Thanks for the video - the look on Mr Reeves (a.k.a "The Shear Bolt Shearer") face at the Realtree camo metal was priceless - many years ago when selling Realtree and Mossy Oak camo products to the big box hunting stores I asked a buyer if they would be interested in camo socks as when worn they are usually hidden with shoes or boots - the buyer replied "Yes Of Course" as his customers wear camo to Church !! 😂

Ya'll, I'm so behind on your video's. I ran out of internet for about three weeks. We've gotta find a better internet service. I've missed watching your updates. Looks like you've been very busy! We had an outhouse when i was a kid. I remember if you had to get up in the middle of the night you ran as fast as you could and prayed not to step on a snake. Not sure if going out in the ice cold half asleep would be any better lol
Ha! You learn to go before bed real quick. And you get used to the cold. Just don’t forget the styrofoam seat!

Anticipation... I have been patiently waiting for this outhouse build but wasn't going to post anything until the weather was better. I have watched so, so many outhouse builds on TH-cam but I still am uncertain of the process. You would think it wouldn't be so difficult for me to figure out. I still have the original outhouse on my property so I am grandfathered in to have one. Unfortunately it is barely standing. I am also the queen of "free 99".So please, even though I may be the only one that would like detailed info on a outhouse build extra details would be greatly appreciated. Just a little back info on mine.....2 seater and a shed metal roof that I was hoping to salvage and use. You guys are the best and I admire your love and support for one another. I hesitate to say but I miss seeing the animals. I still choke up.
You are very sweet. Outhouses are made many different ways but all have 2 basic components: a hole in the ground and a small shed structure over the hole. We put cribbing in our hole so that the hole doesn’t collapse over time. You may have watched that video already, we did a pretty detailed explanation and video about that. Unfortunately, we’re not going to do an explicitly detailed video about how we construct the shed portion, because it’s a very long project. Basically, we are going to build a little shed with a deck and a roof, but build it with the construction knowledge of building a home. Because of Mr. Reeves knowledge as a contractor, this allows us to build a more complex outhouse than most people. But some people simply buy five pieces of plywood, four of them for walls, and one for a slanted roof. And then fashioned some sort of door. As we go along building, if you have specific questions, don’t be afraid to email us and that will be an appropriate place to answer your questions. Our email is in our about page. We miss Little Miss Daisy, for sure, but we’ll get the goats on the screen for you here pretty soon. 😊Be blessed friend.

I remember we had an outhouse at our house when I was a kid. My grandmother had one too and you better pray you didn’t have to go in the middle of the night because they lived at the end of the road and woods all around. It was spooky at night with no lights to be seen, just hope you didn’t step on a snake or those slimy snails.

Magic Metals is a great place to buy roofing. They can make lots of custom trim also. Are you going to insulate the outhouse? We built one at our cabin that’s insulated and a propane light heats it and also heats a 3” abs pipe for convection ventilation. Nothing beats having a warm outhouse in the morning.
They sure are great people. We won’t be insulating the outhouse. We want it light because we’re building it on skids. Our families remote cabin gas heat lamps in it and the switch for the lights are in the cabin. That rocks!

Siding place was so interesting. Don’t use the camo siding on anything you need to find in a hurry. I did like the all in one cap piece. Looked like it could cover my edges not being quite square. Now for something on the bottom edge, hmm.

So I had an Idea so if have a toilet and pump it down and outside on a 4-inch pipeline to an underground pit and deep one would that save time and be warmer than making an outhouse?
Couple issues. Renting an excavator at $600 a day to dig a hole is very expensive and can’t happen in the winter. Ha! What would power the pump, and who would clean the toilet without running water? It’s a great idea. But the outhouse is just a second bathroom for us. We have our composting toilet inside and that’s not likely to change. The outhouse will be mostly a summertime use building as well as bathroom “emergencies” in the winter. We’re not afraid of a cold out house. We’ve lived here a long time. It really doesn’t bother us. 💕 we are really looking forward to this simplicity of an outhouse.

Hey friend! It is possible as our property used to be an old river bed many, many moons ago. We are in a really great area for gold panning. The mountain we live on has lots of rivers that’s produce and has active gold claims/mines. 😊

@@lisanorris6518 They used to live 6 miles from us. Nice folks. Now they live in Tok in interior Alaska near the Canadian border. Gets about 10 degrees colder there in the winter but the interior has awesome summers. Optimal for gardening. 💕💕
