LG doesn't give a shit, lG isn't buying people off like Samsung and Apple. LG isn't going anywhere, their phones, monitors and displays are some of the best. The Google pixels that these sheep worship are made partly by LG but hey, if the sheep want iphones then let the sheep buy iphones.
XDA rated the Pixel 4 display better than the Pixel 4 XL. P-OLED is just as good (if not better for shadow clipping and viewing angles) than AMOLED.
@@rhysclunis6252 because they sucks. Tried LG G6 and never again will use LG. For a phone, it have shitty network and call quality. I lost 2 jobs opportunity because i didn't receive anu call when in fact the other did call me. Call quality sucks, you keep getting disconnected and can't hear the other party. For a phone, you can't even make a call and call quality sucks means it is the ultimate failure and LG should just die.
Lg is horrible at updates. Also the didn't ship the v50 to all major carriers
You 're almost the the only reviewer that also sees LG's good traits and doesn't just ignore their good phones💓😎
A few folks out there, but LG isn't as popular for search, so most reviewers won't spend the time.

The second screen is the ultimate multitasking tool. And it doesn't have to be on all the time, you can take it off unlike the fold.
It's REALLY handy. I have it on about 40% of the time I'm using it now. It's great having the option for regular phone AND extra space.
It's 100% worth it, I'm so glad I chose the v50 over the fold.

Was going to wait for your full review before purchasing but ended up purchasing anyway because I've been happy with the V20 and V30.
Hopefully the next gen fixes that huge cut out on the back of the case and possibly a full screen on the front display.
Basically I hope they keep working on premium dual case since the actual phone already has most features, maybe even a camera or battery into the dual case... Wow.

This message is for all interested in using a stylus with the LG G8X. I found a stylus named VITAL ALUMINIUM which I purchased at THE SOURCE STORE in Canada for a very cheap price of 5.75$ taxes included. It doesn't look like the one on the video. Though it has a rounded rubbery tip , It does react very well with both screens and is pressure sensitive !! YES !!! No battery needed. And it works very well with popular drawing apps like Art rage, Sketchbook and Painter .
I was used to the telephone line of Samsung Notes and this LG G8X will be a no regrets replacement.
Hope this will be a helpful tip...
The G8 brand new was under 400 when I checked a couple days ago, a complete steal, can't wait for the G8X to drop down a bit so I can scoop one up. Props on the quality video Juan

I recently bought the LG V35 from Amazon as a prime exclusive phone for $399 on its limited time sale price before going back up to $899 and its my first LG phone and i LOVE IT! Definitely an LG fan now for sure!
It's 100% unlocked and brand new. I guess whatever unlocked V35's that are left, Amazon is selling them with like 9 of their Amazon apps pre installed but they all can be disabled and they don't take up any space at all.
The V35 is the best version of the V30. Pick it up if you can. Keep an eye on the price and see if it goes back down to that limited-time price again.
They're super solid phones. Its just a shame LG won't advertise more.

They should have releases the product under a different name because now original LG G8 buyers must be fuming. The only downgrade is the screen although LG's 1440p panel is pretty much the worst compared to the competition so going back to 1080p saves battery and as you said matches the second screen.
Very Good comparison. I picked up a brand new G8X during Flash Sale in India for $200! Subbed.
The Android 10 update has removed native DSD playback and mqa is gone Android 10 sucks. Thank you I didn't know that they removed 4K 60 frames per second on the X model who knows if that's coming back.
I have a question for you Juan how do you turn up the g8x front screen notification clock that's on the very front how do you turn up the brightness on that because it's awfully dim and as soon as you step outside it's unreadable.
I bought an unlocked G8X from Best Buy and it's currently not able to activate through Sprint. So if you plan on doing the same, beware!
I bought the AT&T G8 variant from Amazon for a little less than $350 after tax. Great phone for the price even with the AT&T bloatware.
I definitely love the Dual Screen aceesory for the G8X, much more practical than the Samsung Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X. But since the G8X lacks native telephoto camera, I'm afraid my choice will go to the G8 since there is a triple wide/ultrawide/telelphoto camera option for the G8 and I frequently use telephoto way more than ultrawide.
I like this format of "foldable" more than the actual foldables 😂

Also I loved my G5 😂 the modular design had potential man lol, I loved the replaceable battery and being able to swap in the B&O HiFi DAC. Loved that phone if it wasn't for the HORRIBLE image retention

I was going to get the LG G8x/V40 but got the OP7t because of the software and I've been using bluetooth Headphones (lg) since 2013, so not having the headphone jack isn't that big of a deal as ai thought. But I'd still love to have it.

I hadn't considered that reason for why they switched to an in display. Ergonomic consideration ftw.
fingerprint sensor. It's like reviews and comparisons are supposed to be more than what you get by staring at a spec sheet for half an hour.
That's how you do options instead of just: but what if it was a bit smaller. For me, although the multitasking is enticing, that resolution, fingerprint sensor and unlock options (including air motion, believe it or not) draw me to the G8.
I think there's still a VERY good argument to be made for the G8. I think it's the better standalone phone for sure.
LG needs to start properly advertising their phones and releasing them in places other than the US, like in Canada.

And the last time I remember seeing an LG AD was the mighty flawed but amazing G4 at bus stops.
There are some terrible LG ads out there. Look up Jason Statham for the G5, Aubrey Plaza for the G7, and the zombie V40 ads. Plus all the Joseph Gordon Levett commercials with Hit Record that don't even show the phones but are some how about the phones.

The G8 and G8X have been released in Canada. The major carriers (at least in my area) are advertising the G8X.

I've owned a number of LG phones. The G3, the V30 and now the G8X. I've always been a fan of LG. I really loved the V30 which I thought was the best phone they'd ever put out...to that point. The only reason I moved on was the screen started to get twitchy. The replacement phone I received from my purchased warranty plan was clearly a refurb and after a month or so the internal battery started to swell. So, time to move on. I LOVE the G8X. It's not perfect, but as Juan points out the second screen is fun and I get tons of curious looks when I turn it on in public. That said, the one feature I do miss from my V30 is the rear fingerprint scanner/power button. I am one of those people that truly believes that the back of the phone is the best place for the power button. It just makes intuitive sense and I find there is much less fumbling with the phone to turn the screen on. The back of the second screen case on the G8X has a large open square area for the camera and flash. Honestly, more space than is needed, but plenty of space for a rear finger print scanner/power button directly under the camera. I don't know why LG went to the in screen fingerprint scanner, which I find is overly sensitive and can get annoying. All that said, I'm very happy with my G8X. My only other pet peeve is the little dongle needed for charging with the second screen case installed. It is a cool piece of tech but if you lose it...oh well. I have ordered additional dongles from LG just in case. Hopefully on the next generation of similar phones, LG will use a more simplistic form of USB "pass through".
Amazon has these versions' with 90 day return policy as low as $190.00 now, but not with Verizon models only GSM it appears.
LG has something with the dual screen feature...provided they do not abandon it. I hope to see it further refined in the v60 with QHD screens and sleeker design.

It's an annoying compromise to make, but now LG is the last to offer a premium phone with an audiophile headphone jack and full true manual control over the camera. I doubt they'll continue to do that for long if they can make more money cutting those features.

Im curious as to why the decided to use the usb port for the dual screen instead of the pins like the V50, that massive chin and weird proprietary charging dongle would really put me off getting one Vs the V50
It probably gave LG more control over distribution funnily enough. If a carrier doesn't want to support or stock the case then you end up with a weird fractured version of the phone like the USA V50 vd Korean.

So, a couple of questions since you seem to have some love for LG. I do appreciate a positive spin in a review sometimes.
I am curious about the build/durability of the phone and the case. It seems the case serves no purpose other than serving as the second screen. In addition, this phone is glass. I just went by Sprint today and their only model in-house was broken,( the glass back), when staff dropped it while setting it up. So how durable do you think this phone and the case are? It looks like it would need some form of additional protection. Thus, making it even more unwieldy and cumbersome.
@@Tigerex966 I don't think the dual-case was on. However, I went to another Sprint store and they had a problem with the dual-case screen this time also being broken in-house. So, two incidents, one broken screen on the phone itself and the other, a broken screen on the case. It doesn't look good... Especially, when broken by employees. Who you would 'assume,' are more careful. I know 'assume' is a big word.
I still would like to hear from Juan regarding his opinion of the phone durability and how protective the case actually is.

I recently got my v40 stolen :( and I'm looking for a replacement. I was never a big fan of LG until V40 but now I don't think I'll buy from another one. I know I can get a G8 Korean version with 3 lenses for a decent price (I'm originally from Hong Kong, the capital of parallel trading of cell phones :p), can you confirm if its cameras are exactly the same as v50 as claimed by the store? Also you think I should wait for G9 (I know about the mid-high range it's designed to go for) or even the v60?
The hardware is similar, but the V50 is more powerful, so you get better performance for things like software stabilized 4K60 on the V50. The V40 can shoot 4K60, but not with stabilization. It's all pros and cons. If you can step up to a V50, it's a small but decent upgrade over the V40. The V60 is a VERY different animal for camera and display tech.

I got my LG G8 for 190 bucks Sprint unlocked so it works with cricket and battery is at 100%
1:53 word. and nah, that's a buzz kill for me. whatever curiosity i had about this phone just went straight out the window.
I actually like the sound bar. Nah I love it! When I use my acoustic speaker it's even better basically having it's own mini sub. No it's not the loudest but the experience is always rich when listening to ANYTHING

Trying to decide between the two - I like the better camera and physical fingerprint sensor on the G8 but I've seen a lot mentioned about the recorded audio quality being terrible. I tend to take a lot of video on auto so that's a bit of a dealbreaker. Do you know if there's a way to fix it or if it's been fixed, or would you recommend the G8X instead?

Not shure if those new stereo speakers could top audio (bass) quality of g8 when put on resonant surface. My G7 rocks the parties when there's no bluetooth speaker at hand. For movies I would use headphones, for everithing else it doesn't matter if it's stereo or mono. Even most bluetooth speakers are mono. I hope they get to implement both technologies in next model

The G8X got 4000 mah battery and 6.4" screen than G8 with 3500 mah battery and 6.1" screen.

I just got the Amazon Alexa version of the G8 which is minus the Google assist button. It was $400 on sale for Black Friday! Am I making a mistake purchasing this G8 Alexa version without the Google assist button? Also, I see that there is no October updated security patch for this Alexa version.... but for $400 should I complain or return it?
