I finished watching the whole video and I can tell this is by far the best video about the Monument Valley. When I visit this place I am definetely going to rewatch to make sure I make the most out of my journey. Thank you.
I have been to all of the National parks in Utah. The best place in all of Utah is not a National Park but a National Monument located in Bluff/ Blanding Utah. I'll take Bears Ears National Monument over most of the National parks in America. Everything is pretty much off road. You need a high clearance vehicle 4WD really helps out. Sometimes the off road drive to the trailhead is longer than the hike.
This is my favorite area in the whole USA! And possibly my favorite spot ever is up on top of the Moki Dugway. I stumbled on it while driving around (before GPS technology) without any kind of itinerary and was smitten when I got to the top. I can't wait to go back again!
The Dugway is a nice WOW! Spot. Btw- I’m putting out a new guide on the Parks of New Mexico’s Rio Grande Rift. I just put up the intro and a white sands episode will be up tomorrow
Great video, one of the best I have seen, I’m just trying to put together a trip for a vacation around Utah and this video help me a lot. Thanks for a great work
The South West is my very favourite area. I've hiked, camped (tent) and climbed throughout this awesome place over many years. The first time, 1992 until 2012. Oldtimer Englishman from Shropshire.
@@TheWestisBig agree, that's why I won't return. Some towns with great character and history have been commercialised beyond redemption. No longer worthy of the effort to revisit.
You might want to check out my Road Less traveled series. It covers places with fewer crowds that r still worth visiting. I’m also finishing up a 90 minute show on New Mexico’s parks. Interesting stuff less people.
Man, this is GOLD! This is exactly my kind of traveling and exactly the kind of places I am looking for. I am in the middle of planning a big roadtrip across the West this summer, so I am going to use a lot of your tips! 😉👍
I want to be this guy’s travel companion! One of my favorite things to see in that area is a supercharged electrical storm. We just happened to be on top of a Mesa above the Navajo Bridge when a huge storm rolled in. It was absolutely beautiful!
The West is Big! Travel Guides Absolutely! I live in the beautiful mountains of Virginia, however, I love all of America and it has been my mission in life to see as much of it as possible. I particularly love the southwestern deserts, red rock landscapes, and rugged mountains. I have a few Native American friends that I try to visit as often as possible in Monument Valley. I am a singer/songwriter/author and that is how I discovered the northwest, which I can never see often enough. I am currently trying to talk my son into a trip that way very soon. I want to see Crater Lake... once more. He makes a great traveling companion. Like me, he enjoys solitude among raw nature and the history of the people native to these mesmerizing places. A few years back, I invited a teaching colleague of mine to trek west with us. One of our stops was the Grand Canyon. Personally, I could remain in one place overlooking the canyon all day and be totally content. It’s beautiful to watch the changes in the canyon as the sun or storm moves across it. So, I was disappointed when she couldn’t see what I saw or make that spiritual connection. I had no words for her when she said,” This is it?” Seriously, not all people connect with nature. I am free to travel, but my son can’t always go. I’m hoping he will find a few free week very soon. I really enjoy your videos. You’ve identified places that I’ve not seen. Who knows, perhaps I will find a sponsor and like you, show others what they’re missing. You do a wonderful job. Take care and don’t feed the bears 🐻
Thanks for watching. Crater lake is on my list too. I'm in the early idea stage of a Cascades video that will include Rainier, St. Helens and Cascades NP and lesser know hiking spots up there that I've been to. BTW- my 90+ min Glacier NP vid is pretty good. You may also like my Native American Builder's video. It includes Chaco Culture, Hovenweep and even Cohokia.
The West is Big! Travel Guides ... Sounds like another great adventure awaits you. Have you ever been to Crater Lake. I can’t imagine that you haven’t. It is one of the most beautiful spots in nature that I have ever seen. It literally makes me dizzy. I’m not fond of heights. Standing high above it on the rim on a bright sunny day can really trick my senses. When looking down into it, the reflection of the sky above is so perfect that it makes me feel as if I could easily “fall up.” It’s so neat how the sky above becomes the sky below. In a couple of pictures I took, I incorporated the bough of a nearby pine as I shot down into the lake. When people see the photo, they believe the shot is from the ground through a tree to the sky. That place is so mysterious... and for more reasons than one. I’ve taken the road from Medford, Oregon to the lake a couple of times, but I really want to take the road from Bend to the lake. I’ve heard it’s a beautiful drive. I will be watching for your cascades video. Can’t wait to see that. It’s a pleasure chatting with you. Take care. Delilah
This is the second video of yours I have watched and saved! VERY informative! I am doing a solo 3 week photography road trip to Southern Utah late September. More importantly, I was happy to hear you drove a Subaru on this trip! That's what I have rented hoping it would serve me well. Hello Sir, thanks for sharing all this extra info. I'm planning a road trip for my 2 sons and myself in spring. Flying into Salt Lake city fro PA, then drive to Moab , Canyonlands then Monument Valley and just south into Kayenta AZ, then east on 160 to Shiprock NM , then north to Mesa Verde ruins , stay in Durango, then up to Silverton to Ouray and Montrose, CO ...then east on 50 to Colorado Springs where i was stationed at Ft Carson back in 1988 . Great video !

The first time I went through there was no sign at Forest Gump Point! Google Maps didn’t even have it located. But you’ve given me a couple new places to check out on my next trip this year. Thanks.
Thanks for commenting! 4 corners creates that reaction- blah. Yeah the Navajo are turning a profit where ever they can find it- including Forest gump point. fyi- others have commented Mon valley fees have risen dramatically!

Back in the day it was just a survey marker and a few ad hoc vendors to support the indigenous folks. Heed your warning about such spots becoming too popular - get out there while the getting is good.

@@TheWestisBig There probably aren't road reports but I'm going in June so I'll watch weather reports. I assume if there's something impassable I can just turn around. I have a Subaru Legacy.
There is a new rule in Monument Valley you will have to hire a guide that will set you back at least $500 if you want to take a photo of a sunrise or sunset. Hours for taking a photo are between 1p.m. and 5p.m. when the light is horrible. Just keep that in mind before you go there, you are not going to get that amazing photo that everyone wants.
cell service is sketchy with AT&T. near the highways I didn't have a problem most of the time. But having a paper map is a good idea because your map app maynot work. I missed a several turns morethan once because I didn't know I lost cell signal
Well, There is very little traffic on that road. 1 car every few minutes is normal. So its very safe. Also, if you've seen the movie you know the famous shot in the movie was taken from the center of the road. It is quite safe.
