Campfire videos show the viewers the reality of living off grid in Alaska. Not everything is rainbows and unicorns. Some Alaskan TH-cam channels magically afford to buy new properties, new atvs, new tractors, new tools, new vehicles, new trailers etc, and having an open wallet approach to homesteading. This is not true Alaskan homesteading. Flat Tire Farm channel is truly a no BS channel and spot on realistic to how its like living in Alaska with this lifestyle. Commiserating from Palmer LOL. After my stroke, I spent 4 years in Idaho with my sister and her husband. For 6 months out of the year, we stayed at their primitive camp way up in the mountains. It's not for the weak or weary. Talk about cold showers! Our 'living room' consisted of chairs encircling a fire pit. I loved every minute of it. It was my rehab, learning how to walk those mountain trails. I would take a bunch of 5 gallon buckets in the 4-wheeler to fetch water. Anyway, I know what you mean. I enjoy campfires for sure. I also enjoy all your videos as well. Keep 'em coming as you can, I'll be watching when they are available. Love you guys and all the critters. Until next time, friends, stay well and God bless.

I enjoy any anf allof your videos!! The camp fire chats are at least a way for you to relax, yet we get an entertaining video! You are one of my favorite channels because you don't do everything with money! You use what you have, can mill or can find to get the job done. We have never had much money so either we couldn't afford new or just couldn't do a project due to lack of funds. So I enjoy your creativity, ingenuity or whatever you want to call it to build and make what you need. So you do you and keep the videos coming, please!! You accomplish plenty. Your happiness is more important than what others want you to do. Campfire chats? How did you come by 40 acres? How much of that is cleared? Rolling hills? Wet lands? Do you sell any of the farm meat and eggs? Why did you decide to be a vendor at a farmers market? Chats are good.

I get you on the temperature thing. I had a pituitary tumor that had to be partially removed, it killed the function of it, I was supposed to be cold sensitive, but I literally live in a desert. Heat has been the enemy. We hit 102 degrees in the spring. I can’t take that.

25:00 in 2009 when I was working in Fairbanks it was in the upper 90's and super smoky all summer long. It was awful lol.
Definitely! The smoke blocks the sun and makes for an ominous summer. Fairbanks can get so hot! And the smoke makes things so muggy. Be blessed friend.

Holy cow, you guys are busy! Love the campfire video. We've just been cutting, bucking, & chucking firewood so far this spring. Almost got the finished portion of the woodshed filled with birch😊. Gotta finish the 3rd section & fill that, then the next projects on "the list" begins...speaking of that list..Mr. Reeve, do you know of any good painters around? Got a balcony that needs a paint job and I'm not allowed to play with ladders😂, also a little inside painting too . Up in Talkeetna.

That’s a lovely idea friend. I did ship to a friend in BC recently. It was about $23 for a 2-3 pound package. Still really, very expensive. But as long as it’s less than 4 pounds it’s not horribly priced. I think there’s a lot of people that are our viewers where the price just put them out of being able to purchase the soap. I totally understand that. There’s lots and lots of ways to support our channel. Watching videos, making comments, and especially sharing videos. That helps our channel out tons and tons. We appreciate whatever kind of support you are willing to graciously give us. 💕💕

Well I live in Montana and we have not above 80 yet here it has been cold spring and summer has started out cooler and it make think of what dark winter we had one 2 years ago it got cold and with cloud cover we did not the sun for month and it sucked

Gosh, I didn't know you both worked pay jobs as well. Wow! Where do you find the time ⏲️.. just a small suggestion for you, know you have drainage for your grey water 💧 why not extend the flow to your garden via a long hose and a drum or water butt. If you have got to haul your water in grey water, it is ok for the garden, especially if you use organic soaps.
That’s a really great idea for reusing water. Unfortunately our garden is way too far away from our house. We don’t use enough water to even make it all the way to the garden. Ha! Most people use 40 to 50 gallons of water to take a single shower, we use 40 to 50 gallons of water in a week.Ha! And that would be a lot of groundwork for a little bit of gain. We’re hoping to put in a Sandpoint well at some point. We actually have all the equipment for it just at the time to install it.! Such as life be blessed, sweet friend.

I like campfire videos. I’m curious when the time comes, how will you get running water. A well or what.
It’ll be a long process. First, we have to save the money to get a well, then increase our solar system, which will be another huge chunk of change. I’m perfectly happy with the water system we have at least for a while. Maybe in the next 5 to 8 years will get a well. But I’m in no rush. We have our system set up pretty decent now. 💕 I think Mr. Reeve is in a little bit more of a rush to get a well that I am. But he’s the one that hauls all the water so that makes sense. 😊
