Shown here is a great sign of a great player.....He's not wrestling the guitar. He's playing smooth and fluent......One of the secrets of great players is that ability. He has it. Well done
Cool...nice job! I actually wrote the chorus music back in 1986 when Ty and I were living together and they used it on this. Those were some fun times....
The timing of the rhythm is what makes this song so great. If you listen carefully, Ty is playing letting some of the chords ring, but he's hitting others and then cutting them off. The guy is one of the greatest rock rhythm players ever IMO.
Awesome. Gotta tell ya, the only time I could really even tell you were playing alongside was during the solo, and even then it sounded more like just a chorus pedal than another guitarist. During the rhythm sections, it was pretty much perfect unison. What a badass song, and what an accomplishment to nail it. Other than my appreciation of your performance, I think the other thing I liked most was actually seeing the song played live on a guitar! I've always "known" and had a general understanding of what was going on (being a guitar player myself), but seeing it done from this perspective really brings it home! Especially since I haven't found any live videos of the song being played by Ty himself... Great job! Thank you!
So awesome... There about two thirds through the song I got to thinking, damn this song looks tiring to play. At the end I was exhausted having watched it. Your grunt at the end confirmed my beliefs! Bravo dude, superb job!
I appreciate all the videos. You do an amazing job. A friend of mine introduced me to King's X in the late 80s after the Faith Hope Love album. Saw them in concert with Living Colour on that tour and King's X opened. I don't remember much about Living Colour. King's X stole the show. I've been playing this song and this video has helped get it down, but that ending is an exercise in bitchery. I'm not sure I'll get through the pattern twice without screwing it up. Again, very well done.
This is my favorite video these days...you nail a great song. Shows just how amazing a guitar player Ty is for coming up with this and how amazing you are for being able to pull it off perfectly, and even embellish it a little. Kudos to you!
It sure is a great outro. It would be a great guitar exercise if there were tabs or a tutorial. Kings X! Oh man, I guess they are just too good for common folks.
Great work as always! Your KX covers are the best. I've never tried to play this one but it would appear to be one of Tys more challenging pieces. Cheers! V
@MrWestdene1972 Combination with my guitar being panned hard right and left. There are moments throughout the video where I may play something different then Ty and you can hear the tone. 4:29 being one of them.
Hey man I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS I've been trying to learnt his thing since ei first heard it in 2012 when I started playing wow you're nuances and attention to feel on ty tabors underrated drop D good Ness and other riffs is truly unmatched! I have 2 requests : can you do a slow version of this song or tutorial of sorts?! Really been cracking my teeth on this riff but there's alot I still can't figure out ALSO HOW ABOUT A video of "sometimes" off of out of the silent planet the most underrated standard tuning ty tabor song it sound slime rush but way heavier! Surprised you haven't taken a crack at it already! Anyways let me know what you think man myself and all your fans would surely love to see those 2 videos I mentioned for sure love all your videos and hope to see more! Thank you and cheers from niagara falls Canada! - Adam
well the only way I describe them are:1st finger first fret d string-open g string-2nd finger 1st fret b string-pick stroke dwn, dwn, up. flip flop 1st and second fingers only u want yr 2nd finger at second fret of d string-pick stroke dwn dwn up. 3rd chord is simply placing 3rd finger at 3rd fret d string and keeping g open while keeping b string fretted at first fret with 1st finger and picking those 3 strings like a power chord so to speak.Lastly shift 1st and 3rd fingers a full step
Thanks much. Saw your message but didn't have time to respond. I'll give it a try. I just put up a cover of Mr Wilson too, maybe you could check it out,
It's been a couple years since I've posted this but if my memory serves me correctly it's 440 with drop D. Also wanted to thank u for all the wonderful, positive comments u have left. They are much appreciated. God Bless :)
The outro riff is one of the most beautiful moments in musical history.
ink It’s definitely up there in the top ten.
I'd have to put the outro to "We Were Born To Be Loved" right up there with it.
I'm just going to assume this is actually Ty unless I see this guy's face.
I believe that’s the best compliment I’ve ever gotten on here.
Thank you😊
The fact that you have done this is epic. This is one of the best albums ever written. Bang on.
Thank you Mark😊
@thescunion no worries. But damn it, I had to go and learn it on my 5 string bass. Sounds dirty.
Straight off of the best album ever recorded.
Shown here is a great sign of a great player.....He's not wrestling the guitar. He's playing smooth and fluent......One of the secrets of great players is that ability. He has it.
Well done
Thank you for the very kind words😊
I thought I would never see anyone nail this song down. ..but you did note for note..
Awesome. .
finally I have found other people who know ty tabor and kings x
Outstanding! Not just the tone, but the entire attitude is perfect.
Absolutely nailed it! You sir have done this song and the band proud. Kudos!
One of my favorite riffs of all time. Exceptional job sir.
They should call you if, god forbid, ty injures his hand or something. absolutely outstanding!
Pretty damn good man-this is probably my favorite song from these guys.
I fucking love this song soo much. Off my first kings x album i ever got, and has remained high in my heart.
Cool...nice job! I actually wrote the chorus music back in 1986 when Ty and I were living together and they used it on this. Those were some fun times....
Killer. Very nice. I have one of those L7 Lab Series and had no idea it could sound that awesome! :D
This gets cooler ever time I watch...and listen

So awesome... There about two thirds through the song I got to thinking, damn this song looks tiring to play. At the end I was exhausted having watched it. Your grunt at the end confirmed my beliefs! Bravo dude, superb job!
The grunt at the end always cracks me up. :-)
Oh man that ending was an excercise in bitchery.
*snicker*
A well-earned grunt indeed.

Excellent, sir. Tough song to play.
It sure is a great outro. It would be a great guitar exercise if there were tabs or a tutorial. Kings X! Oh man, I guess they are just too good for common folks.

adam martynek
I’ve been blessed to have Ty show me close up how he plays some of his tunes and there still a mystery to me
adam martynek
One thing he told me, Was that he always plays things the most difficult way I possible.
well the only way I describe them are:1st finger first fret d string-open g string-2nd finger 1st fret b string-pick stroke dwn, dwn, up. flip flop 1st and second fingers only u want yr 2nd finger at second fret of d string-pick stroke dwn dwn up. 3rd chord is simply placing 3rd finger at 3rd fret d string and keeping g open while keeping b string fretted at first fret with 1st finger and picking those 3 strings like a power chord so to speak.Lastly shift 1st and 3rd fingers a full step
insane!!
f****ng bombastic
Its Ty dont let m fool ya :P
well, that just kicked some major ass....
What are those chords you are arpegiating between each phrase of the verse?
jesus christ that ending
Very good playing. Are you in drop d tuning?
Danke Schoen :)
Thanks much. Saw your message but didn't have time to respond. I'll give it a try. I just put up a cover of Mr Wilson too, maybe you could check it out,

What is the tuning. .I assume it's drop D
It's been a couple years since I've posted this but if my memory serves me correctly it's 440 with drop D. Also wanted to thank u for all the wonderful, positive comments u have left. They are much appreciated. God Bless :)
Notice how his fingers mute the strings his isn't playing, the sign of a monster player...
It's almost as if Ty Tabor himself invented dissonance and chromaticism ..
Wow...... nice ..... apparently not a soul on the planet is aware of this vid...................
I'm sorry I don't. This is about as close to instructional as I have. Best of luck to you.
Sounds great man. Hope you're still out there jammin.
I am and thank you😊
