as a cavemen from 50,000 years ago or an animal in a trap.
      It's not the technology that matters, but how you use it. Surprise and range is still the best technology or strategy, which is why stealth and BVR is king. The literal opposite of "dogfights". Superior Knowledge and being able to capitalize on that knowledge is what wins fights.
      That's why they are retiring the F-22, since even if it's stealthy, it is not built to dominate in this networked information where all J-20 and F-35 etc share information with each other.
      It's like you can have the best classic sniper rifle with most powerful bullet and longest range. But I have a FPV suicide drone and stay hidden behind cover and just fly the drone into your cover and you are dead. No one fights 1v1 dogfights ever, unless they fucked up or got unlucky.

      Yeah, Vietnam is what happens when politicians think they know better than the one the do it for a living. If the President would have given the military an objective and turn them loose it would have turn out far different. Stupid rules of engagement!

    • @onerimeuse
      @onerimeuse 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@kevinwhittaker2337 rules of engagement aren't a bad thing. They can hamstring the grunts in some cases, but they're an important to have when you turn a bunch of weaponized 18-20 somethings lose into a foreign country surrounded by enemies that are blending in with the population, and fuel them little than bad food caffeine and nicotine. They're also important from a macro perspective, since having and enforcing those guidelines helps us maintain our moral high ground when war is already such a morally mirky subject.
      It's why every time Russia flagrantly commits a war crime in Ukraine or Ukraine gets their pows back emaciated and beaten we point towards Ukraine and how they're prosecuting their side of the war and can say, clearly, "this is how you know they're not the bad guys here" (despite what Russias bots try so hard to convince the world otherwise).
      Buuuuuuut, having literally watched taliban (Intel guy, lot of time staring at drone feeds) knowing our rules of engagement and leveraging them to their advantage, like dumping a couple of magazines and then ditching weapons with runners as soon as they entered populated areas...yeah... I definitely understand the frustration.

      It’s not an expensive paper weight. It’s a multi purpose weapon, but that emphasizes modern air to air combat. No one ever calls the Hornet an expensive paper weight, but when they create a stealth plane that isn’t even that expensive for fighter jets this day and age it’s and expensive paper weight. For goodness sake you have the best avionics sweet on any fighter aircraft ever and have great stealth characteristics at the cost of less than an F14D, which is one of the most widely beloved and revered fighter platforms, is a dream

    That combo will swat J 20.
