      @technologyoasis9580  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, the stock 3070 FE has a base clock speed of 1500 and a boost of 1730. The Aorus Master comes with a factory overclock of 1845mhz stock, and can easily boost beyond 2ghz, although I imagine the FE can as well. However, this card has a far superior power and cooling design compared to the FE, so you could definitely overclock it higher and keep it's temperatures lower!

    • @technologyoasis9580
      @technologyoasis9580  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, if you can get the Strix and sell this for more than you paid for, it's a free upgrade. However, the Strix is only slightly better in performance, and unless you're talking about the white one, the aesthetics aren't really worth trying to get a whole new card unless you know you'd be able to. This card looks awesome anyway, and it has certain features the strix doesn't, such as an LCD screen and 6 video output ports.

  • @UnluckyDomino

    I recommend undervolting this card. I don't know why the fans need to spin up to 2000RPM. MSI Suprim and ASUS strix do not need to spin this fast because they have a good cooler. I have this card and I am disappointed. However an undervolt to 925mv and 1950MHz (do your own testing and changes) has dropped temperature by 5 to 7c and has made the fan drop by 200 to 300RPM compared to stock, all using the OC BIOS and the stock fan curve.
    The cooler isn't great but it can at least be made to run a bit cooler and quieter with some tweaking. If you're looking to spend this much on a 3070 I recommend the MSI Suprim or even the cheaper ASUS TUF as it has a better cooler.

    • @technologyoasis9580
      @technologyoasis9580  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm... I've found this cooler to be pretty good and also quiet (my case fans make more noise than the GPU), the fans rarely get that high. I'd argue it has a good cooler. If you're undervolting, why are you running it at 1950mhz? stock it comes at 1845 with 900mv... Also I do agree that the ASUS TUF is a good value but the Suprim is very expensive.

    • @UnluckyDomino
      @UnluckyDomino 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@technologyoasis9580 hardware unboxed has a good video on the 3080 version but the same story applies to the 3070 one. It's not a good cooler, I have the same experience they had and also others I've spoken to on discord with other rtx 30 gigabyte cards have said the same. The fans spin up faster than cards from other aib's due to the weaker cooler. I don't know how gigabyte did it but it's not a good outcome.
      If a card has to spin it's fan faster to match thermals of other cards in the same class then it means it's a bad cooler. Simple as that. And that's whats happening here
      Also the whole point of undervolting is to get higher clock speed at lower voltage. So if I can get 1950mhz stable at a similar voltage for 1845, why wouldnt I? Maximise power efficiency, reduce thermals and retain performance. That's a win. That's the goal

    • @technologyoasis9580
      @technologyoasis9580  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UnluckyDomino did some undervolting for fun. at it's stock speed of 1845mhz it runs at just 793mv, with impressive temperature improvement.

    • @gavinbuck8130
      @gavinbuck8130 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I 100% agree, the Suprim X is around the same price and runs 10-12 degrees lower than this, I'm really disapointed as I have an Aorus motherboard and I thought picking the Aorus Master would make a nice pairing aesthetically.
      Given the size of this shroud I expected much greater things, I'd take cooling and OC potential over aesthetics every time.

    • @UnluckyDomino
      @UnluckyDomino 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gavinbuck8130 yes exactly. Performance >> aesthetics (to a certain degree ofc 😅)
      Since i made that first comment I've managed to get a 6800 XT Gaming X Trio for retail. I have slammed it in Cyberpunk and Control. Both the games heavily utilise the GPU and get the card to a high power draw (250w+) yet the fan never goes beyond 1500rpm, most of the time staying below 1300rpm, while keeping the card below 65c (stock fan curve). It is a considerably more powerful card than the 3070 too
      It's amazing how good heatsink/cooler/fan design can make a big difference in cooling potential and reduce fan speed/noise. I just wish MSI made a Suprim card for the RDNA2 cards; I love the design

      @technologyoasis9580  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      sorry but this isn't really true. Premiere has GPU acceleration and uses the GPU's cuda cores for much smoother playback. Also, when rendering a video my gpu goes over 90% utilization. Ram helps, but the CPU is probably the most important.
