He said that after the story mode update (maybe after EA30) it would be the final release I hope the game gets really well polished before the full release
We're still waiting. EA28 i think. But there was a SHITLOAD of new things. The Buzzard, Cassowary and raptor got updates and there's an scriped spec ops type misson. Mapwise the citadel was heavily upgraded with underground bunkers and buildings. And the best of all: There's an unofficial multiplayer mod/plug-in that called RavenM thag lets you directly play in private with your friends and mods of your liking.
I've noticed something on Domination. The capture points chosen aren't entirely random. if the game can't pick one Red, one Blue and one Neutral, it will give the advantage to the team that lost the previous wave.
I wasn’t really expecting a good review since most of the lower viewed review videos suck, but the sound, visuals and generally your tone is really promising imo. Keep it up!
Solid video and flow, my boi. seems like a nice game to pickup once it has some extra polish added to it just for the insane modability. Wondering when someone will make a BOPS 1 Zombies mod. Probably already done.
The most recent patch (EA22) fixed the inconsistent sound issue you mentioned. It doubled the amount of sounds that can play at once from 32 to 64. It's so much better now. It also improved the performance of the game while using mods by automatically unloading them when not in use.
Oh thank god, that's honestly great to hear. The dev for this game is honestly great and deserves a lot of credit for their work. In one patch they managed to fix two of my biggest technical gripes with the game, hats off to them.
11:37 I remember that I wanted a battle only with this guns, so I allowed the AI to use only them. It turned out that they can't even use them, they had empty hands and couldn't do anything.
Yeah, some weapons are restricted to the player only. But sometimes it does make sense because you don't want every bot to have the AA-AA (the Akimbo automatic guns, but with explosive rounds)
Recently I played ground branch, a milsim made to appease the tactical gamer with realistic movement and balistics. AI in Ravenfield blows Ground branch out of the water. I never saw a bot run into the wall for 45 seconds straight in ravenfield.
The bots are smarter 1 year later After capturing a point, a few of them will stay there to defend it They arent feeling like dumb bots from a game that released 20 years ago
i really hope theyd get some integration kind of thing to their ai in the future, dont you just hate it when they cant wait for you when in a vehicle? like you have to replace one of them to get in.. like at least tell me to bugger off man
All things considered you do have good points I mean I wanted a filter for my weapons cause one time I was looking for a certain weapon but couldn't cause of all the guns so yeah a filter or search bar would be nice
5:20 sorry to break it to you but HMG isnt meant to be used and is mostly stationary. 18:00 If u have 2 less points then the enemy your reinforsments will slowly deplete automatically. If you have 0 points you reinforsemts will deplete very quickly automatically.
Hey man, nice review! As a lot of people have said already, you deserve more subs. Also, at 2:55 is that the Lost Planet 2 soundtrack in the background? I can't quite work it out because the music is so quiet.
I'm yet to play the latest two updates. I'm sorta giving the game a little bit of time to mature and playing other games to fill the gap. I'll say that from what I've read the changes look good and I like the direction they're taking it. My only complaint is the supressed patriot, feels like there's practically no reason to use the quicksilver any more.
I agree with almost every point in your review, even the sound design part, but I have to ask, are you suprised that the suppressed weapons are silent? Suppressors are meant to do that and it's not a big surprise that you can hear unsilenced weapons over the silenced one in combat
The multiplayer mod being basically dead doesn't really bother me much. I'd mainly just want it to play COOP with a friend or two, the rest of the time I'd be doing single player. I loved the old multiplayer maps with bots the old Battlefield and Battlefront games had. How does the AI handle vehicles in this? Like in Battlefield 1942 the AI would constantly take my tanks when I got out to fix them then refuse to get out again.
Yeah, hats off to the dev. They fixed most of these problems (though the sound issues are still present its definitely much less so). When this game leaves early access I'll probably do an update video reviewing it in its 'complete' form.
@@4stringslayer well it's my first real video tbh, the other vids on this channel were just some experiment from a few years ago. The fact that I have over 30 subs now has left me flabbergasted
Oh damn, there's this modpack called the "secret" HDF testpack. It's WAY better than the other packs. A SHITLOAD of high quality guns and some vehicles.
I barely dissed it, in fact I'd say I gave this game a rave review. I think it's brilliant and unique. No game is perfect every game has its issues and it's an important part of a review to highlight both what makes a game great and what areas are lacking. My biggest issue with this game was sound design, then performance issues after that (but that was mostly a nitpick). Literally everything else about this game is amazing and gets my heartfelt recommendation.
I was mostly just trying to set a baseline for how the gunplay in this game feels. Best way to do that is to compare to a similar game. I was by no means saying Battlefield's gunplay is realistic, more that it's a close analogue with some differences. It felt like comparing it to a sim like Arma would've been pointless as the two games are on near opposite ends of the spectrum.
I find it very odd that you're complaining about the suppressed weapons being too quiet. They're SUPPRESSED. They're SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY. Period. Also, the nice thing about Ravenfield is that you can play your own music (I favor Battlefield and COD music). You didn't really mention that Steelraven7 intentionally left the game simple, paving the way for modders to hone their skills and learn how to mod in a relatively gentle environment. Steelraven7 pretty much designed the game so that modders could pick up where Steelraven7 left off. Now, the lag I don't really like, but that can be avoided by limiting the number of bots (or mods) downloaded. Your beef with the sounds isn't really understandable.
Also, for the mods, just favorite them. It's so much easier. You can just pick and choose which one you want to run, and as long as you don't put a ton of mods in the game, everything is easier on you and your pc.
I mean, I need to make it said that I fully recommended this game and even dedicated almost half of the video to how mod support for this game is a huge boon. My issue with supressed weapons is that they're so quiet you can't actually hear them at all in a fight when I'm literally holding and firing the weapon in my hands. Suppressors aren't magic they don't remove all sound, in fact supressed guns are actually still loud. But I'm not expecting realism, I just want better sound design, compare it to literally any other shooter and it becomes clear that the lackluster sound design is where this game falls short. Again, this game is amazing, I gave it a very positive review and I genuinely think this game is brilliant. But I can't just ignore negatives with this game. Part of reviewing anything is taking something as a whole, that includes the good and the bad. I covered everything good about this game from the gameplay to the flexibility and design. I also made sure to cover the game's flaws because no game is perfect. If I just covered all the good things and ignored the few downsides to this game I'd be doing viewers a disservice. I think my review was more than fair, I gave it a complete recommendation and it's one of my favourite games in early access right now. It's just not flawless, because no game is flawless.
@@RamblingRhetoric Hey man, your video highlighted most of the best features of the game and its playability on steam. I just had a couple of little niggles, but that's my personal opinion. While suppressors aren't magic they do significantly decrease the amount of sound, but the suppressors in game are a bit quiet. Maybe it's my speakers but I find that I can hear them fine. The sound design can use work in general, but I think that for a relatively simple game, Steelraven did a fairly good job (albeit he could have put more work into it but that was his choice. I appreciate how you didn't skimp on the critiques and (in your own words) didn't ignore negatives. This is a legitimate game review with legitimate critiques. While I disagreed with some of your comments, overall your review was extremely fair, going over the majority of the good points. Keep up the good work, and thank you for keeping this conversation polite and considerate. There is a sad lack of politeness on the internet. Overall, great job and continue with the reviews! I like your style.
It's honestly not even that any more. Every time I've checked the mod there's either 0 servers or 1 server with 1 person in it. It's completely dead these days
I disagree. If they go multiplayer and then nobody is online then people say "ded game" and go on about their business. It's a double-edged sword but I think for this type of game they will sell more by leaving it single player, especially if they can give it enough content.
This game isn’t for people like you - it’s for people that love making and simulating their own battles and making their own maps and stuff. Basically creative people not people who play CS GO

Fun fact:in beta 1 the ak-47 (known as the rk-44 ingame) had a more realistic sound but the sound was replaced in either beta 2 or 3
Solid video and flow, my boi. seems like a nice game to pickup once it has some extra polish added to it just for the insane modability. Wondering when someone will make a BOPS 1 Zombies mod. Probably already done.
There are mods based on COD zombies that use the games "haunted" mode, but I'm yet to try one.
guess what.... they have a multiplayer mod for the base game now and it is glorious
