    You guys captured the essence of this song perfectly, and I'm glad to see Ryan push aside his disgusting, ever-present happiness and positivity for just long enough to find some enjoyment in a Radiohead tune. 😂

      This reminds me of being stuck in a narcissistic relationship for 10 years.... Where All the Love I gave meant nothing & All her bad deeds were getting mirrored onto me.
      What's that song, "Beautiful girls make you suicidal" ?
      Anyway, so glad that I made it out of that situation. The song used to make me cry every time I heard it; even though I Always liked it.

    I know sad songs can be tricky for you guys, especially Ryan, but Radiohead's exit music for a film is a painfully beautiful song lyrically and manages to convey incredible amounts of emotion while being totally subdued. Not playlist probably, but an experience.

    From what I've read Yorke was born with a defective left eye that he couldn't even open until numerous surgeries while a child. He was bullied growing up and I'm sure that is a factor contributing to his lifelong struggle with depression and pessimistic outlook on life. Incredible art often comes through suffering though and he is an amazing singer and Radiohead are super-talented musicians. I love that all original members are still in the band and they still get along well with each other.

    I used to think of this girl when I heard this song. I thought she was amazing, and perfect. We were friends, but I wanted more. She wanted someone else. Looking back, I was wrong. She was a drunk, had a lot of problems, far from the perfect girl I thought she was. Now that I met my wife, I see how wrong this girl would’ve been, we never could’ve had the wonderful relationship I have now. Years later we were catching up, and I confessed to her I thought about her when I heard this song. She said she thought about someone else when hearing this song. She thought she was the creep and the weirdo, and couldn’t imagine that someone else would think she was perfect. The moral of the story is they are probably not perfect. You will find someone. And if you feel like the creep, someone out there might think you are perfect. Keep looking for that person. They will show up, and shine when they see you.

    • @JohnSmith-sl6uq
      @JohnSmith-sl6uq ปีที่แล้ว +53

      Think the difference is Alice in Chains' Dirt era is heavy and catchy and easy to groove to, so you can kind of ignore the lyrics and just jam out. Radiohead songs are much more obvious in their depressiveness in terms of their music.
      Notice that Ryan didn't really vibe with Jar of Flies era Alice in Chains because it's much more obvious in its depressiveness, similar to Radiohead

    The lyrics are self explanatory, we all have felt rejection and that understanding that the one you love wants nothing to do with you. Though I would say that the real explanation has far more to do with social rejection and social maladaptation than just being rejected by a girl.

    Love you guys doing more Radiohead, always great videos. And especially glad to see Ryan being a little more open to the qualities of the song even if it is really not his thing.
    I think you should really try some different kind of Radiohead songs though if you want to continue down this road. It's not all slow songs that try to invoke depressive qualities. They are undoubtedly one of the most creative bands in the world.
    Some great Radiohead songs that hit very differently than stuff like Creep and Karma Police:
    Just
    2+2=5
    15 step
    Jigsaw Falling Into Place
    Lotus Flower
