It took me WAY too long to realize the morphing motion consisted included a quick steering wheel motion with their hands.
The main problem with Turbo was that the production staff was basically told to change things up because of dropping ratings. So they changed all the superficial stuff, not the important things... Stone's job, Demitria, Bulk & Skull, Alpha...
For as much as people rag on Justin, the kid was a decent enough actor, it was the writing around him. The veterans had to be written stupid to give Justin moments to shine... The rest of the cast was obviously getting very bored , starting towards the end of Zeo, which certainly wasn't helping
Fun Fact: the Japanese video clip where it's show: "The Gangranger's attack by kicking the ball" actually a parody of the finishing move of the first ever Super Sentai Team: Himitsu Sentai Goranger.

Well, that's the Zokuranger's Schtick: being an evil Sentai parody team, hell; ZokuRed/SS Paaman's ultimate attack is a call back to the finishing moves of previous Sentai Megazords.
Kamen Rider has it's flying kick, Super Sentai has that freakin' ball. How many early Sentai had that freakin ball again? I know for sure Kakuranger had it, one episode made a big deal about the Yokai being able to copy it! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD

To be fair the whole point of Carranger was to be a dumb cheesy comedy... And for that it works perfectly, it's weird and so...perfectly japanese

Yeah,and it is improtant to know the target market of Super sentai is little yonger than the target market to PR (and get even younger in the last seasons)
My head-canon has the Zeo powers, derived from the Zeo crystal, becoming unstable due to the crystal (which was mentioned in the Zeo series to continually grow more powerful) growing more energetic than the Zeonizers can handle.
Billy took Zordon's words about the crystal growing more powerful over time on board and developed the Turbo powers (with the same colors as the Zeo powers) so they could syphon more energy than the Zeonizers safely.
Imagine if they added a super zeo mode to or upgrading their morphers

Kind of makes you wonder why these writers were even hired to make a show appealing towards kids in the first-place. Or why they only credited into writing kids' shows instead of writing contents for adults?

Yuji Kishi, Kyosuke's actor was somewhere in the area of 26-28 when Megaranger vs Carranger was filmed. I realized while typing this you were referring to Kenta. Kenta Date was played by a man named Hayato Oshiba. He was somewhere between 20 and 22 when the movie was filmed, and Kenta is 19 in the time frame of the movie
It's kind of funny seeing that you acknowledged Carranger as a parody season but is shocked/confused when they're actually parodying and not taking itself seriously

Tbh I'm glad it was turned into "Shift Into Turbo". The guy who plays Andros in the Space season, has produced 2 episodes of a new series called Bloodline of the Grid. It's referenced in episode 2. 😄

Operation Overdrive didn't fix all the destroyed powers. Adam got his powers restored by Sentinel Knights yes. The morphin grid being fixed only made it so operation overdrive rangers can reaccess the powers.
It's funny to watch an adult overthinking and reviewing the plot holes of a show written to basically sell toys, hahaha
Good video, man. I didn't really know that Turbo was the least liked season. Also learning a lot of the lore, like Zeo powers being the greatest powers. I hope the comics make a good job at linking these seasons together into one cohesive universe.
With your David Yost cameo at the start, it just makes me wish he could come back in power rangers and leave with a better experience than his original.

In Once A Ranger, Sentinel Knight said he restored the veteran rangers powers himself. The Morphin Grid being fixed was for the Overdrive Rangers...WHY SENTINEL KNIGHT DIDN'T DO THE SAME FOR THE MAIN TEAM MAKES NO SENSE!

My headcanon before learning of the zeo powers and rules was Zordon felt bad for Divatox being their "rival". So he out of pity made the Turbo zords/powers just so she can have somewhat an advantage fighting.
The reason why the actress for Divatox changed from the movie to the series was because the original actress was pregnant and went on maternity leave. I guess she wad still under contract and just came back 😂
I love how you always said "moving on" everytime there's a stupidity in Carranger.
If everybody said that the rangers in Season 1 had no personality, then they'd have a heart attack seeing Tommy, Adam, Kat, and Tanya being stripped off their personalities for this season

Yeah just got finished watching Carranger just now. Freakin' loved it. Was very refreshing seeing a tokusatsu show that just full on embraced the inherit insanity of the genre but still told a fun story that had its fair share of dramatic moments. Kind of like the Teen Titans cartoon.
And yeah, I liked it far more than PR Turbo which tried to take itself seriously but failing miserably. That and shoving Justin in everyone's face at the expense of the other characters...

So I'm late to the party, but I think I can actually provide, a plausible theory as to the possible existence of Thrax and why he's not human and evil. Lord Zedd is the main protagonist of the 2007, Power Rangers: Super Legends video game. In which the purified human version of Zedd is now living and working as an archeologist. He finds magical "time crystals" that lets the holder view past events and being curious to see the extent of his evil past, he starts to spy on his past evil self. He is instantly corrupted by his past self's power and becomes evil again, having all of his former power restored. Galactic Overlord Zedd then used the time crystals to attack various times and teams of rangers. He could have used the crystals to also visit the past and have Thrax with a still evil Rita Repulsa before her purification.

This video was definitely worth the wait! Just finished watching Carranger last week, too, so it was good timing for me. Pretty interesting that Carranger was considered a bit too silly, since while I originally didn't care for it for the first 18 episodes, by the twentieth or so, the pace started to pick up REALLY fast, and it became a lot more engaging. Not nearly as engaging as prior shows like Kakuranger or Ohranger, but it had a few more high points than Zyuranger and especially a bunch of the modern sentai. I think it's because I thought it would have more fourth wall breaks than it does, but that's a thing Akibaranger ended up doing.
Pretty eager to see how you cover the next series, and I don't mind if the wait is nearly the same length if the end product is made well.
Carranger is one of my favorite sentai of all time, and one of the funniest TV shows I've ever seen. It does help that I know Japanese so none of the humor is lost in translation. And I watched it in my thirties, so I can't agree with the sentiment that there isn't much for adults in it. I like edgier sentai, sure, but I don't NEED edginess, I'm not a teenager.

I'm in my late 30s and I LOVE Gekisou Sentai Car Ranger, even though Kakuranger is my favorite super sentai. I've been watching Tokusatsu since mid 90s so, hey. On the flipside, I liked Turbo when T.J. and co. first arrived because I was getting very tired of Tommy and co.. The new rangers were fun (and more Japanese footage was used) for a while. After they received the rescue zords (and less Japanese footage was used), the show did go downhill, fast.

So, here's an idea for explaining the issues with Gordon being stuck in his tube in the In Space season. They establish here that Dark Specter's forces were invading Eltar, maybe one of them was Rita in this situation, or Dark Specter himself, and instead of just trapping him in a time warp this time, he was literally placed inside the tube to enact Dark Specter's power drain plan
Billy creating the turbo power would make the light speed rescue rangers having man made power rangers a little more believable in that universe
What if Billy actually helped develop the aquabase ? And develop the lightspeed powers during the 3 seasons between end of zeo and lightspeed rescue......remember Billy would have learned to develop technology for underwater from living on Aquatar.......
One thing to consider about turbo is that at this time Saban was also making Beatle borgs and mystic knights of something something ( I don’t remember what the last part was) which might be why they used less Japanese footage since they were filming so much of they’re own footage for the other shows
Mystic Knights wasn’t a thing until sometime around In Space/Lost Galaxy tho. However, VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs probably were partly responsible for that.

Regarding the Zeo Powers, that Power Chamber was far underground as shown in the first episode of Zeo. Still, would the Rangers have had access to it (Goldar and Rito did...)? Also, one could also ask how strong the Zeo powers would have been for the current Turbo team as it was established the Zeo Powers grow with the user over time.

The Turbo powers aren't duplicated the Robo Turbo Rangers just have access to the powers just like how the Legendary Rangers can access the Legendary Powers.

wonder why in Turbo, they use a Pirate Theme for the Villains instead of keeping the Biker Gang Theme in Carranger, like that would fit better with the Automobile themes of the Rangers
I'm not sure where your getting that the morphing grid was damaged before Operation Overdrive. It was damaged during Once a Ranger, but only the specific part that gave that set of rangers their powers. The Zeo powers weren't tied to the Command Center, so they weren't lost. It's also entirely possible, as per the first SPD/Thunder Thunder crossover, for old powers to be restored.

Part of the reason that MMPR characters are able to be hurt when not morphed is outside of fighting putties they're still quite human when not in their 'power armor' type suits. It wasn't until Dino Thunder that they gained powers that weren't involved directly in their morphed forms. The ninja suits are their own issue as well, that I don't even want to go into. That's also addressed somewhat in the Japanese shows more directly, as was shown in the Japanese show Zeo was based off of.

As whatever as turbo is and silly carranger is, this is still one of my favorite designs for the rangers outfits and especially the helmets. Maybe it's because I first saw this during that cool car phase a lot of boys have, but I just really fucking dig the helmet designs, especially for red ranger
If i was to rewrite how they got turbo powers it will be zordon and alpha takes the zeo crystals and zords with them to outer space to fight villains. Although he left a mentor for them in form of phantom ranger if something happened while they gone.
It so happens divatox arrives to find lerigot and phantom ranger activates his protocol. He built turbo zords in likeness of earth vehicles ( bcos humans reliance on vehicles ) using remnants of any destroyed zords. The rangers were recruited once again by phantom ranger ( idk if justin should be blue ranger or not ) to combat divatox and save lerigot.
Well thats just my pitch for turbo movie.

Exhaus’ evil plan makes sense if you’re a fan of random series lore and insanity. They didn’t need roads in space for driving, but if Exhaus makes his intergalactic highway, everyone would probably have to follow the highway and he could toll the shit out of them along with other roadside attractions like you’d see driving cross country. He’d make money in that way. Silly. Just like Caranger.
The highway would be like Hyperspace lanes in Star Wars. They’re safe passage coordinates through space to make sure you don’t fly through a Star or crash into a planet.
Maybe, Tommy is a fan that 1996 movie that may or may not have beaten them to the punch with the “it’s turbo time“ thing, in-series

Also, the Turbine Laser in Turbo is actually the VRV Master's (Phantom Ranger) vehicle in Carranger. I should know, it was sold as part of Bandai's Turbo toy line.

Yes, maybe lightspeed rescue got parts from the destroyed zords or simply had access to the technology to develop the lightspeed rescue zords....

Like with the turbo powers being “Short-circuited“ by water thing, since Malagor is a lava monster, water would theoretically destroy him, and that’s why the Rangers threw him over cliff into the ocean.

When I learned about the monsters in car rangers grow by eating food. That made me watch this more than turbo, while Divatox is interesting to watch. The monsters here had a whole lot of personality.

Wow! PR Turbo and Carrangers had more in common than I thought. They are both crazy to watch.
And the Power Rangers Turbo movie was disappointing because it felt like the tv show but with a bigger budget.

I think the whole idea of trying to speculate on what actually happened to the Zeo powers is fun, but you know in the end of the day they hadn't really thought out a good way to transition to them. Toss in a throwaway line by Zordon that the Zeo powers only grow stronger over time, and plenty of people make theories as to why they don't use the Zeo powers anymore.
The only thing I can think of that would remotely explain the Turbo powers is that they are in fact the Zeo powers, just rebranded so to speak. Kind of like upgrading your Operating System on your computer, it gets a face lift and the Zords were just rebuild from scratch because Billy likes cars and not telepathic battle zords and geometric shapes so much.
Realistically though, we know its just because they ran out of Ohranger footage and needed to switch to the Carranger footage and needed to make a new toy line, etc.
the first time divatox wanted to use a bomb all i could think of was oh god that's what destroyed the command center in mmpr. then by the 15th time she wanted to use a bomb i was like oh #*$% off.
