THAT SOUND!
What a car...a true icon!
I love how this car looks in person, and I love how driver focused it is...
listen to it in person. it's overwhelming. i couldn't close my mouth for hours
those backfire exhaust notes 😍
Downshifts and WOT sounds amazing!!
so far my favorite car. you know it's good when it makes the driver smile. and the sound is amazing
Love watching cars go through the corkscrew.
911's are the very definition of sport cars. Absolutely brilliant.
Beautiful lap!...
Oh My God! Cool, The Porsche 911 Carrera S is one of my Favorite Sport Cars. And I think I like this Video
Porsche 911 (991) Carrera S. Simply the best. Not the fastest, but the best!
What a sound... love it.
Love it!
The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S is nothing short of perfection!
I love the Porsche😍
The 911 didn't lose its steering feel, it has changed but still very accurate... The spirit of the 911 is still there!
And the winner ISSSSS
You don't change the look of perfection.
When Randy Pobst smiles, I smile
Just a great car!
beautiful!
Yes, solid rear axle works great!
Exactly. On the ZL1 video some guy wrote me how he drove the GT500 and his friend has the ZL1 and he is a inspector at Porsche, imagine that. Not to mention all the guys who drove the ZR1, Aventador, Zonda, ect.
I could recommend you to check out Chris Harris as a car driver, his reviews are always spot on.
I recently had the chance to drive one of these (a distributor car) and can't see how anything on this list could be a better drivers car. Granted I have not driven any of the competitors, and my own car is just a MKV GTI, this machine was incredible!
Lovely Porsche! The 991 GT3 will be very interesting!
The carrera sounds so nice
When a car makes the test driver smile and laugh with enthusiasm, it must be a great ride. In my opinion, that is what a Porsche 911 does.
Where is the golf cart we saw in the teaser video? Can't wait to see that do a hot lap, it'll blow away the competition.
Beautiful car!!!!
The 2013 911 turbo will be an absolute BEAST
straight sawing at it!
Laguna Seca aww yeah GT skills right there. I know so many courses from that game lol.
That might just be the best-sounding 6 cylinder I've ever heard straight from the factory. I want one
Oh my God, the noise
The Porsche 911 is definitely the thinking man's sports car.
Porsche stays true to it’s roots with everything about the car. They don’t care about the big engines and the numbers in the book don’t mean a thing. Just look at how they like the BRZ.
pdks are amazing
Just sitting here in my chair watching a computer screen I enjoyed this lap the most so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Porsche 911 win this contest. Plus anyone else notice that flat 6 sounds great!? ^_^
whats the music name at the end please? sounds great!
Two things surprise me about MT's selection of the 2013 911: 1) They chose the old PDK, not the industry-first 7-speed manual, and 2) they didn't include the new Boxster as well (they had two Porsche's in last year's competition).
When the last GT500 came out Carrol Shelby said they planned to put a different rear axle in the car, but that would increase the price of the car for 10 000 dollars and no one would want to buy it.
All car testers said that the GT500 is a fun car to drive, but its not a car for racing its more like a car to race from one stop light to another.
Just imagine the GT3RS when it comes out!
Love Porsche.
Huge fan of the new 911 Carrera S. Sitting at the top of my wish list until the new Targa rolls out =)
Exactly. And that's what Randy Pobst, pro race driver basically said.
@mxaxh1
They're releasing the final three contenders tomorrow.
The sound of 911's is pron to me!
How fast was that through the corkscrew.Amazing and sounds like a proper old rally car with that rasp :-)
This is just a "base" model of the 911, and its already amazing. Can't wait for the new 911 Turbo and GT3 and GT2. They're gonna be proper supercars.
Woah! We may have a winner folks!
I just can't believe that at 3.8 Liters this engine is producing 325 lbs of torque.
You'd be amazed how great some tanks can handle, though. Especially, the German Leopard 2A6 and the Russian T-80.
Its a CARRERA, no GT3, no Turbo. This is the comfy one, just wait to see what the GT3 will do. One word comes to mind and that is epic. You gotta love Porsche. Specially since in the last 3-years, ConsumerReports & JDPower ranked it 1st, 3rd, and 4th most reliable manufacturer. That can't be said about GM, Datsun, Ford or anyone else. As always with Porsche, you get what you pay for. The difference with the 911 and its competitors, is you can daily a 911, its both racer car and daily car.
Personally a GTR fan, but looks like Randy Pobst has had the most fun in this car so far!
Agree and it was even Turbo or GT3-RS or GT2-RS
Porsche is KING!
the first well thought out comment i have read , well done garry
There's.... seats in the back of this car???!!! That's awesome!!! hhaha didn't expect that from a 911 but I guess I don't know too much about them.
I had a feeling it would be the Porsche. Proud 944 turbo owner here.
I cant believe a car from 2003 with aftermarket LED lights won the 2012 BDC!
A "drivers" car is a car you want to drive no matter the conditions, any time, all the time.
It's a car that you can enjoy, that you can drive to your maximum driving potential. Not hindered by a slow stick in the middle of the floor which you have to waste time and effort shifting your hand to because technology hadn't progressed far enough for a DCT back when the first automotive transmissions were made.
If the first gearbox in the world were a CVT, you'd hate your manual.
I think the Porsche Carrera S will win. Perfect weight distribution, comfort, speed, style, prestige and solid numbers (400hp/325lb-ft) from the 3.8L F-6. Couldn't ask for much else from a "drivers car" on the street or track.
Judging by Randy's comments, this car is a podium finisher, if not the winner.
i really wish i could!
My brother just got his porsche 911 (991) 2013 today with an aero kit, illegaly tinted windows and sweeeet black rims
I feel that the GTR's aggressive look compliment's it's power. Although I agree the porsche's design looks better when it's longer, it still has that modest look to it. I mean, when I look at a porsche 911 running on a freeway, I don't turn my head and think: "Man, what a beast" But when I see a GTR on the freeway I think to myself: "Holy crap is that car sexy."
I can't wait to see the GT2 version of this car. It will be sharper than a katana.
that is fucking awesome!!! good luck on your move i hope it becomes a reality for you !!!
by the way honestly if i just happen to win a lottery i would buy a Porsche 911 carrera s, you seen the smile on Randy's FACE?? lol that thing looks awesome, no turbo lag, no charger weird cyclone effect just powerful natural aspirated engine .
You Should have tested the 911 turbo s. I hope you will soon
the 991 base turbo is rumored to launch 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, quarter @ 10 seconds flat 135 trap speed...That is fucking insane...And we aint even getting into the turbo S revisions or GT2 RS etc.
But these are just speculated numbers, and with launch control off options.
that track is from grand tourismo 4
I think its perfectly fair, its not the fastest of the bunch but it defiantly puts a smile on his face like the Brz :)
I think we have a winner
i knew that porsche will just had to win, its awesome
Amen.
Didn't expect the 4s to be faster this year..
"This car is absolutely ideal."
Look at Tanner Foust's face when he drove the Noble M600.
You drove it?
What is that song at the end?! I MUST KNOW.
Perhaps we should agree to disagree, since we can't seem to relate to one another's mindset. I'll respect your appreciation of DCT gearboxes even if I can't myself. From my own experience, I have only been able to enjoy a PDK for a single quick launch before finding them unengaging. I never become bored of driving a manual, even though I know it to be slower and less efficient. It has nothing to do with old fashioned nostalgia, just the rewarding feeling I get from rowing my own gears.
When you've driven it all, and have to choose one... You just don't choose the slower, more cumbersome, less well rounded one.
winner
The GT2 RS or the GT3 RS weren't built on the 991 chassis yet.
If you havent noticed. All these cars tested are the newest on the market.......
400 BHP from a production, naturally aspirated 6 cylinder, is still impressive. American naturally aspirated V8s not much above that.
Well done porshe. I mean, automatic spoiler?! Amazing!
You don't get it, Porsche constantly says they change every model they make. In most aspects this is true and they never have lied when they say they change it. I just find it funny that the car and its basic design are almost completely unchanged since the car was put into production
There are cars, and then there are Porsches.
I've been trying to find out, too. i posted on all nine videos.
Does anybody know the title of the outro theme? pls reply to me thx
thats one hell of a weight distribution...
what color is this porsche? please reply guys thx
This car is beautiful and looks amazing in blue. By the way I'm a corvette guy too.
ha i love the brz i think its a perfectly executed car for what it is.
I see your point. Still 4 seat muscle cars have always had big power but until now, that hasn't been enough to beat a 911 around a race track. Although the porsche 911 is far superior in other aspects such as quality of interior finishing, it makes great compromises in the name of performance (no real back seat, no real trunk, price, etc.). If they no longer have that edge over the relatively affordable gt500, they aren't making enough progress. Or maybe its the other way around.
Especially looks
I respect your argument in all aspects but the 2012 Best Driver's Car, chosen by Motor Trend, is the Porsche 911 Carrera S. Motor trend made the right decision in crowning this vehicle!
1:31 Randy has a Cargasm
Face it... you may be old but you still have a lot to learn as well as us. You are no different from any one of us.
