  • Do you experience shoulder pain when performing a shoulder press?
    In this video we look at how to prevent shoulder pain during shoulder press? There are certain movement patterers that might be great for body builders and muscle development which are not as functional as other movement patterns. In this video we look at a couple of shoulder press positions and look at what might be better for someone experiencing shoulder pain when lifting.
    When walking into a gym many people look at the movement and feel it is quite simple… But are you placing your shoulder at an unnecessary risk of shoulder impingement more commonly called sub acromial impingement, bursitis or tendinopathy
    The first enable is of a dumbbell shoulder press performed on an incline bench or unsupported. For the general population we don’t often like this position due to the shoulders position and the pattern it is generating power. The reason being is we rarely press objects over our head in this fashion.
    Rather we prefer the mine press variations as the plane of movement is far more favourable and a pattern we use on a daily basis. Just think back to when you have pressed your carry luggage into the overhead locker on a plane…
    Obviously there are some benefits to Michele activation of the other exercise but we feel this should be left to the body builders amongst us.

    hi there, ive had wrist/finger pain for over a year now, i think it has to do with my being at a keyboard a lot. I've tried to take breaks but I work as a programmer so it's tough. Do you think a wrist compression band or something might help ?

      Thanks Dom unfortunately it’s really hard to know if it would help or not. As that type of pain could be caused by a number of things. Sorry not to be much help
