The character names are based on their root game Dungeon and Fighter/Dungeon fighter online where they are all class subdivisions. Without getting too far into it, you can see that both Berserker and Ghost blade have a single colored arm because they both stem from the base Slayer class who's core backstory revolves around having a cursed arm. All characters in Dnf Duel save for the Lost warrior are base class advancements like this, with root backstories that diverge into specialties. Grappler and Striker (fighter), Enchantress and Swift master (mage), Crusader and Inquisitor (priest), Ranger and Launcher (gunner) are all examples of this, although there are deviations between male and female versions as well.

Oh wow what a surprise. I never thought you guys would react to this game. It is a spin off of a MMO game called Dungeon Fighter Online. The game has amazing characters and crazy ultimates. I highly recommend it if you guys interest to see more of DNF Dual characters in different game 😊

Ghostblade was my main. Sometimes I miss him. His ultimate was the coolest.
I was always the fighter in Dungeon Fighter Online. She's my gal. In this she's called "Striker" which was a subclass of the fighter that focused on basic attacks. Pretty sure that's why there's a guy called "Grappler". That was the other fighter subclass. Pretty cool. My girl's hair always looked long and thick but now, it could be a weapon. LoL :P
Dungeon Fighter Online (Dungeons and Fighters in korea) is one of my most favorite online games. DNF Duel has amazing characters, but this is only a fraction of how many classes are actually in the DFO universe. there are like, 15 Primary class characters and each class has 4-5 subclasses (with the exception of 2 main classes being standalone) its a super flashy anime style side scrolling beatem up game with awesome art, music and story. been playing it since it came out years ago
Oh damn. Well guess that means this game has a lot to grow into with even more classes to base characters off of 😀

This game was heavily hyped when it first released since it was another ArcSys project and related to a popular beat-em-up RPG MMO game (Dungeon Fighters Online).
As far as I know, the game itself is still going on somewhat strong, but with other popular fighting games making their way into the gamingsphere, it's a getting a bit overshadowed. Also changes to the game aren't happening fast enough for other people to wait for.
And just in case you missed one of the comments that mentioned it, the characters are all speaking Korean since this is a Korean based IP.
We did miss that comment so thanks for letting us know which language they are speaking 🙂

It's funny you called Trap Master the Dante of this world. While the similarities are there Ranger just is Dante pretty much. He has revolver versions of Ebony and Ivory, constantly is putting out one liners, and a number of his moves were just taken right from Dante in Marvel vs Capcom 3.
There’s three characters with Dante moves in the game. Hitman and Troubleshooter have Dante moves but more his sword ones. Ranger has all of Dante’s gun moves
I'll say, the "aerial spinning while shooting straight down" attack the Ranger does at 7:15 is straight-up Dante's "Rainstorm" move. Never played this but I'm guessing Ranger is just Dante locked into Gunslinger as a character?
Grandblue Fantasy Versus would be another great one to do this for!

Though this is based on dungeon beat em up mmo, this was developed by Ark Systems work who created Guilty Gear. Personally, I liked using Crusader, Kunoichi, and Grappler.

okay Dungeon Fighter Online player here (ive only got one lvl71 berserker character so i suck but yeah) and I can tell you these characters are all the fully maxed-out versions of the classes in game. And they're all speaking korean as expected.

Dungeon n Fighter (KR) or Dungeon Fighter Online (NA) is a fun game that is entirely free to play, gameplay is beat'em up style (Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, TMNT, Final Fight, etc). Easy to get into, I got my friend into the game, and she was very much addicted that she would often ask to borrow my laptop just to play the game with me.
This game is lit for sure my picks would be berserk,crusader, kunoichi, ranger who kinda reminds me of Dante from devil may cry and vanguard

Not really fighting suggestion, but you liked Total War Three Kingdoms some time ago. May i suggest Dynasty Warriors (All Openings) or Dynasty Warriors 8 All Characters? It's hack'n'slash about same time period but, of course with less realism and more "murder thousand+ mooks" style

"like the Ryu of the game" More like the Gouki. He can eat your entire lifebar from full health, and is prolly gonna get nerfed hard, through that said this game allows pretty gnarly setups from the entire cast. The MMO has... almost 15 jobs per archetype so here may be a LOT of characters coming down the pipe depending on how much money Nexon is willing to spend.
I prefer Dungeon Fighter Online despite not having the client installed right now (hard drive limitations - it's taking forever to get a desktop again) and dropping out of that game for long periods due to the whole "have to relearn all the moves to really start playing again" deal. That said, if this game absorbed some of the PvP attention it'll be worth it.
