    Once again you have made an informing video. Very good.
    But I noticed at the time 15:20 you were surprised of the distance to the next destination on nav screen in the Leaf.
    It only calculates the real road distance to the nest destination, after the car starts moving. Until then, it calculates the "straight line" distance. So don't rely on this number until you start driving :)
    (But maybe you've already figured this out.).

    I fully agree with you. These days I see more and more PHEVs blocking chargers. The annoying thing here is, as you said, is that PHEVs are charging due the small battery extremely slow. The other thing is, if my battery is empty, I can't move at all while a PHEV just uses his ICE. Honestly, I find the PHEVs extremely annoying.

    What i do in my leaf on long trips, is to first discharge to 30-40%. then charge to about 80%-85% or whenever the temperature in the battery hits 35 degrees. If you do this, the first and second rapid charge will be 45kw. No rapidgate until you have done over 350km.

    • @cainefrost
      @cainefrost 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Vidar Johannessen that’s what I do too, this car is not good at going down below 25% battery state and it takes too long to charge above 85%. Best to charge from 30%.

    • @vidardenstore
      @vidardenstore 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HanYou2 on the second charge i charge from as close to 0% as possible. Then charge for as long as i can as long as i get good speed. It's only to get as many kw/h as i can before the battery heats up and it starts rapidgating.

    • @cepaposible
      @cepaposible 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, now where are the other 10 kW to reach 50kW? Even the "old" Ionic with a smaller battery charges faster :-( They put money in ProPilot and e-Pedal instead of in the battery.

    • @tucsonor
      @tucsonor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cepaposible , the last 10kW is not there as they have to limit the amps so it do noe overheat. Instead of allowing 125 amps as the 50kW requier, they limit to 100 amps that equal 40kW. This gives 1,25 times less temp increase. To get the last 10kW they will need a active cooling system.

    This isn't obvious to everybody, but as dogs are pack animals they actually like when you clearly take command. If you don't, they may get a little confused. This is just my own experience and what I heard, I am not an expert, and I sometimes let the dog lead the way too.

    next time if i will visit with my fossil car at the hotel, i want very cheap petrol or diesel also..

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it's expensive and probably require special permit to have a potential dangerous gas pump at the hotel. But the beauty of electricity is that it's cheap to install a charging station or just a Schuko plug. You can't really compare electricity with fossil fuel. Getting breakfast at the hotel for a small fee or getting parking space for a small cost (rather than more expensive breakfast or parking nearby) is something that the hotel can pull off. The same way goes for charging. It's probably hard for you to imagine since you have never driven or owned an EV before?

    • @mleussin
      @mleussin 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just reacting on your complaints about the high price of the charging possibility, i don't ow an EV, and offcourse the cant build a gaspump there i know that...

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's fair to expect a reasonable price for electricity since it's not that big of a hassle ofr the hotel to offer it. But offering petrol or diesel is completely different. Think instead that a hotel offers quite many services that you can get somewhere else:
      - Restaurant
      - Laundry
      - Fitness
      - Swimming pool
      - Massage
      Offering charging is within reach because it's just electricity. But offering gasoline is completely different. I know you want to compare energy for propulsion in a fossil car with energy for propulsion in an EV. But here it can't be compared at all.

    Great video as always but you keep saying the efficiency stats wrong. It's 16.9 kw/h Not 169! if it was 169kw/h you wouldn't go very far at all!
