My mother and I took our 3 man tent and stayed at Gouldings Good Sam campground back in the late 80s. We had THE most beautiful view of those mountains. The sunset was fantastic. It was just like the scene from John Fords westerns. Thanks for the memories.💖
Nice video Russ. My grandfather was a sound and lighting camera assistant for the filming of Stagecoach in 1939 in Monument Valley. He worked for Universal Studios in sound and lighting after that up until his death in 1954. Our family has many pictures and stories about those wild days.
Memories, memories ... I must have visited Monument Valley 5 or 6 times over the years and it was always a "monumental" event. I slept in the campground a couple of times between 1980 and 1998. When I visited in 2013 after 15 years without going, the Navajos had built a new Hotel where the campground was. The Mittens are a marvelous sight at sunrise during the summer. I saw a moonrise once and the light was extraordinary, red Earth and cerulean-blue Sky and so quiet. Once I had bought delicious, ripe Arizona peaches and a male sheep attacked me to steal my peach ... lol! The Valley is always beautiful to visit. Thanks for your awesome video, Russ. RICHARD
Was on a trans-America motorcycle trip 35 years ago, but bypassed this area worrying about lack of petrol stations. Now I see yuck Donald's and roundabouts., and litter. I'd loved to seen it back when the westerns were being filmed. Sometimes the present isn't as good as the past. Glad for the ride-a-long. Still a beautiful area of this wonderful country. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
I have lived in Utah for all of my life and i am glad i got to see so many places before all the crowds showed up. It's absolutely gorgeous. I love so many places in this world, but Utah is my home. Thanks for the video. Buy some Pinenuts!
I visited there last year and also took the 17mile road through the Valley of the Gods. AMAZING! It has lots of free camping. At the end is the Moki Dugway. A switchback road you will never forget driving up!
Thanks, I needed my fix of the west and Monument Valley and southern Utah in particular is a favorite of mine. I have missed it the past 3 years but will return there in 2023. Look forward to you continuing north to Moab.
Hi Russ. I drove up through there way back in 1993. But still, it's so good to watch your video and see how much of my memory is triggered. I'm a little saddened about how much I've forgotten as far as the scenery goes. I was self driving, so a lot of my attention was about keeping an eye on the road in front of me. But this is the real value of your videos. We get to travel the road again. It's much appreciated.
This was on my list in March 2020 when the Canadian border got closed and I had 10 days to get out of dodge before my travel insurance expired??? Also wanted to get to Page, Hopi cultural centre, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas before heading north! All still on my bucket list for another year!
Hello Russ! Blue sky, puffy white clouds, against the reds & brown just enhances the beauty surrounding the KOA. Looks like a relaxing campground. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
Beautiful scenery. Been through Monument Valley a few times. Last time we went on to the Four Corners Monument. That place has sure changed too. It's gone from a little marker in the desert to a fancy plaza. From there we went on to Mesa Verde National Park. Interesting part of the country.
Went here coming South from Moab opposite of the direction in this video. Checked in at Gouldings. Found our spot for our rented Class A. It was in an enclosed canyon with no view. Immediately checked out with a refund which was given no problem. Went across the two lane highway to the Navaho place called "The View". Now we had a place with a view. What a view!
Beautiful and excellent video Russ , in 2019 we were in that area and really we enjoy the trip, are going to Moki Douky? It’s a real mountain with a magnificent view , next 2023 March we are going to finish our trip, Moab it’s different town and very interesting , thanks Russ from Puerto Rico
Hey Russ! Been there three times and still want to go back. Love your video. If my mind serves me right, there was a Burger King at the 163 turn off that housed a memorial to the code talkers and had some captured WW2 Japanese artifacts. Another place for a good view of Monument Valley is Mulie Point around Mexican Hat. You'd have to go up Moki Dugway to get to it.
Absolutely brilliant place Russ ,stayed at Goulding lodge. Got up early to look at sunrise come up .lovely photos of right and left mit at monument valley with sun coming up behind .then done Navajo tour .breathtaking scenery. Then finished off in a navajo diner for mutton stew . Great Experience.👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Just drove that same way you did, except I was going south. Not sure why you sat on this beautiful video! You will not have a hard time finding where Forest Gump was filmed, it is clearly marked, but I am not going to give anything away. Thanks Russ
EPIC VIDEO! Definitely got this place on my bucket list. The area reminds me of something you might see on Mars with the red dirt and formations. Can't wait for the next video! GREAT JOB! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! 👍👍
Really boss ride, Russ. I saw some of those mountains and spires way back in the 1990's as well. It's a really cool site to see. Thanks for the heads up on the RV rentals. Yes, gas must still be an issue in the southwest.
Haha Can't stop watching your videos after u popping up yesterday 'cheers from sydney nsw. @ 6:30 Heir in new south wales iv been noticing after the lock-down's so many ppl renting the little renal holiday Van's heir also n even bigger like small RV's not to mention the explosion in camper vans large or small, i witnessed it wit my own eyes, just couldn't believe it especially for a small country town in nsw not to mention many new companies renting them out wat iv not seen before n before u could get on a plane 'thats when it truly was at its peak n i had never seen anything like it ever heir in Australia.
Hi Russ. Lucy from Minnesota. I have a question for you. What dashcam camera do you use. I am in the market for one. I don't want expensive, but decent quality. I am trailering a 24' camper and I'm new to camping in a trailer. I really like your videos. Thank you
Nice road trip Russ...but you missed stopping at Goulding's Trading Post Museum.: John Wayne's Cabin from filming of "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon" (Goulding's is just a couple clicks west of that KOA you stayed at) The museum exhibits much from the many movies filmed right there in the Valley. Be sure and stop on your next trip through.....Also the main Valley Welcome Center just a click East of that KOA....
I really enjoyed staying there a couple of years ago, but in a hotel. will you please let me know the RV site you stayed, next time I'd like to spend some days at this RV site. thanks
Valley of the Gods is almost as beautiful as Monument Valley and you get a beautiful view of it atop the Moki Dugway. Also BLM land. One day it will change but for now you can drive into it and camp and pay nothing,
Hey Hey Hello RVerTV Russ, Great to be out today with you my Friend. To Cool For School. YEA 👍
Love your channel. I watch it all the time!
My favorite place , Russ. I really enjoyed the John Wayne Cabin at Gholdings.

I visited there last year and also took the 17mile road through the Valley of the Gods. AMAZING! It has lots of free camping. At the end is the Moki Dugway. A switchback road you will never forget driving up!
Absolutely one of our favorite drives we have ever taken. We can't wait to go back and do it again in a few years!
The land is for looking only☮️🌵🙂I was there last September. The best part of the trip.
Brings back memories of when I was a geology major crawling all over that country in the late 70s. Need to go back. Thanks Russ
That's beautiful country. Look out for those flash floods racing across the roads.
What a gorgeous scenery!! One day, I'd like to travel that way and see the monuments for myself.
Thanks, I needed my fix of the west and Monument Valley and southern Utah in particular is a favorite of mine. I have missed it the past 3 years but will return there in 2023. Look forward to you continuing north to Moab.

Videos are so enjoyable, I appreciate you letting us go along with you!
So beautiful. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
My family went through there in July
Just absolutely beautiful
Sir, you had the best weather to be in Monument Valley. I'll take cloudy Grey skies over sunny cloudless days.
exciting ride, views along the way in Utah's Monument Valley. very extraordinary landscape in Utah 17.16

Glad I got to see this video. I live 2 hours away from this area and have never been there.
Great scenery, Russ! Well done!
Have enjoyed watching your TH-cam videos about Monument Valley & other areas in Utah. Thank you!
Hello Russ! Blue sky, puffy white clouds, against the reds & brown just enhances the beauty surrounding the KOA. Looks like a relaxing campground. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
beautiful location. I have to say that for someone as old as I am, this is the first time I have seen speed bumps in a rock/gravel lot of any kind.
We were at MV in November of 1992. They had the first snowstorm. Looked like you reach out and touch the clouds !
Beautiful scenery. Been through Monument Valley a few times. Last time we went on to the Four Corners Monument. That place has sure changed too. It's gone from a little marker in the desert to a fancy plaza. From there we went on to Mesa Verde National Park. Interesting part of the country.

Magnificent area. I visited in 2016, staying at the Weatherall Inn in Kayenta.
A bucket list item for me.
Hi Russ, one of the most beautiful routes we missed in March 2019! Snow was the interrupter! thanks for sharing! Greetings from The Netherlands
That's a beautiful drive. Nice drone footage. Definitely a great view from the campground. Happy Thanksgiving!! 🙂👍

Russ, we went in May 2016, and it had been raining before we arrived. The truck was covered with inches thick red mud after we drove through lol

I really like your videos. Thank you
i assume you are recording 4k. your video is amazing. perhaps high frame rate. thanks for sharing!
Hey Russ!🙋♀️ Beautiful colors. It's like a completely different world for those of us accustomed to trees and grass. Thanks!
🍁🍂Happy Thanksgiving!🍂🍁🧡
Cant wait to get back out there to see the ancient tree stumps again in the Spring of 2023.
We are heading there in May, if all goes well.
Been to MV. Great video. Please mention camp fees and facilities. Water, electric , bath, if any. Also, mobile phone signal strength.

Red dirt and white snow makes PINK mud.
So, did you register all of us that were waiting in the van at the Koa..... 😇
Happy Thanksgiving
I really enjoyed staying there a couple of years ago, but in a hotel. will you please let me know the RV site you stayed, next time I'd like to spend some days at this RV site. thanks
Will do!
Have you RVed to all of the lower 48, or where have you missed?
I love the name MOAB. During the Desert Storm war in the early 90s, it meant Mother Of All Bombs.
Wow, so many of these traveling TH-camrs, don't know what to watch, so many going to the same places, beautiful country though
John Ford and John Wayne made quite a number of movies in Monument Valley.
If you drive up the Mochie dugway to Mulie Point, it's BLM and you have a great view of the valley.
Valley of the Gods is almost as beautiful as Monument Valley and you get a beautiful view of it atop the Moki Dugway. Also BLM land. One day it will change but for now you can drive into it and camp and pay nothing,
It's crazy to think how long it took to carve out those monuments by people with just simple tools..
Didn’t Forest Gump end his run in MV? I knew it.
Alec Baldwin is to finish the movie ''RUST'' in this area
YAY!!!! IT'S RUSS!!!
It's already been 20+ years since I was there.
Someone mentioned some campgrounds closing to 'force' people to stay in the $$$ motel on the Rez?
i saw all those in western movies back in the 1950 s
Hello! Quick question? Does driving through require a permit?
no permit free to travel
❤❤
No tree's no rest area stops
Wow! Do they really get snow?
yes haha
