I've had both devices and I have to say that I like the LG G8 better mostly because of the display quality and the smaller size
I have both of these and both have their perks. G8... compact size, better screen, fast face unlock and large always on display. G8x...Dual screen, better speakers,larger battery. LG killed it with these two imo. Great video.

Using LG g8x at 200 dollars and continue to use it till 2023. Even latest 2021 oneplus and all Chinese phones don't had 4k from front camera and this LG g8x had 4k 30fps from the front with eis. 4k 30fps hdr10 and 4k timelapse from both rear cameras. Main support 4k timelapse hdr10. Camera is better than s20 amd iphone 11 after using them all i can say that.
I'm still using mine now in 2025.

a new boxed even wth b&o headphone a LG V30 for 140 in EU is good ,i preferred this then V40 or G7 as said audio is pretty good on b&o tuning .Off corse then depends the cans you were and i like IEM often DUNU and Tin Hifi

G8X is more refined version in my opinion
I just bought a LG G8 thinq for 119$ off eBay in good condition unlocked can't wait to try it out
No one talks about how your ear can be almost anywhere on the screen of the G8 when making calls and you can hear the other end clearly thanks to it's unique speaker design. Don't have to point a tiny speaker at your ear canal, that whole screen is loud and clear. It's an underrated feature that I love. But my G8 has been abused so imma give G8X a shot. Excellent review. Helped me out. 🙏

Android 11 update is coming in LG g8x but when in September? My speaker volume and ui smoothness increased alot after May 2021 update.
13 now even though i will put a rom android 1O as the V30 is 2017 model so i am only worry about messing up with audio ,for videos and specs i have a Samsung s10 5G which i attached a powerful E1DA dac for just 100$ is a beast of balanced power check it out if you're into dacs ,it has like 430mw @16 ohms and 340MW C;A at 32

M using a lg g7 plus and it's still good enough except the cameras. It doesn't mean this video and any lg comparison videos are relavent at this point

hi guys , lg g8x and g8s pack kind of worse quality cameras compare to g8 when its comes to aperture for both lenses and mp as well for the wide angle one ,
lg g8 : main 12 MP, f/1.5, - 16 MP, f/1.9, 16mm (ultrawide)
lg g8x : main 12 MP, f/1.8, 27mm - 13 MP, f/2.4, 9mm (ultrawide)
anyone has both phones to tell us the difference while taking pics ?
Obviously, display is way better on G8 thanks to 2K resolution and notch is less uggly than waterdrop hole. Speakers are better on G8x. Battery life is better on G8x ofcourse (but with G8 you can still get 48h with 4 sot h vs near 8h on G8x). Videorecording nice on both phones, maybe slightly better video in lowlight with G8, but G8x has way better audio recording microphones, G8 is pretty weak in audio recording. Front camera - G8, because G8x has some bug with manufacturer's settings of focus distance of the front camera, no crisp images for ever. Main cameras: little bit better in stock app for G8, BUT much better for G8x, if you are using GCam, and thats for BOTH cameras. For those who was talking that G8x doesnt have flagship cameras😂.

Yeah,but not only does the native 1080p screen save battery,it has a bigger battery. On top of that,it's pretty easy to go into the display settings,change the sharpness and get it very close to what you like.
The difference is very noticable and battery life wont take like that big of a hit it would be like 30 min extra
Also wanna say that the fingerprint sensor on the g8x sucks ass like it's soo slow. The back mounted one is 10x fatser

I have both but the G8X is a piece of shit, while the G8 is much better despite having a smaller screen. The G8 has a higher screen resolution, and takes BETTER photos.
The G8X photos look like crap zoomed in, and the G8 look good.
Unless you will use the 2nd screen attachment, get the regular G8 not the X.
My experience is actually different. G8x despite having lower resolution, has better colour reproduction. Looking punchier and more vivid resembles a Samsung panel. The notch is also less obtrusive. Yet I still prefer the size of G8. Camera(s) also follow the same trend. The main camera is miles better in my opinion in its software processing, stretching even to its Ultrawide lens. Not to mention the field of view also is wider than G8 and V50. For the telephoto lens, V50 and G8 rarely uses its telephoto lens, except in (very) good lighting. You can test this by covering your main camera when switching to telephoto. The things that I hate on my G8x is the plain jane design and its in display fingerprint. Other than that, I can still see myself daily driving this for another year.
