Keep it up!!! I bought my first one in 1999, it was a 96 LSC Toreador Red and drove that until 2015. I have 2 more today, a 95 with LSC body trim, repainted in Kona Blue and a 98 LSC Toreador Red with a KB 2.1 blower and a few other mods :-)) I'm only writing this because I can see in your video that you have the love for these cars. I hope you get as much enjoyment that I have over the last 20 years.

Original air suspension is the best no doubt. I have been driving 97 base for a few years now, and just bought a 98 LCS near mint condition. The 97 air ride shit to bed the first year I had it. Front struts leaking and I think something with the control too. I didn't want to be throwing money at it so converted to coil. After research I went with the strutmaster, most expensive but I know it was the right choice. Yes ride is firm, but not bad and the car still handles very well. Have to repeat that it still handles well. My 98 is working perfectly with no leaks and hope it last but you know how these are lol. If the snow ever melts here maybe I'll do my first youtube vid on it. the 98 is a beauty.

If your Mark 8 is a daily driver then go to coils and it will drive like a sport car provided you put the lowering coils but if it's not a daily definitely replace the entire air system cause man it rides nice with those airbags. I removed my air system saved it all as it is all brand new for when I retire the car from a daily driver.

I would've saved the air ride, but the compressor was weak, all 4 leaked, the ride height was too high in the rear, and too low in the front, and the solenoids would sometimes get stuck open. I think its always worth saving, but I know for a fact it was going to burn a fat hole in my pocket.

Correct! The ONLY way you'll come out ahead is if you do the installation yourself otherwise it's not worth it. But if you can these are some bad ass cars

The panel underneath your rear window is called the package shelf

Got a blue 93 in the uk, its had the coil conversion done by the previous owner and it rides like a 'brick' as you say 😂 if it had air ride I would have swapped it out, I had a 1994 continental that I swapped out to coils as the bags were bad and super expensive to get new ones in the uk, the coil conversion seemed like a much better option at the time and lots cheaper, I couldn't face spending 2k rather than 600 for the coils lols

It also trims the steering as it corners with the bags ,that's why it Handles better!

My 95 rides like shit with air ride. I've tried factory height and lowered couple inches doesn't matter. Hit those small cracks in the highway and it's worse than my truck lol. But those dips it's a little bit floaty not horrible though. I've got a Strut Masters 1-1/2 or 2 inch lowering kit though. Haven't put it in yet to know the difference

It's because the struts are gone, it's not the air rides fault

The reason why its so "floaty and boaty"? Because your shocks are shot. and the rears are REALLY expensive. The cheap aftermarket replacement ones are garbage. The Barrels on the originals are HUGE and do the proper job of dampening. Those shitty ones that you can get thru stutmasters only last about a year.

Did you do coils or keep the bags? What's the best brand there for both options (bags/coils)?

    • @kennywilliams7339
      @kennywilliams7339 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I kept the bags after switching it over to the strutmastets set up. Not bad for the money, but use the actual shocks from ford or the Monroe equivalent. The rear bags are very easy to replace. The fronts are difficult.

@@kennywilliams7339 so coils > air ride?

I used coils after my airbags leaked. I went back to bags when I found some that weren’t expensive….and I HATED the coils. To be clear, I’ve never had “coilovers”

Unfortunately ill have no choice but to go to coils as there isnt a good solid air strut out there anymore that will hold the pressure for an extended time unlike the arnott air struts. Suncore,Unity, and Westar at this point are now Garbage

For a daily driver, should I do coils or try to save the air ride? If I do coils, does the car ride smooth? How could I lower it?

  • @edbarker8636

Pretty short lowers at 50 miles an hour and it is 8/10 of an inch
