It really defines who a person actually is... I don't know any fighter, myself include (years ago - street and on mats / rings who has NEVER lost, or have had someone get the better of anyone on their rise in training and experience... Ronda is one of the most pathetic losers I've seen male or female.. I was absolutely disgusted by both Forrest and DC when they ran out of the ring after they got smashed.. Those two I DO respect for who they are outside of that.. I don't see redeeming qualities in Ronda.. Getting hated while not intentionally being a heel in pro wrestling.. That had to have stung far worse than Amanda treating her like a jello bag..

"Without Ronda, there is no Amanda Nunes."
Don't take away from Amanda. She was fighting in Invicta while Ronda was in the UFC. Yes, Ronda helped build the platform, but Amanda was already on her way -- and she surpassed Ronda's dominance in the sport.
She also fought Cyborg, something Ronda was afraid to do. I can say that confidentially, because I have been watching the sport since the Strike Force days. Ronda always made excuses to avoid Cyborg, whereas Amanda beat her.
Now, before people say, "Well, Cyborg and Ronda were in different weight classes," Ronda actually started her career in the featherweight division (145 lbs). Then, she dropped down to the bantamweight division (135 lbs).
In contrast, Amanda simultaneously held UFC championship belts in both divisions.

Pretending it didn't happen, going into hiding, and refusing to properly acknowledge and accept it just makes you look silly to the audience and allows the loss to continue to eat you alive... I don't think the problem was her being a sore loser. Not liking losing is not a terrible thing. her problem is, she is just not strong mentally. Early in the Holm fight, after she ate a couple of shots and couldn't get the takedown, you could see panic and confusion set in. Instead of manning up to the challenge, she just wilted under adversity. Shitty training didn't help either, leading her to think she could throw hands with upper echelon strikers. She could have won the Holm fight. Go for the takedown. if it gets stuffed, go again. and again.
Against Nunes? She had exactly zero chance of winning that.

@@exspiravit6920 TBF Ali came back - if anything his defeats elevated his triumphs even further. Ali is just beyond comparison to Rousey in so many ways. Even in terms of a life story, the people who truly despised him then, now look back on their hatred as a relic of an era because the man was willing to sacrifice to prove that he was more than shallow bravado. Put it this way, the man who challenged the American government and society came to be seen by America as one of THE truly great Americans.
Rousey was just shallow bravado and there was no strength of character to help her recover from being brought down, and I think that is what folks are getting at. Had she possessed spiritual strength and moral courage to bolster her talent then that combination could have elevated her past the adversity she faced, either helping her be competitive again or just helped her cement her career accomplishments instead of blemishing them in a cloud of disgrace. What is crazy is how her example is perfect at explaining how important those factors are, and also, I should stress that what is meant by "spiritual" and "moral" is not referring necessarily to religious faith or any particular ethics but building yourself mentally into an in dominatable person ready to confront anything - including a loss, so that failure or losing DOES NOT defeat you.
      To borrow the definitions from the military;
Spiritual fortitude is to make meaning of experiences and be resilient when faced with adversity to create inner strength.
Moral courage is the willingness to stand firm on your values, principles, and convictions-even when threatened.

she's the product of her mother raising her alone. When Amanda punched her out of MMA, her mother said "let her have it, we're better than getting punched in the face for a paycheck".
Now she goes to podcasts saying she was concussed and fighting with a torn ACL against Holly lol.
Imagine that, she's the best female fighter ever, but fights injured and loses. Fine, it happens. First thing she would do, if the crap she's been saying was real, she would heal, train and ask for an immediate rematch with Holly, but she never did that, she didn't want any of that heat.
Then she took a year off, came back and was destroyed, retired and now says "her mind wasn't there anymore". So annoying. No humility nor respect for much more accomplished fighters. Amanda lost to Peña on a fluke win, didn't say a thing, came back and dominated her completely to reclaim what's her. I think too much gets made of fighters that Ronda previously beat that went on to become champions and her fans wear that as a feather in their cap. Ronda beat them when they were new to the UFC and they just weren't very good. A fighter has the right to improve. When Miesha Tate got beaten by Ronda, she was sloppy as hell, looked terrible in that fight, and was nothing like the fighter that beat Holly Holm for the bantamweight championship 3 years later. That's how it went for most of the fighters in that division. They trained, got good coaching, and got better while Ronda sat back and let it ride.
When Ronda beat Tate in 2013, I remember Dana White talking some real trash about Miesha, saying that she's a has-been and needs to retire. He was actually right, it was her 3rd loss in 4 fights and she looked like total garbage in her loss to Ronda. To Miesha's credit, she went to work, trained harder, went on a 5-fight win streak, and capped it off by beating Holy Holm for the bantamweight championship. Now contrast Ronda's 1st loss. She did the exact opposite. She crumbled like an Oreo cookie and hid from the media in her house for a year. Talk is talk. Miesha turned it around and showed it in the ring. Ronda just gave up.

They (UFC including Joe Rogan) found a way to do it that had the right personalities (Rousey et al.), and was entertaining enough to put asses in seats which is the job of entertainers. So far womens sports have failed to do so, and the UFC might be the only time any group has have ever succeeded outside of womens volleyball.
Consider womens soccer. They keep trying, and have such bad PR that if anything, people are LESS likely to watch womens soccer than before they spent an assload of money trying to make it successful. Just goes to show the personalities REALLY matter. I'm not going to name names in womens soccer, but if you have a functioning brain, you can figure it out. Some will turn people off of it forever, whereas in the case of Rousey (love her or hate her) she made womens UFC relevant with the help of the UFC organisation.
They really achieved something amazing. People hate on the UFC, but they should be taking notes about how to do it right.

Well, her skills in Judo were what got her wins.. her striking was hyped because it was an unknown quantity. Basically, people were thinking "but what if she's actually a top striker too, how crazy would that be?" And she and Rogan both overestimated her striking skills.
Training boxing is one thing, even if her punches looked silly, that's just shadowboxing.. so maybe he assumed it wasn't the way she'd actually punch in fights. I don't know, but he is definitely a drug addicted idiot so I wouldn't take anything he says seriously anyway.

The Bible warns us to be careful that we don’t become “So heavenly minded that we are no earthly good”
When you jump out of the gate with an incorrect judgement, use an insult, and then claim the name of the lord, it just turns people off and then no one wants to hear what you’re saying. In that case, you actually hurt the lord by driving his children away by your behavior.

She is widely disliked and ridiculed because of her foul personality and massive self-absorption to the point of looking more like a parody on a person than actually looking like a real one. All her acting right down to such aspects as the phraseology and facial expressions she uses (and always did way before her losses) telling a story of a kid in an adult body. And I urge to watch those clips with her mother talking, try to feel the vibe, it's unsettling.
She is so massively delusional, that she wasn't able to recognize the need to use her judo later in the career, and actually believing 100% in how perfect her "boxing" is, it's may be understandable for a spectator, but for the professional fighter herself it's beyond bizarre.
It's all a shame really, because she as a fighter a great and important piece of history of MMA, and the only thing that hold (at this point probably forever will be) from being loved is all this strange out of the blue blaming others for her losses and calling herself a winner in defeat, and all her spite towards everyone who doesn't call her the queen of MMA and not agreeing that a loss is a win in her case. In reality, without all that BS she would have been now easily one of the most beloved and praised retired athletes in this sport.
And also, me, as a judoka, I would like her as much as I like Karo =) But personally I can't like just a mechanism, an athlete in a nutshell, I can surely recognize the achievement, but people worthy of praise are people in the first place, a character, a public persona plus an athlete, all in a bundle.
I wish her to look on all this from a different angle, not that one from she's stuck looking at things. Not sure it's possible for her after living whole life like that. Maybe it'll happen one day and she'll realize all that is obvious for everyone else. Would be neat, really.
Being an athlete wins medals and belts. But to win respect and love and praise a sportsmanship is required, not just athleticism. She lacks in morality and healthy humility, that's the story.
Not judging nor looking down upon her, it's just important to call everything as it is. It's all on the surface, I'm not "investigating", just describing.

But, saying that, I personally don't think it's an excuse for being a jerk, in a broad sense.

Is anything wrong with that? Compared to most of the female fighters who have manly faces and bodies, she definitely was pretty and had the feminine look, same with Miesha and Gina. One should not deny that fact simply because you hate her. Ronda was the pretty blonde. Miesha was calling her pretty, Ronda was just responding that she isn't just pretty, she has skills as well.

It's a cold line, but like many lines and words, it doesn't match reality.
We know Ronda's wins play over and over and over again in her head because they are the only distraction from her losses.
Circulating them helps her maintain the illusion she is still "undefeated."
The woman she said those words to would indeed have to think about her all the time if she didn't disappear from the sport in infamy, could never face her fans or the media after 2 losses, and isn't now being lampooned for a tell all where she blames everyone else.
Many of the women she defeated would go on to have far more respectable careers in the sport, and can walk into a venue without fear of being booed.
She's the one stuck on her glory days and afraid to even come to a UFC event.

Even for me, as a former wrestling fan, Ronda is and was the greatest female athlete to ever live. I quit watching wrestling part way through her wrestling career, and I actually thought she wouldn't come back. Her attitude is very sociopathic but that is part of her. As a sociopath myself, I can relate to her a lot. Rather than accept a loss, you try to build back your confidence with bluster since others aren't the source of your confidence or motivation. If you accept that you aren't the best anymore, you just don't want to do it anymore.. that's the way people like myself think. That's at least partially how I think Ronda felt. You can't look at someone and say "she's great but only her skills". Everything besides her skills is how those skills were built. Without her powerful personality, her "idgaf" mentality, she wouldn't be the arm snapping badass. Expecting her to be like other people who lose is just ridiculous. She's herself, and her attitude towards losing is just as important to who she is as her skills are. People may not like it, but they don't need to. Just respect her and don't bandwagon bully her over not responding the way you want her to.

We just don’t do it under the lights of UFC super stardom. She did wrong not giving credit to her opponents. She did wrong shunning her media duties. Ronda carries immense hurt from her family’s past, and with a mixture of yes men and immovable determination she took some wrong turns, ultimately becoming outclassed in the cage by more evolved fighters.

Ronda Rousey was a force to be reckoned with in the MMA. Most everyone at that time agreed that Rousey was a phenominal force in the Octagon. Her greatest downfall was her arrogance and her lack of respect for her opponents. The bandwagon fans that embraced her rise to the top were so quick to jump on that same bandwagon when she fell from grace. Her legacy and impacr on the sport will and should never be questioned, but her attitude toward the rwo females that beat her will always be a matter of contention for Rousey and a credible criticism of what she ultimately became as a person and a competitor.
