    I always kind of thought Chandlers “Captain America” speeches about greatness and being the best possible version of yourself were a little bit cringe and were just an over exaggerated ‘hero’ character he was playing, but knowing his backstory puts all of that in a much different perspective. He’s a genuinely great guy who’s proud of the adversity he’s overcome and wants to show the world it’s possible to push past loss and be proud of yourself as person, not just a fighter. Great video.

      @The Hard StuffI've been a superhero comics fan since I was a kid. In the 90s that entire genre went through a period where the old characters like Superman and Captain America were seen as cheesy and what we now call cringe. People wanted cool badass anti-heroes like the Punisher and Ghost Rider. For awhile Bruce Wayne was replaced as Batman by another character who was more brutal and violent. Captain America was handed off to creators who were more in line with the zeitgeist. Looking back on it now the most cringeworthy thing is how anyone thought those grim and gritty anti-heroes were cool. People thought they were more "adult" but they came off as much more childish than Captain America and Superman. People may find speeches about greatness and being the best possible version of yourself cringe...but those speeches aren't wrong.

    • @chrisgarcia7091
      @chrisgarcia7091 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cringe? no man it’s motivation to literally be your best and perform at your best. YOU CAN DO ANY THING AND YOU CALL THAT COMMENT CRINGE? WHAT ARE YOU DOING that’s anywhere near significant as what this man has done

    • @BlackCrowOfDeath
      @BlackCrowOfDeath ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisgarcia7091 if I didn’t make it clear enough in my comment I’ll explain it now by saying I thought it was a little cringe because I assumed it was a character he was playing, like the opposite of Colby Covington. I didn’t know his backstory at all, which is why I watched this video and now know that it’s his genuine self and he means everything he says. Before watching this I thought everything he was saying was scripted and overly poetic on purpose to play up a “hero” role. Im not saying what I’ve done is anywhere near what he’s done, I’m a CNA going to EMT school not a decorated mixed martial artist. If you actually read my comment you should have gotten the point immediately (like the video creator did) that I thought he was just another MMA over exaggerated personality but knowing his backstory made me change my mind and appreciate him more. Maybe pay closer attention to what i said instead of looking at the word “cringe” and firing hate on all cylinders. It’s not a good look.

    The way Michael speaks is so compelling to me, and he's so inspiring! He's got this way of talking about his experiences, wins, losses and mindset that really hits the mind and soul so deeply, so richly. To the point where you want to be great too.
    Your section on self talk/self image really got to me. I've grown up to develop a very critical and defeating negative self talk and image over the years due to my upbringing and experiences, but I'm trying to change that and hearing the self talk stuff has really set my sights on believing that I can achieve greatness in my life, and also encouraging the thought and feeling that I DO deserve success and I am worthy of it.
    You, Patrick Gaiva, and Psychology of The Fight have really changed my viewpoint on life in the past year by watching these documentaries on the fighters of UFC. Hearing the lives of these fighters, how they came up, and familiarising myself and identifying with these fighters emotionally have brought me new mindsets in my life and I'm so grateful for these videos you guys post. You're doing incredible work for the world.
    Thank you so very much.

    Love that you're keeping the glass motif, it was really nicely used in your last video too.
    I'm going through a lot, but this made me feel inspired and hopeful.
    Thanks MMAcademic.

    Chandler is a guy who gets in a zone in every fight. In his first rounds he’s like a bulldozer and just runs over everyone. But after that, he tires and tries to show how tough and not tired he is. If he could keep composed and read the fight instead of explode on his opponent. He’d be unstoppable.
