  • This is a video repost from 2018. I had deleted the video recently because I thought the video had incorrect valve spec information, but it didn't. So I've added some footage from the manual, made a few items clearer as to how to get the engine to TDC and a tip if your Brute Force should backfire even after the valves are adjusted.

      There is a free service manual you can get for the Brute Force, I can't recall the intake/exhaust. Google service manual and it will have it in there. We sold the Brute last year.

    Which way do I turn the nut on the stator? Clockwise or counter

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Believe I did it clockwise so I could count the strokes to get to know I was on the compression stroke

      A commenter said I gave incorrect information so I deleted the video, it had like 7,000 views... then I watched the video and it was just what I typed up for youtube that was wrong. Oh well. lol

      We sold it yesterday. It's a lot of work, there is a lot packed into a small space.

    My 07 model 750 has the recoil pull starter rope (I know, good luck starting it with that!) ... I'm wondering if I can use that to line up on top dead center instead of removing and using the socket. I've never removed it so I don't know if there is a spring that will immediately fly out of there.

      You can use the pull rope and with both plugs out shouldn't be hard to pull. But accurately pulling and looking in that hole to get it where the manual needs to be, I couldn't do it. Nothing is under that cap, so no spring or anything. But, ours did have a mud/water line so we knew our seal was bad and water was getting in there, so we scraped off the old and used rtv sealant. We sold the Brute back in June, it was in need of a rebuild, at least a top end. My son bought a Can Am 1000 Outlander, too fast for me. thanks for the comment.

      I start mine with the pull cord regularly. Just gotta make sure she’s rolled up on TDC before you start yanking or when it gets there it’ll tear the rope out of your hands!!!

    How often and when should you check your valve adjustment

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Taylor, I checked the manual, I still had one saved as a pdf. For a 2009 with FI, first 100 miles they should be inspected and then after each 200 miles. I think every 200 miles tearing apart the atv just to get to those caps, is way too often but it's in the manual so it must need it. You can get a free service manual online for the BF, they are very detailed and necessary to know what to do. We sold the BF in June. I have a 2014 Can Am 650 and my son now rides a '17 Can Am 1000, both Outlanders.

    So after you finish adjusting the valves going counter clockwise. You have to go clockwise and put it dead-end center and now you can torn it on?
