Yeah where are the Indians and especially Asians to ask their opinion of affirmative action? It was in fact the Asian community that took on the lawsuit but we haven’t heard a single peep from them because it doesn’t fit the agenda.
it’s 2023 and they are advocating for race based discrimination. Why do you want Asians and Indians to be discriminated against because they do well in school? Don’t you think it’s demeaning to blacks and Hispanics to be told that you’re not as good as everyone else and the scale Hass to be tipped in your favor for you to be able to do as well as others? Affirmative action doesn’t help anyone. It is absolutely racist and discriminatory towards whites, Indians, and Asians and it’s incredibly demeaning to blacks and Hispanics that feel inferior and told they are not as smart as the white kids. If someone is not qualified to get into a school or even a job, why would you ignore meritocracy and accept their application into a school where they will fail after wasting years of time and tens of thousands of dollars in debt? Why should someone be discriminated against because they were born of the “wrong color” or ethnicity? And why should an actually qualified black or Hispanic person feel inferior and question their own competence wondering if they really belong there or if they were an inclusion and diversity hire? It literally hurts everyone and it’s race-based discrimination I don’t understand how anyone supports it 🤦🏾‍♀️🤡🤡

Most Americans support a ban on making ethnicity a factor in college admissions. SCOTUS agreed, but allowed students to talk about how their ethnicity affected them. I'd say SCOTUS should've been clear that u must PROVE how it affected u, n to be fair, should allow u to mention how your health, poverty, lack of connections or "legacy" status, or your ugliness or weakness n being bullied, affected u. each person's life has more or less fortune n hardships, n we can't assume based on color.
If u want diversity, then youre against merit. in that case, u can seek diverse classes n guests. I’m 60 years old. My family was riding the line of poverty all my life. My dad worked hard and paid every dime of my college tuition. I probably was barely accepted at a small university since I had B/C average in high school. AA students sat in the same high school classes I was in. I went on to teach Caucasian, AA, and Hispanic kids for 30 yrs. Never once saw a single child be treated differently or taught differently because of their ethnicity. If anything, those struggling were offered special assistance or extra one on one time with instructions. You can lead a horse to water but…..

An overlooked point is the fact that in places like California, minority college graduation rates went UP after AA was banned. Affirmative Action often forced black students up the educational food chain to schools where they couldn't handle the work. The kid who would do well at UCLA gets bumped up to Stanford or Berkeley, the UCal kid ends up at UCLA, Cal State......etc. Instead of being "mis-matched" ( a great book on affirmative action written by two liberals) more minority students found their niche where they could be successful.

In fact, over 70% of blacks admitted to Harvard are from rich families. Many Asians are from poor families and helpless. In NYC, Asians have one of the highest poverty rates. Until 2 years ago, they were the highest. Asians still invested the little money they had into their children's education.
The former mayor, Mayor DeBlasio still wanted to penalize Asians in public school admissions and funding despite the high poverty rate.

why now, people were recognized for skin color for 300 years and denied food, housing, land, education and every luxury that people took for granite, why stop recognizing now. We tried it with recognition and without recognition and the results are still the same. When you get a job offer based on your resume and a phone interview and then you arrive and they realize you are black, the offer is withdrawn. So yeah fuck it. It's happened to me too many times. I have two advanced degrees, I have worked hard and done everything right, but the minute they realize I'm black its like day and night. I've had a CEO say to me in an interview "Oh Your Black", then left the room, I knew the interview was over. White people will never understand the horrors of being denied just because of skin color.

"White people" get judged and oppressed more than any other group in modern society lol... I'm bad because I'm white? No... If you have a problem with me being white then that's a "you" problem, it's not my fault I was born white and you was raised to be racist to my people. Blacks have much better job opportunities than whites JUST because they are black, they have better access to governmental aid, school etc. And that isn't equality... Equality is being able to have the same opportunities as everyone else... But businesses are "required" to be diverse... Which means if a white man applies with a fantastic resume and a black man does and doesn't have a great track record, he gets the job by default so the background of the business can have more contrast... That's not equality and isn't fair lol.
And if a CEO did actually say "oh you're black" and walk out... I'm sure there's more than enough that can be done to adjust their attitude legally... If that happens to a white man and it does in every single aspect of our lives, people think we are supposed to live with it... We don't and won't and are starting to get sick of being labeled bad just because we exist, just because we are tolerant doesn't mean we won't stand up for ourselves eventually... We are human too and have earned every right we have just like every other race.

Do you think this kind of legacy admission happens less than the admission of a black son of two attorneys through race conscious affirmative action? Keep in mind that only 5% of attorneys in the United States are black and that colleges have been spitting out white attorneys (76% of attorneys are white) since the inception of this country when blacks were slaves, it was illegal for blacks to be educated, and various affirmative action programs have been continuously instituted, by both the government and private institutions, to elevate whites while oppressing blacks. Every day America creates programs to assist whites, especially wealthy ones, while curtailing programs to assist minorities, especially blacks. Let's be honest: America has a serious, persistent anti-black problem.

Do you want to discuss fairness? Black and Brown students often face different upbringings compared to their white counterparts. Many of us come from underfunded schools without local libraries and limited SAT preparation resources. It's challenging to compete with privileged kids who have attended private schools since an early age, whose parents can afford tutors and extracurricular activities to enhance their resumes. It's important to acknowledge that America has rarely been fair or equal for everyone. If race truly doesn't matter, we should consider removing it as a factor in job applications, loans, and mortgages. Y. It's a misconception to believe that prestigious universities like Harvard admit minority students with low GPAs. In reality, Black and Brown students often have comparable GPAs and SAT scores to their white counterparts. If a Black or Brown student gets into med school, their race won't help them pass a test. However, they do deserve a fair chance to demonstrate their capabilities and have equal opportunities. Society often overlooks us, and only a small percentage of us manage to succeed. By neglecting diversity, we undermine the richness that different perspectives bring to college campuses. It's worth noting that historically, Black people had to establish their own educational institutions to pursue higher education, which contributes to the dominance of primarily white institutions today.

However their parents are surgeons and have the money though leave very humbly . Interesting that we all live on the same street, went to same schools. All of us parents grew up together and we even lived in the same neighborhoods most of our lives before marriage and kids. Our other older child (my stepchild ) who is black(wife is black and her prior husband black) received a scholarship 2 years ago to the same college our other child who is not black (from prior marriage I was a widower when I met my current wife) did not get a scholarship. The only difference was the color of their skin. Our child who did not get a scholarship was because of the skin color so nothing to do if the child had a hard ship in life or did not. All should be equal for all or it is not. Our neighbor child is black/asian.
Grateful for our neighbors , but disappointment for sure that our child did not get any financial help or scholarships suffers because of skin color. Losing his mother to cancer and the even having my child go through cancer and survive and still be as academically as successful as any other hard working successful student in the nation. Just not okay. Our child fights discrimination everyday, depression, anxiety because of a physical disability from cancer.
