    This thing has an insanely good Vox AC30 and Fender Twin clean. I've owned both of those amps, and the models on the Ampero are exact replicas. Very impressed with it.

      Second that. The Vox and Fender amps are super impressive. And it's a blast mixing all the different amps up with different speakers and cabs for limitless possibilities. I can scroll through my Ampero for hours exploring and have barely scratched the surface yet of tonal options.

    A very professional, instructive and fair review that really focusses on the strong points of this unit! I own it together with some bigger processors and I am very satisfied with it. It has lots of great presets, amps and effects and sounds awesome. For this low price I think it's really a bargain.

    As a guitarist who has been playing for 14 years, who has used the axe fx2 live for 9 years, i LOVE my "upgrade" to the ampero. i have used it live for the past year and can not recommend it more. It fits into my gig bag front pocket with my guitar, along with my cables. What i found over time is that the main benefit of the axefx 2 is that people come up to you after your set and talk about gear. Regardless of what people wanna admit, they are swayed by high end pro gear. It creates an air of professionalism that the ampero doesn't bring. the benefit to the ampero though, is that i don't have to drag along a full size midi pedalboard to control the axefx, along with the 17lb unit itself. In terms of sound quality, if you are sporting third party irs, the ampero competes with the sound quality of the axe. The ampero definitely does have it's shortcomings though. I put up with them because i am particularly into the minimalist aspect of the ampero, since gear hauling is one of the banes of my music career. If anyone is interested in hearing about some of the shortcomings of the ampero in detail, message me! they mainly have to do with 1: midi programmability (which is pretty good, just limited in a specific way). 2: the unit trying to do everything, whe a more simple approach would be much more risk free (multi use buttons can lend to an accidental activation of the looper, and unwanted tone bank changes) and 3: the expression pedal is so small that it is not very useable, but the fact that it exists means that you can accidentally hit it and cut your guitar's volume, so in my opinion, it is a liability. I find these shortcomings to be worth it because of the convenience of such a tiny rig, the $300 used price tag means it can break or get stolen without much of a setback. you can buy two backups to this thing for the price of one used axe fx2+ compatible floor board

    • @knowknows7919
      @knowknows7919 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm interested in this thing. What exactly do the leftmost three foot switches do? I am hoping to be able to have a given preset, then add more effects to it by switching them. This video shows the Ctrl switch being used for that though it seems to be more about switching between two sub presets...

    • @simonchesney3911
      @simonchesney3911 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@knowknows7919 yeah the left three footswitches change to whatever tone you want to program in. you can change this though. for example, you can have one preset on the left most switch, and change the function of the other buttons to turn certain effects on or off. so it could work like a mini pedalboard with built in amp and cab sims

    Excellent unit. Been using mine as a more portable back-up/alternative to the Helix.
    Not as much flexibility as the Helix but it's a fraction of the price - the sound quality is superb though. Really really impressive, and the fact you can run 1 output to a power amp without cab sims, whilst running the other with cab sims to FOH is invaluable for me.

They would ask, "What are you using? It sounds good!" And they couldn't believe it when I showed them the G3X. Anyways, I finally decided to upgrade to HotOne Ampero. So many processors are terrible. Most guitarists don't want to have a degree in programming just to have usable sounds. In a studio processors might work well but on stage besides fighting tone you will also have to deal with a single board where if one thing goes bad the entire board might be unusable. Pedals like these were supposed to be the answer to expensive heavy equipment and while the price has went up on processors I don't feel the quality really has so much compared to analog amps back in the day. Not everyone can carry heavy equipment I get that but telling a drummer they have to hit lighter because the solid state loses head room is a different issue. When hitting the front of an amp these signals will distort the amps preamp and they aren't much better on effects return. My solution is to save money and buy a mesa,marshall,or any other dependable amp that already does what it's supposed to do and use individual pedals so if one breaks the rest still work. Again while these might be good for studios or someone using in ears it doesn't work well for most of us but they target guitarists telling us it can replace a good live rig. These are just my opinions but I have been playing live for years and have fought these issues and had to learn the hard way.

      So true in all aspects. These things are great at 1st, then the problems start and you have to carry backup gear.

      I disagree, and have owned Fender, Marshall and Vox amps. I’ve used an old Boss GT8 processor for years playing in cover bands. I can plug straight into the board and get almost the same tones as a tube amp, and have never had any problems. In my experience, Multi-effect units are a good alternative to the tube amp/pedal board.

    My only concern is the amount of Amp hiss you get from the Hi Gain Overdriven tones even with the Noise Gate employed. As you let a chord ring out the amount of hiss is unbelievable, so say after recording a song at the end as it fades out all your left is hiss which no amount of Noise Gate can eliminate until the threshold gets to the point were it kicks in...really useless from a recording point of view. Thinking of selling mine. I know you get hiss/buzz from real Amps but come on seriously..

    Yet another menu upon sub menu upon sub menu all-in-one with multi-function dials, a tiny "expression" pedal, all requiring more study than it could possibly be worth. Buy a 50 watt Marshall head, or a Bassman, or either a Vox AC 15 or 30. Get a tube screamer if you must, reverb, delay, chorus if you use them. Get your guitar, plug in and play. And play some more.
    This thing will be in the multi effects graveyard soon enough, where it can join the legion of its deceased antecedents.

      Otis Reverb then buzz on off out of the video for it, bro; no one’s forcing you to be here. I realize that not everyone is smart, but since they all started getting screens, these things are all easy as hell to figure out. It’s not like the 1990’s Digitech where the effects all had two digit code numbers you had to figure out. If you know how to set up a pedalboard, you can set the virtual ones in these devices. “Everyone should like what I like.” You don’t like multieffects pedals? Cool. Enjoy your 50 watt Marshall head with my blessing, bro. Stop telling everybody else what they should do. I don’t buy these things for their resale value, I buy them because they’re fun and useful, and with a little bit of thought I can sound like almost anything. And I’m more than happy to buy a new one in less than a decade for another couple of hundred bucks because it will be smaller or lighter or brighter, or have more features.

      I was the same way until I got a Helix. I still have my tube amps but the Helix through the powercab sounds just as good and is easier and more consistent for gigs. I did the sound test in my music room with my tube amps and the Helix. I just looked down at the Helix and thought wow..... They did it. It will be the amps that go to the graveyard. Not mine. I will keep my amps but I rarely play them. Oh and I always get guitar players coming up at the gig to see what I'm using. It usually goes "I can't believe how good that thing sounds"

      Dude what do you mean? The Ampero has a looper and while you can use it with an actual amp, that’s just turning the Ampero into a digital pedal which it’s not. Even though it can be done
