    Another useful tip: Start your day with a simple planned task which can be completed with ease. This will jumpstart your activity level and will pave the way for a productive day. If you start your work day with staring at social media, watching clips etc, the day becomes wasted...

    I can't express how much your videos have helped me. I feel like I'm slightly more in control of my life every day. I've been meal prepping and not only do I feel healthier, I have saved a TON of money. Here in South Africa the majority of the ingredients in your meal prep videos are pretty much always in season and so affordable. The chicken/roast veg/rice meal prep video costs me R270 for a week, so around 17 dollars US for an entire week! Thank you so much.

    I so love your stuff it has changed my life so far. I have had MS for a long time. I’ve been in and out of remission. My last appointment, with the neurologist, I found out I also have Lupus now.
    So, finding your website, TH-cam etc. Has truly changed my life. I’ve started following your “anti-inflammatory” preps etc. It’s been about 2 weeks now, and I am no longer in Lupus flare. I am so thankful.

    One thing I've started doing recently is growing a variety of herbs and using them for making teas - either iced or hot. They taste so much better then the store bought tea bags. Lemon Balm and Peppermint are my current favorites, Herbs are a powerhouse of nutrition and some of the easiest plants to grow in pots either inside or on a porch.

    We’ve all returned back into bad habits leading up to Christmas. Hence we’ve had to take drastic action to get back control. Cleaned out the fridge/pantry of stuff and refilled it with healthier things. Decided to do two yoga poses every night before bed (I’ve been good but could do better!). Going back to swimming several times a week and return to routine. It’s funny how routine actually helps to get things back on track! This year I’m going to try to meal prep a bit more.

    Love your tips and your site. Here are perhaps 3 more healthy tips:
    13. Avoid eating and drinking anything with added sugars, especially fructose. Any drinks with lots of sugar in them should be avoided. Drinks with fake sweets are also at least just as bad. Fructose provided with fiber in fruits, especially berries, in moderation is much better than the corn syrup variety.
    14. Skip breakfast altogether, or put it off until later. I was a big breakfast eater as soon as I got up. I pushed if off until later and then skipped it altogether. Now, I don't loose any energy and I feel better and more vigorized. I'd still drink the water and/or apple cidar vinegar, though, when getting up. Our bodies were designed to go through periods of eating and noneating. If you are going to eat breakfast, your tip for a colorful one away from simple carbs is spot on. Chia can be your friend.
    15. Avoid snacking during the day. If you choose to snack your video is spot on for healthy choices. The main way to avoid insulin resistance is to lower it between meals and a longer period of not eating overnight is even better. Find out about autophagy.
    Just as Lisa said, one size does not fit all. Perhaps the biggest health issue facing most Americans is Type 2 diabetes and the associated metabolic syndrome and heart issues which is ultimately caused by what we eat (too many sugars) and how often we put it into our bodies.
    All of your tips are spot on for a healthier year and a longer, healthier life. Chocolate is definitely a downfall of mine, too. I have easily gotten used to about 85% Cacao. Lisa, thank you for your tips and insights.

    I am so happy I found your page! I am 52 and have been a active person all my life. Back in late July I woke with my hands so swollen I couldn’t make a fist. I thought this was brought on by a hard CrossFit workout but the symptoms only grew worse and worse....traveling to my wrists, arms, shoulders, biceps and now my right knee. Long story short...my RA number is at 64...this isn’t good. They believe I have an autoimmune disease. I have been tested for Lymes twice, both negative. Your videos are helping me to analyze my food choices as well as a way to try and get my life back without the debilitating pain and inflammation. I haven’t watched all your videos yet but I’m working on it! Thank you for the great information!

    Wow, you are really encouraging me in a good way! I eat healthily but the same thing all the time, chicken veggies soup, quinoa with beets, oatmeal with plain yogurt and fruit. Made my second smoothie thanks to you, Lisa. Works so much better when you know what you are doing. I love your calm, peaceful, healthy and cheerful, encouraging voice. Actually being transparent/congruent and incorporating diet with exercise, sleep, stress management and mother nature! x0

    Thank you for putting so much work into these videos. I really love them and even though I know all these things (as you mentioned here), doing it is key. And I really struggle to be the best version of myself. I loooove meditating, but then I am always busy when my alarm reminds me to meditate. So I skip it. I don't want to sleep alone and my partner stays up until the middle of the night, so I don't get the sleep I wished I did either. It is really hard to do what is best for me when there are so many obstacles in the way. Might seem first-world-problem-ish, but I need to do those things for my health, really. As someone who is overweight and struggeling with depression since I can remember, I want to start to finally thrive in our world. And you are really helping me. I want to focus on myself more and this little "push" is exactly what I needed. ❤️

    • @Downshiftology
      @Downshiftology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so glad to hear that I am able to play a part in your journey to changing into a healthy lifestyle 😊It's so easy to skip these habits when life gets busy or stressful, but you just need to remind yourself that it's okay (and much needed) to take those breaks of just 5 minutes to de-stress yourself!

    Some great helpful tips also another tip would be re-evaluatingserving sizes in portions as dishes and bowls and cups keep on getting bigger and larger our concept of what one serving is gets out of whack. I looked at serving of cereal recentlyand compared it into the bowl my kids use for cereal and honestly they are getting almost three servings of cereal in that bowl

    • @Downshiftology
      @Downshiftology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn't agree more! The sizing here in American is a bit out of proportion, especially when compared to other countries 😊

    I love your tips! I also have several medical conditions including auto immune diseases.
    Even though I have ulcerative colitis, I never felt like fairy or wheat bothered me. After doing an elimination diet as a patient at Clevland Clinic Functional Medicine Dept, I found I didn’t feel well after reintroducing dairy, what and corn. I also limit my carbs to reduce inflammation. It helps so much that my gastroenterologist has taken me off toxic immune suppressants.
    Mediation and exercise both help alter gene expression for disease. It’s also a great tool for so many things. It’s easier to handle bad days by staying the ever present now, something my brain is now trained to do.
    Even if all I can do in a day is feed myself healthfully, it helps my healthy improve over time.
    It’s nice to see another Weck jar fan!!! I love your channel.
