An ALL TIME Album. It's one of those records you play start to finish and want to play it all over again. It has staying power. Glad you guys enjoyed it. It's worth reviewing the whole album track by track.

Tame impala is Kevin Parker lol, the band does live performances but Kevin is Tame Impala, he does literally every instrument on the albums. It’s just physically impossible for him to play them all at live shows.
This bass line gets me in soul every time. I remember finding this album just to listen to this song over and over but ended up loving the entire thing. So many good songs!
Tame Impala is nuts. Thanks for getting to them. Kevin Parker has a pretty big history of working with Hip hop artists as a producer. And their sound has been sampled through the years

So happy that yall are doing this! I agree with another comment, if you get back to this band, do "Let It Happen!" Not smooth in the same way, but super cool track! "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" is another great track.
I'd also love to see you guys check out Thundercat. "Them Changes" or "Dragonball Durag" would be right up your alley. If you do the latter, PLEASE do the video with it, it's hilarious

I discovered Tame Impala after hearing Sundress by ASAP Rocky in which he sampled the song Why wont you make up your mind. Since then I went back and listened to all Tame Impala's album. Incredible music.
"Too smooth for y'all to recommend." 😂 TI is definitely some genre crossing goodness. "Let It Happen" and "Elephant" are both worth checking out.
When I first heard “elephant” I thought it was a lost Beatles track 😂

An incredibly addicting song. Went through a streak for months where I'd listen to this at least 5 times a day. Great vibe. Rest of the album is just as good and creative.

Earlier Tame Impala was heavier on the psychedelic side. More recently you find tracks with the R&B vibe, like this and Borderline (which you’ll also like).
PLEASE DO MORE!!! Let it Happen is my favorite, but New Person, Same ol Mistakes is also incredible. But The Moment is probably the next most “poppy” song. Most of his music is really meant for long grooves.
The hip hop community loves tame impala. Rihanna, asap, Kanye, Travis Scott have all worked with him. “New Person Same Old Mistakes” is the best tame impala song!

I got introduced to this record recently. I do guitar improv and those final chords are such a joy to play over. There's a lot of clever songwriting in his tunes.
Never heard of them and saw them live not realizing how popular they are. Put on a great performance!
The insane thing is that it is actually just one guy, writing, producing and singing everything while playing every instrument by himself aswell. Just on live performances he is assisted by his friends

This song is a mixing masterpiece especially for their time
as a metal head even I can tell when a good song is just a good song in fact I like this band I got a few of their songs pure bangers and just a nice, lovely vibe, you got to have that balance people chill music and the sped up just like life I guess but then again each to their own.

Tbh, it's a perfect 10/10 song. Kevin took a universally relatable emotion and set it to an impossibly catchy groove/vibe that's also musically interesting enough to warrant infinite listens. This is how you write a perfect pop song. 😎

Yall should check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard another aussie pshyce band. Almost all their albums explore differnt genres whether its jazz, folk or thrash metal. Definitly my favourite band of recent times!

Tame Impala is one of the greatest artists of the 2010s, period. Currents is an amazing album start to finish, all of his albums are the kind you need to listen to from beginning to end. his first 2 are basically straight up psychedelic rock, his last 2 incorporate more synthwave/electro-pop but still have that psych backbone and feel. I’m really happy you guys finally did a Tame Impala reaction, if you dug this track you will for sure enjoy the rest of the catalogue!

Tame Impala are a great band and here in aus they've been a tour de force for the past decade. you'll hear their songs played at every basic white girl party. I HIGHLY recommend yall listen to Feels Like We Only Go Backwards btw, you'll love it.
As an aside, I'd go as far as saying there's been a bit of a rock renaissance in Australia more generally, with unique, smooth blends of psych, garage, prog, surfer, indie and alt rock to name a few genres. Live music and open festivals is a big part of the culture. You'd be surprised, even metalcore is pretty mainstream, because rap and hip hop doesn't have the same vice grip as it does in america. So if you see recommendations for aussie bands, rest assured, it's probably fun and melodically redeemable on some level. Cheers boiz

I've got this album cover tattooed on my arm, that's how transformative this album was for me when it came out. Definitely recommend Let It Happen or Eventually from this same album. I personally think the guys would like It Is Not Meant to Be from Innerspeaker or Apocalypse Dreams by Lonerism! Do more Tame Impala for sure, please!

This song is sexy as hell. Hope you guys get into their more psychedelic stuff from the earlier albums like Feel like we only go backwards. Lots of amazing songs from this group and a good indicator that the whole 'modern music sucks' narrative is complete bs. The kids are alright.
