  • With the cryptocurrency mining falling apart about 2 months ago, miners started selling their used graphics cards on eBay, I decided to buy an RTX 3070 Aorus Master, and after 2 months of wait it’s finally here, but when I started gaming, I found something wrong with it, so is it safe to buy a graphic card used for mining? Watch with me as I do a full tear down of this RTX 3070, with thermal paste and thermal pad replacement, and a deep cleaning.

Thank you for the in-depth video

Just a small update from me, had the courage to do it myself. Just repasted my card and it was very simple!

Good work bro keep going 🎉

Planning to do this on my aorus rtx3070, is there an order for the wires connecting the die and the heatsink part? And also how did you clean the fan and fins of the heatsink?

    Hi there ...

  • @Dubzy.

Anybody know if the sizes are the same on the 3070Ti version? Most of mine have ripped when changing the thermal paste

  • @sussy_61

this is like basic thing and the card in this video doesn't really damaged as most of mining card, the real mining card where it was damaged at the thermal sensor and make it easier to be hot in a short time thus the overheating happened far more often with this card. How to fix component already at its lifespan? you basically have to undervolt and let cpu do more job than gpu

I have the 3070 ti and god does it heat up so much. Thank you with the video. I hope this is the issue so I can fix it fast.

That clock speed before service was just not right, I was between the Aorus Master and the Strix, seems like a really good card now that you have fixed it up! cheers!

  • @Zenith_clips

    i cant open the wire

  • @unclecharlie.

i have a very strange smell coming from GPU, i opened it yesterday but nothing visible, temps are normal, benchmarks are as usual... anyone knows what might be ? i changed the PSU few days ago but the smell is still there, i disassembly the pc two times already to find the source of this smell and yesterday decided to open the GPU... i really don't know what to do ... smells like burnt, plastic, something toxic, and pretty attached to anything. even the case stinks if i smell it....

What thickness are the default thermal pads? I have the Rev1.1 as well and wanted to replace mine.

Does anyone sell the LCD, I want veli

  • @emmanueljose100

What a shame you don't disassemble the fans to lubricate internally. I'm looking for a tutorial on how to do it in the Aorus and I can't find out. The rog strix are cheap and the fan is separated from the rotor with no more force, but the aorus I think have a key behind the cover which is what locks the hub

It is lottery ... And from mining card the memory chips are the most affected since most of the coins use the vram. Miners usually underclock the GPU core to save power, but blast the VRAM with +500/600/700 MHZ. My GTX 1070 Palit JetStream is an ex-mining card and still working good. I got it from a miner at the beginning of 2019 for 140 euro, so it is almost 4 years in my PC. And the miner used it for like 2 years. The card was never opened and GPU core and hotspot temps are good after almost 6 years of use.

If you buy this type of card surely it was used for mining...right?

  • @marek8591

good job, this waiting me on 3070ti, 88 degrees, then max spinning, after that drops temperature ---------------> after 1 hour DONE. 😀

  • @ramim.5856

what should the idl temp for the 3070?
