Sol Badguy's backstory is both really sad but also really funny. Funny because he's actually a massive dork. He's got this whole badass vibe but he's actually a scientist. He proposed to his wife with a fucking computer program error message. He has a degree in particle physics. He made his own weapon not because he needed one but he wanted a hobby. And his real name isn't Sol Badguy. It's fucking Fred. Imagine picking a fighting game character called Fred.

Some notes about the characters. Leo is actually a lot sadder than you might think. During one of the biggest wars, the soldiers he led, all died. He got some major PTSD from it, in his theme he multiple times asks for forgiveness and to be "let out of this hell". Basically whenever he fights, he has two goals. Beat the opponent or die. Ky was also in that war, but because he's a devout Christian, just carved 'hope' on his belt. Zato isn't that much better, when he made a pact with his shadow buddy (Eddy btw), he lost his eyes. But I think Eddy can see for him, he apparently can use a computer no problem. But, Millia amd Zato were once lovers. Until plot reasons happened and Millia killed Zato. Eddy then takes over his body for a while until Zato is brought back to life. After being in GG version of hell, Zato lost his ability to feel emotions. All but for one exception. Millia is the only person who can make him feel anything, so his only drive to go forward is to protect the person who killed him. Heavy spoilers Axl and I-no are in a weird way the same person.
@DissedRedEngie I might be wrong on this but for Axl and I-No they are actually from the same timeline and we're lovers but both were changed (especially I-No) when thrown into the main timeline and can hardly remember/know each other,you can get alot of hints of this when watching the strive story
I recently fell down this rabbit hole, heard some music in a meme. Looked up the music. $60 for an album with a fighting game attached is a pretty good deal. I play Anji, his gimmick is that his specials all start with an invincible spin that all look the same. You are essentially putting a gun to your opponents head and forcing them to play Rock Paper Scissors.

Two things, first Faust has a name for the Mother of all Scalpels he uses "Margarita" and second, Season two was announced at EVO recently with a returning character "Bridget". She's been a heavily requested character since the early Guilty Gear games and her return is something.

The freeze thing is a wallsplat. It’s a universal mechanic and if you hit a splatted opponent you wallbreak. It’s the main tool this game uses to keep combos from going on forever
The thing with Baiken it's that she's missing an eye and an arm, using her empty sleeve to store multiple weapons, which includes a claw on a chain, a big blade, a spiked club, a cannon, a shotgun and a rope that she can use to tie herself closer to the opponent Also, Happy Chaos is pretty much in-universe one of the strongest beings around, the strongest being I-No. But he just wants to do whatever he wants, and uses guns just because they look cool. Also, there's Axl Low, who is also crazy powerful because of his time powers, but he's one of the good guys, so people don't consider him a threat. For some reason, Faust went from "nice, wacky comic relief crazy doctor" to "creepy crazy doctor who tries to be funny". He has a super where he accidentally tackles the opponent down to gaze at a four-leaf clover, but sees the downed opponent and grabbing a wheelchair, rushing in to help... But ends up accidentally hitting the wheelchair right on the opponent's leg, causing them to funnily contort their faces in pain
So Happy Chaos, the guy at 17:15, is one of the most powerful magic users in the series and is incredibly dangerous. Funnily enough though, as soon as he was released from his box prison, he found a gun and a cool jacket and just went with it. Guy’s awesome. Also I believe Testament is nonbinary
So some random, unsolicited fun facts. You probably wouldn't guess it, but lore-wise the most powerful character in the roster is... I-no. Happy Chaos is a close second, but only because he absorbed half of I-no's power to stop her from transcending time and destroying existence. Perhaps even more strangely, Axl Low is also one of the most powerful characters in the series due to his time-manipulation powers, but none of the characters consider him a threat because he's such a nice guy. Speaking of Happy Chaos, unlike most villains he doesn't really have an end goal or huge ambition. He only does what he does to alleviate his boredom. He even deliberately leaves holes in his plans because it's more fun that way. In the previous games, Faust was BY FAR the goofiest character and was basically almost entirely comic relief. Between games he went through....something that turned him into what he is now. Look back at him in your Guilty Gear Xrd video and compare that to him now. Testament as the 5th DLC character was a massive but not unwelcome surprise for most fans. For comparison, Goldlewis and Happy Chaos are new characters from the story mode, while Jack-o and Baiken were in the previous game. Testament, on the other hand, hadn't appeared in the series for nearly two decades. The series is filled with references to real-life rock and heavy metal bands. For example, Axl Low is named after Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, and Sol Badguy has numerous references to Queen, such as his real name being Frederick and his headband having "Rock you" carved into it
Happy Chaos leaving holes in his plan is pretty fun. That could lead to some good comedy 😂 wish more games did cinematics like Overwatch and Apex Legends to where they go over lore, backstory and such 🙂
Faust’s Wheelchair super causes each character to have a different facial expression as the wheelchair hits their shin. His old super in its place was him teleporting behind the opponent to ram 2 fingers up their ass. Again, each character has a unique reaction, ranging from pain to anger to embarrassment to even arousal in Ino’s case. Faust was much more comedic in the older games and the horror angle is new.
My all-time favorite character in the Guilty Gear series is Dizzy, she is very innocent to that of a child who does not want to hurt anyone but because of what she is she can essentially go berserk and become a merciless individual, at least that's what I got from her lore, I hope they add her to the Strive roster at some point.

Minor correction, Testament is not referred to as "he" anywhere in official sources. It has been a common misconception for a long time that Testament goes by he/him when in reality they go by they/them. They're agender. Whether this is a result of the Gear process is unknown, but likely not as there are gendered Gears like Sol, Sin and Dizzy.
Some corrections: Ky is not married to a machine. The Gears are not machines. They are artificially created, but they’re organic, living creatures. Ramlethal was created by the Universal Will, not Valentine. The original Valentine was created by the Universal Will in the same way Ramlethal was, but long before her Testament was not created by Justice. He was under her control for a time, but his origins and birth have nothing to do with her

Ramlethal (and Elphelt) call Valentine their "mother" in xrd Testament was technically a gear made from the remnants of Justice and the Megadeath-class Gear that destroyed britain.

Loved this video! Happy to see you guys getting into more Anime stuff. Guilty Gear is a special type of fighting game. Theres a lot of passion put into the personality, character lore, and of course the music. Each character has a theme song describing the character and their goals. Their album is actually on Spotify if you guys like rock music.
The entire guilty gear franchise is built on Rock and Roll. All the characters and the names of their moves are based on real life rock and roll songs and bands. The creator of the series even makes the rock and roll soundtrack himself.
Guilty Gear is one of my favorite fighting games of all time. It's SO fun to play and the characters are crazy. The music is a total blast too. Giovanna came out in Strive and she VERY quickly became one of my favorite characters. I just got done customizing my arcade fight stick with art of her.

Hell yeah so glad Bethany, drafted majority of my favorites from the cast Giovanna being my main, I-No, Potemkin and Testament being my second picks. Here's hoping these characters peaks your interest in story of the series, because it's kinda nutty. Like how the story is set in a timeline where what if Y2K actually happened.
It's either Jack-O or Baiken that's may favorite character, but Testament has also been really fun to play. If you guys enjoy Guilty Gear I'd also recommend checking out Blazblue: Central Fiction. Another very over the top anime styled fighter developed by Arcsys. The Astral Finishers (Super Moves) can be a real treat experiencing them for the first time with no context.
You should do a video listening to their theme songs! This games music has so much personality and you can get a lot about the characters from listening to the themes too Although some of them are a bit confusing There's a good play list on TH-cam that has the songs and lyrics over the gameplay made by someone named CloudDrop They're really well edited and if you do choose to listen to them for a video I would highly recommend their Playlist!

Happy Chaos is easily my favorite, he’s laid back and apathetic, but ruthless with his execution, and follows his own rules that drastically oppose whoever he meets, making him Happy and also Chaotic, and also he plays a pretty badass game with those guns

Love this franchise and glad you featured it. I think you all would have fun with a BlazBlue draft. I think the last installment has the most characters which would be fun to watch. Especially since I think their characters are just as wild as Guilty Gear.
I'm glad you guys got around to Guilty Gear Strive. It has the coolest characters of any fighting game and their current iterations are by far the best looking (and most cohesive as a roster) that the series has ever seen. The soundtrack is amazing as well, so I highly recommend checking out all the character tracks.

I love happy chaos. He’s the strongest magic user in existence can break the 4rth wall and address the player and literally only causes chaos in the story mode for “the drama”. All of that and he chooses to just use a gun. A great character

Videos for these things should be easy to find but for samsho character trailers all I could find was a playlist of all trailers and not a video of them spliced together but shouldn't be too much difference. This is cool to see just how the trailers did in showing the flavor of the characters. I think they did great with some and meh with others. Good representation was probably: May, I-no, Testament, Giovanna More cloudy representation was probably: Ramlethal, Baiken, Zato (although you guys picked up more than I would have thought), Nagoriuki Most of this is understandable, because the characters have a lot going on. For example it might be hard to explain Ramlethal's character arc/state in 30 seconds. On the other hand, another example, im not sure either of you picked up that Baiken needed to unsheathe her sword with her mouth because shes missing an arm. They could have had better conveyance there for sure. I had a lot of fun seeing your reactions to the characters!

As a Zato main I'm so curious to see your take on some of the theme songs. They literally are all bangers but Zato's in particular is a punch to the heart if you understand the lyrics and context.
This was fun. Had some unexpected picks like Ken going for Ky and Milia and Beth going for Sol, Nagoriyuki & Potemkin. It also sucks that the trailers for the characters in the base roster were so short and had no dialogue from the characters.
Millia and Giovanna are easily my mains in this game. I don't play as much as I did before but I honestly kinda miss it. Y'all's reactions just might make me pick it up again and refresh myself.
So...as I said on the Xrd All Instakills video, here's the story recap: Sol Badguy is a former scientist and half-Gear who studied the creation of biomechanical weapons of mass destruction named Gears. He's pretty much immortal and ages very slowly. Ky is his friend from the Crusades against Gears and the one who helped him destroy Justice. Aria is Sol's girlfriend which That Man transformed her into a gear named Justice just to piss Sol off. Dizzy is Justice's daughter but she didn't appear in this game. Aria would then be later resurrected as Jack-O since her DNA was used to create Ramlethal Valentine (alongside Elphelt and the original Valentine which the latter Sol destroyed). That Man is Sol's scientist colleague turned antagonist...though his goals are as noble as they are mysterious.... Chipp Zanuff is the Japan-obsessed druggie turned Japan-obsessed US president (with Answer as his staff manager) May - Johnny's second in command of the Jellyfish Pirates crew. Testament - The gear who was obsessed with taking Dizzy away from Johnny's crew. He looks pretty dapper here. Faust is the flawless doctor who went mad once a little girl died and he went on a rampage. From what we see so far this is him (as Dr. Baidhead) before he found out the truth of the girl being assassinated. Axl Low - The Time traveler from the past who is Raven's alter ego. Potemkin - Subordinate of Gabriel who is a friend of Slayer and the leader of the flying nation named Zepp. He was freed from enslavement by Gabriel. Leo Whitefang - Him with Ky co-rule a nation. I-No - That Man's subordinate and Sol's rival. Baiken - Hates Gears and That Man. Lost her arm and eye as a young girl...when the gears attacked.. Anji Mito - A Japanese person who escape the reservation/colony of his country to fight. - Millia Rage and Zato-1(leader) are assassins from the Assassin Guild founded by Slayer and Venom loves Zato-1 as well. The new characters that didn't appear in any Guilty Gear game prior to this: Nagoriyuki - He's a vampire samurai Goldlewis Dickinson - No introduction needed. Happy Chaos - Could possibly be Bedman resurrected after he lost the fight against Venom and Robo-Ky and after being betrayed by the main villain in Xrd 2...ending with him turned to stone and dust since he couldnt be awake in real life due to his condition. He has a younger sister named Delilah. Giovanna - No intro needed. Her wolf's cool tho.
The world of guilty gear is essentially like, Y2K would have been an extinction level event for all of humanity due to the manifestation of "the greater will" in all technology, whose goal it is to wipe out humanity, this leads to all traditional technology being forbidden by the worlds government as to not incur the greater will and as such all technology was replaced by magic based systems, which is why they still have computers and shit despite there being a ban on technology, and even then, the flying airship nation of zepp still uses traditional technology away from the rest of the world, zepp is also where Potemkin is from, that is one aspect of the lore and world building and is an example of how crazy and awesome guilty gear is as a series that manages to be goofy and over the top while still operating in serious circumstances
So 2 fun facts. Baiken is actually a one armed samurai. Her missing arm being replaced with a chain. While, Testament is actually Non-Binary. Confirmed by the creator himself.
an often overlook character element is Axl Low is meant to be based on Axl Rose from Guns and Roses - the designers like using bands and singers as inspiration or as references like the aforementioned Sol - Queen/Freddie Mercury. Random note i was very surprised with Potemkin's look in the current series as in the older ones he was almost hulk like in his look but i guess he got promoted - his backstory was he is a bio-engineered slave soldier and his old look had him topless save for massive collar/shoulder harness which was part armor part means of keeping him in line if need be.

A lot of people mentioned to react to the character theme songs for good reason, GG lore is confusing but the songs do a good job of expressing the characters feeling, struggles or backstory

One thing about guilty gear strive...i tend to main all female characters, millia is my 1st main, then I'm thinking of adding jack o, may, ramlethal, testament, baiken, ino, and giovanna to the list
Testament and Nagoriyuki are definitely my two favorites. Also, fun facts: Testament is nonbinary and like 80 years old, and Nagoriyuki is a vampire with a blood sucking sword.
Baiken's boobs growing in each game is kind of a running gag. They were pretty normal in the original PS1 game but in her artwork here she's got two extra heads. In-game it's the same as Xrd (which you reacted to).
Guilty Gear lore is such a trip. I mean Ky is married to a 4-year-old (with the body of a 20-year-old and i swear it's not creepy) and has a kid born from her eye who is now king of a nation. And he is not the weirdest character in the series. The Team Red thing is Acr has Team Red that works on Guilty Gear and similar games and Team Blue that works on Blazeblue which is more of a 2D sprite based game. Both do some good work but their work with Dragonball Fighterz and Strive really put them in a league of their own. Strive's animation for a 3D game is insane (at least in the game bit). It's not as flashy as some other games but the techincal work put in tops a lot of animated shows which is impressive in a setting where you can't prerender everything. Also, it's kind of a running gag but Baiken's cup size kind of grows with each game she's in it seems. And Testament officially doesn't have a gender. Or is both genders. Even in the voice acting their English voice is masculine and Japanese it's feminine. Also, their theme song constantly switches pronouns every line. The team likes to play around alot.

Sol Badguy's backstory is both really sad but also really funny. Funny because he's actually a massive dork. He's got this whole badass vibe but he's actually a scientist. He proposed to his wife with a fucking computer program error message. He has a degree in particle physics. He made his own weapon not because he needed one but he wanted a hobby. And his real name isn't Sol Badguy. It's fucking Fred. Imagine picking a fighting game character called Fred.

-Jack-O: an artificial life created using half of Aria’s soul. Aria was Sol’s lover who died from a terminal illness and was used to create the first Perfect Gear, Justice, who later started the war against humanity before the very first Guilty Gear game.

Some notes about the characters.
Leo is actually a lot sadder than you might think. During one of the biggest wars, the soldiers he led, all died. He got some major PTSD from it, in his theme he multiple times asks for forgiveness and to be "let out of this hell". Basically whenever he fights, he has two goals. Beat the opponent or die. Ky was also in that war, but because he's a devout Christian, just carved 'hope' on his belt.
Zato isn't that much better, when he made a pact with his shadow buddy (Eddy btw), he lost his eyes. But I think Eddy can see for him, he apparently can use a computer no problem. But, Millia amd Zato were once lovers. Until plot reasons happened and Millia killed Zato. Eddy then takes over his body for a while until Zato is brought back to life. After being in GG version of hell, Zato lost his ability to feel emotions. All but for one exception. Millia is the only person who can make him feel anything, so his only drive to go forward is to protect the person who killed him.

Axl and I-no are in a weird way the same person.

I play Anji, his gimmick is that his specials all start with an invincible spin that all look the same. You are essentially putting a gun to your opponents head and forcing them to play Rock Paper Scissors.

Two things, first Faust has a name for the Mother of all Scalpels he uses "Margarita" and second, Season two was announced at EVO recently with a returning character "Bridget". She's been a heavily requested character since the early Guilty Gear games and her return is something.

The freeze thing is a wallsplat. It’s a universal mechanic and if you hit a splatted opponent you wallbreak. It’s the main tool this game uses to keep combos from going on forever
The thing with Baiken it's that she's missing an eye and an arm, using her empty sleeve to store multiple weapons, which includes a claw on a chain, a big blade, a spiked club, a cannon, a shotgun and a rope that she can use to tie herself closer to the opponent
Also, Happy Chaos is pretty much in-universe one of the strongest beings around, the strongest being I-No. But he just wants to do whatever he wants, and uses guns just because they look cool. Also, there's Axl Low, who is also crazy powerful because of his time powers, but he's one of the good guys, so people don't consider him a threat.
For some reason, Faust went from "nice, wacky comic relief crazy doctor" to "creepy crazy doctor who tries to be funny". He has a super where he accidentally tackles the opponent down to gaze at a four-leaf clover, but sees the downed opponent and grabbing a wheelchair, rushing in to help... But ends up accidentally hitting the wheelchair right on the opponent's leg, causing them to funnily contort their faces in pain
Haha, that Faust super is crazy. Fun whacky game. Dare I say. Kooky and crazy 😛
So Happy Chaos, the guy at 17:15, is one of the most powerful magic users in the series and is incredibly dangerous. Funnily enough though, as soon as he was released from his box prison, he found a gun and a cool jacket and just went with it. Guy’s awesome.

So some random, unsolicited fun facts.
You probably wouldn't guess it, but lore-wise the most powerful character in the roster is... I-no. Happy Chaos is a close second, but only because he absorbed half of I-no's power to stop her from transcending time and destroying existence. Perhaps even more strangely, Axl Low is also one of the most powerful characters in the series due to his time-manipulation powers, but none of the characters consider him a threat because he's such a nice guy.
Speaking of Happy Chaos, unlike most villains he doesn't really have an end goal or huge ambition. He only does what he does to alleviate his boredom. He even deliberately leaves holes in his plans because it's more fun that way.
In the previous games, Faust was BY FAR the goofiest character and was basically almost entirely comic relief. Between games he went through....something that turned him into what he is now. Look back at him in your Guilty Gear Xrd video and compare that to him now.
Testament as the 5th DLC character was a massive but not unwelcome surprise for most fans. For comparison, Goldlewis and Happy Chaos are new characters from the story mode, while Jack-o and Baiken were in the previous game. Testament, on the other hand, hadn't appeared in the series for nearly two decades.
The series is filled with references to real-life rock and heavy metal bands. For example, Axl Low is named after Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, and Sol Badguy has numerous references to Queen, such as his real name being Frederick and his headband having "Rock you" carved into it
Happy Chaos leaving holes in his plan is pretty fun. That could lead to some good comedy 😂 wish more games did cinematics like Overwatch and Apex Legends to where they go over lore, backstory and such 🙂

Faust’s Wheelchair super causes each character to have a different facial expression as the wheelchair hits their shin. His old super in its place was him teleporting behind the opponent to ram 2 fingers up their ass. Again, each character has a unique reaction, ranging from pain to anger to embarrassment to even arousal in Ino’s case. Faust was much more comedic in the older games and the horror angle is new.
We were told they have videos of everyone’s reaction to it which is pretty fun 🙂
My all-time favorite character in the Guilty Gear series is Dizzy, she is very innocent to that of a child who does not want to hurt anyone but because of what she is she can essentially go berserk and become a merciless individual, at least that's what I got from her lore, I hope they add her to the Strive roster at some point.

- Sol is a reference to Queen, in both character name (Bad Guy was Freddie Mercury's nickname) and character's real name, Fredrick Bulsara (Freddie Mercury's real name)

- May is from a group of pirates named after months
- Chipp is a recovering drug addict who bought a country and trained to be a ninja
- Zato 1 and Eddie (his shadow thing) are both canonically dead and resurrected
- Potemkin was a slave soldier responsible for liberating an entire country
- Axl Lowe can stop time, and comes from 1999
- Ramlethal is a shard of a computer demigod named Valentine. She *was* going to destroy humanity until she found pleasures in petting dogs and eating burgers.
- Faust was a doctor who went a little nuts after someone died on his operating table through no fault of his own
- Leo Whitefang is a king of a country, who has severe PTSD and survivor's guilt from the crusades (a war between humans and gears). He also has his own dictionary.
- Nagoriyuki is a straight up vampire
- Millia Rage's hair is alive
- I-No caused a bit of controversy on launch, with a voiceline where she says "Be my bottom bitch"
- Anji ruined everything because he was curious
- Baiken is from Japan, a country that was atomized in GG's lore, making her a fugitive
- Giovanna's theme is near identical to Sabotage by the Beastie Boys
- Testament is a shard of Justice, the original Gear that went all Skynet and attempted to wipe out humanity. He later turned pacifist and stayed in the woods.
- Goldlewis has one move and it's a banger
and finally;
- Happy Chaos is an immortal wizard who uses a gun because it's funny. He doesn't fight for a reason, it's just something to do. Also, his theme has a "disney princess" vibe to it.
Edit: I forgot Jack-O. Jack-O is technically a clone of Sol's dead wife
Minor correction, Testament is not referred to as "he" anywhere in official sources. It has been a common misconception for a long time that Testament goes by he/him when in reality they go by they/them. They're agender. Whether this is a result of the Gear process is unknown, but likely not as there are gendered Gears like Sol, Sin and Dizzy.
Some corrections:
Ky is not married to a machine. The Gears are not machines. They are artificially created, but they’re organic, living creatures.
Ramlethal was created by the Universal Will, not Valentine. The original Valentine was created by the Universal Will in the same way Ramlethal was, but long before her
Testament was not created by Justice. He was under her control for a time, but his origins and birth have nothing to do with her

Guilty Gear is a special type of fighting game. Theres a lot of passion put into the personality, character lore, and of course the music.
Each character has a theme song describing the character and their goals. Their album is actually on Spotify if you guys like rock music.

The entire guilty gear franchise is built on Rock and Roll. All the characters and the names of their moves are based on real life rock and roll songs and bands. The creator of the series even makes the rock and roll soundtrack himself.

Guilty Gear is one of my favorite fighting games of all time. It's SO fun to play and the characters are crazy. The music is a total blast too. Giovanna came out in Strive and she VERY quickly became one of my favorite characters. I just got done customizing my arcade fight stick with art of her.

Happy chaos looked at the normal world, said "fuck it" added magic to it, then gave that magic to humans, so he would use his magic in game right? After all he is the most powerful magic user in the setting (to my knowledge). Nope, he rolls up with a gun and caps you cause using his magic would be boring to him
He did save the world from a new dark age when he was a sane human, but otherwise that’s about right. Afterwards he disappeared and became Chaos

If you guys enjoy Guilty Gear I'd also recommend checking out Blazblue: Central Fiction. Another very over the top anime styled fighter developed by Arcsys. The Astral Finishers (Super Moves) can be a real treat experiencing them for the first time with no context.

Happy Chaos is easily my favorite, he’s laid back and apathetic, but ruthless with his execution, and follows his own rules that drastically oppose whoever he meets, making him Happy and also Chaotic, and also he plays a pretty badass game with those guns

Love this franchise and glad you featured it. I think you all would have fun with a BlazBlue draft. I think the last installment has the most characters which would be fun to watch. Especially since I think their characters are just as wild as Guilty Gear.

I'm glad you guys got around to Guilty Gear Strive. It has the coolest characters of any fighting game and their current iterations are by far the best looking (and most cohesive as a roster) that the series has ever seen. The soundtrack is amazing as well, so I highly recommend checking out all the character tracks.

Control of these abilities came only after he destroyed one of those timelines. *Faust* : Formerly a renowned chinese surgeon capable of bringing the dead back to life. lost his mind and became a serial killer after a young girl died on his operating table. later learned that the operation was sabotaged as part of a plan to seize his research. now wandering the earth as a quack doctor hoping to atone for his actions
*Millia Rage* : Former assassin of russian descent. currently head of an information brokerage agency that was formerly the assassin's syndicate she was abducted into after killing it's leader at the time. Forced to wield Angra, one of the 6 Forbidden Beasts which is a parasite that manifests as her hair at the cost of something.
*Zato=1* : Spaniard. Former leader of an assassin's syndicate that was involved with political manipulation of the usa. killed by Millia Rage after years of training her as an assassin and some implied sexual grooming. Currently working under supervision as a special military operations leader for the United Kingdom of Illyria and seeking to better understand humanity as a species. Inferred to be Sol Badguy's half-sister as a result of the organism data template used to create her
*Leo Whitefang* : Second King of the United Kingdom of Illyria. German descent. Commanding officer of the now defunct Sacred Order of Holy Knights during the Crusades against the Gears. Extremely cautious when charged with the supervision and leadership of subordinates but is known to fling himself at enemies in combat with complete disregard for his own safety. Currently writing his own dictionary.
*Nagoriyuki* : African vampire samurai. High respect for the Japanese people and their culture as well as history. Implied to have once been a retainer for Oda Nobunaga making him over half a millenia old at a minimum
*Giovanna* : Secret service agent for the usa. Brazilian descent. tends to do nothing whenever possible but will do literally anything as quickly as possible so that she can get right back to doing nothing at all. Currently hunting for a husband and is implied that her sights recently have fallen upon Leo Whitefang as a potential suitor
*Anji Mito* : Japanese man currently roaming the world in an attempt to satiate his curious nature and wanderlust. Escapee of a Japanese refuge colony designed to imprison and observe those of Japanese descent following the inciting events that lead to the Crusades against the Gears. Currently working with Chipp Zanuff, presumably to educate Chipp on Japanese culture
*I-no* : Time traveling witch of dubious origin. Alleged extradimensional entity created by another extradimensional entity using a british woman's information template in order to discard human thought data. possesses unclear memories of a former life and no knowledge of how she herself came to be. Unstable mental state and extremely volatile personality. Vaguely remembers a promise she once made to a lover lost to time.
*Goldlewis Dickinson* : Secretary of Defense of the usa. Denies the existence of aliens and secretly harbors dissatisfaction with the bureaucratic operations of his job and the country as a whole but unwilling to use his position to push for change
*Jack-0 Valentine* : A rushed artificial human created using Aria Hale's fragmented information and memory template sourced from an extradimensional information space in order to act as a countermeasure against the threat of a malicious extradimensional entity as well as provide Sol Badguy time with the closest approximation that could be created of the woman he loved and lost. Currently in the care of Sol Badguy, trying to become her own person, separate from what she was created to be and independent of the person that Aria Hale was.
*Happy Chaos* : The first human to make contact with an extradimensional space. Inferred to be well over a thousand years old and the first person to use that extradimensional space for his own purposes. Responsible for setting up the events that lead to the Crusades against the Gears and the architect of many subsequent events in the Guilty Gears series currently. Motivated by whims and constantly seeking ways to keep humanity evolving and changing, for better or worse. Although perhaps preferably for the better in his eyes.
*Baiken* : Wandering Japanese samurai woman. Survivor of a Gear attack in which she lost her left eye and right arm. Seeks vengeance against the one responsible for the events that lead to the Crusades against the Gears. Extremely irritable and a heavy drinker. Prone to getting into fights with strangers often. The only person who's been able to reason with her effectively is Anji Mito which has enabled her to more easily approach other people albeit tensely.
*Testament* : Sexually androgynous Gear hybrid. Formerly a pacifist human knight of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Was killed during the Crusades against the Gears but was resurrected with an experimental Gear conversion procedure in the hopes of using Gear biology against the Gears. It did not work. Currently associated with the Jellyfish Pirates and is traveling the world looking for purpose

I love happy chaos. He’s the strongest magic user in existence can break the 4rth wall and address the player and literally only causes chaos in the story mode for “the drama”. All of that and he chooses to just use a gun. A great character

So after having one of your videos recommended to me last week I have caught up with your fighting game content. I have some ideas for future videos, there's quite a few (if you've heard some before I apologise). So reaction ideas:
- Samurai Shodown (2019) all character trailers

- Soul Calibur 6 al critical edges, intros and win poses
- All Tekken 3 endings
- All Tekken 5 endings
- All Tekken Tag Tournament 2 endings
- Street Fighter X Tekken trailers (be careful pretty sure they contain copyrighted music)
- All Tekken opening cinematics (that being the thing that plays wen you turn on the game before you get to the main menu)

I know thats alot of suggestions but while binging your content I didn't want to suggest a thing here and there as it came to mind, so decided to write a list of them. Videos for these things should be easy to find but for samsho character trailers all I could find was a playlist of all trailers and not a video of them spliced together but shouldn't be too much difference.

This is cool to see just how the trailers did in showing the flavor of the characters. I think they did great with some and meh with others.

More cloudy representation was probably: Ramlethal, Baiken, Zato (although you guys picked up more than I would have thought), Nagoriuki
Most of this is understandable, because the characters have a lot going on. For example it might be hard to explain Ramlethal's character arc/state in 30 seconds. On the other hand, another example, im not sure either of you picked up that Baiken needed to unsheathe her sword with her mouth because shes missing an arm. They could have had better conveyance there for sure.

As a Zato main I'm so curious to see your take on some of the theme songs. They literally are all bangers but Zato's in particular is a punch to the heart if you understand the lyrics and context.

This was fun. Had some unexpected picks like Ken going for Ky and Milia and Beth going for Sol, Nagoriyuki & Potemkin.
It also sucks that the trailers for the characters in the base roster were so short and had no dialogue from the characters.
We would’ve liked them to be longer but they were still very enjoyable and we had fun with this draft 🙂

So...as I said on the Xrd All Instakills video, here's the story recap:
Sol Badguy is a former scientist and half-Gear who studied the creation of biomechanical weapons of mass destruction named Gears. He's pretty much immortal and ages very slowly.
Ky is his friend from the Crusades against Gears and the one who helped him destroy Justice.
Aria is Sol's girlfriend which That Man transformed her into a gear named Justice just to piss Sol off.
Dizzy is Justice's daughter but she didn't appear in this game. Aria would then be later resurrected as Jack-O since her DNA was used to create Ramlethal Valentine (alongside Elphelt and the original Valentine which the latter Sol destroyed).
That Man is Sol's scientist colleague turned antagonist...though his goals are as noble as they are mysterious....
Chipp Zanuff is the Japan-obsessed druggie turned Japan-obsessed US president (with Answer as his staff manager)
May - Johnny's second in command of the Jellyfish Pirates crew.
Testament - The gear who was obsessed with taking Dizzy away from Johnny's crew. He looks pretty dapper here.
Faust is the flawless doctor who went mad once a little girl died and he went on a rampage. From what we see so far this is him (as Dr. Baidhead) before he found out the truth of the girl being assassinated.
Axl Low - The Time traveler from the past who is Raven's alter ego.
Potemkin - Subordinate of Gabriel who is a friend of Slayer and the leader of the flying nation named Zepp. He was freed from enslavement by Gabriel.
Leo Whitefang - Him with Ky co-rule a nation.
I-No - That Man's subordinate and Sol's rival.
Baiken - Hates Gears and That Man. Lost her arm and eye as a young girl...when the gears attacked..
Anji Mito - A Japanese person who escape the reservation/colony of his country to fight.
- Millia Rage and Zato-1(leader) are assassins from the Assassin Guild founded by Slayer and Venom loves Zato-1 as well.
The new characters that didn't appear in any Guilty Gear game prior to this:
Nagoriyuki - He's a vampire samurai
Goldlewis Dickinson - No introduction needed.
Happy Chaos - Could possibly be Bedman resurrected after he lost the fight against Venom and Robo-Ky and after being betrayed by the main villain in Xrd 2...ending with him turned to stone and dust since he couldnt be awake in real life due to his condition. He has a younger sister named Delilah.
Giovanna - No intro needed. Her wolf's cool tho.

The world of guilty gear is essentially like, Y2K would have been an extinction level event for all of humanity due to the manifestation of "the greater will" in all technology, whose goal it is to wipe out humanity, this leads to all traditional technology being forbidden by the worlds government as to not incur the greater will and as such all technology was replaced by magic based systems, which is why they still have computers and shit despite there being a ban on technology, and even then, the flying airship nation of zepp still uses traditional technology away from the rest of the world, zepp is also where Potemkin is from, that is one aspect of the lore and world building and is an example of how crazy and awesome guilty gear is as a series that manages to be goofy and over the top while still operating in serious circumstances

an often overlook character element is Axl Low is meant to be based on Axl Rose from Guns and Roses - the designers like using bands and singers as inspiration or as references like the aforementioned Sol - Queen/Freddie Mercury. Random note i was very surprised with Potemkin's look in the current series as in the older ones he was almost hulk like in his look but i guess he got promoted - his backstory was he is a bio-engineered slave soldier and his old look had him topless save for massive collar/shoulder harness which was part armor part means of keeping him in line if need be.

Oh! Also, Super Robot Wars attack animations. Specifically SRW Alpha 3, SRW OG2 any of the PS4 versions.
I don't know if either of you have ever heard of super robot Warriors by among the giant robot community it is a game that is well known for its absolutely ridiculous attack animations and I think you both would really enjoy it

A lot of people mentioned to react to the character theme songs for good reason, GG lore is confusing but the songs do a good job of expressing the characters feeling, struggles or backstory

I wouldn’t say it like that, more like every character song has lyrics describes them, From May (the girl with the anchor) is about her love for Jonny( the guy with sun glasses from the Xrd game) or Leo Whitefang that is about survival’s guilt
Ken snatching up Ramlethal, Happy Chaos and Baiken might give him some of the strongest guys in the series

My favorite characters have to be: Baiken, Nagoriyuki, Chipp, Potemkin, and Jack-O

Maybe one night, you guys can watch Guilty Gear Strive’s movie. Lol It’s no fights, just pure cutscenes. All put together quite nice and adds up to about 4 1/2 - 5 hours. I forget. But yeah, that’s for a movie night thing when you’re not busy lol
We may end up playing through the story at some point once we get to know the characters more 🙂

One thing about guilty gear strive...i tend to main all female characters, millia is my 1st main, then I'm thinking of adding jack o, may, ramlethal, testament, baiken, ino, and giovanna to the list

Testament and Nagoriyuki are definitely my two favorites. Also, fun facts: Testament is nonbinary and like 80 years old, and Nagoriyuki is a vampire with a blood sucking sword.

Baiken's boobs growing in each game is kind of a running gag. They were pretty normal in the original PS1 game but in her artwork here she's got two extra heads. In-game it's the same as Xrd (which you reacted to).

Guilty Gear lore is such a trip. I mean Ky is married to a 4-year-old (with the body of a 20-year-old and i swear it's not creepy) and has a kid born from her eye who is now king of a nation. And he is not the weirdest character in the series. The Team Red thing is Acr has Team Red that works on Guilty Gear and similar games and Team Blue that works on Blazeblue which is more of a 2D sprite based game. Both do some good work but their work with Dragonball Fighterz and Strive really put them in a league of their own. Strive's animation for a 3D game is insane (at least in the game bit). It's not as flashy as some other games but the techincal work put in tops a lot of animated shows which is impressive in a setting where you can't prerender everything.
Also, it's kind of a running gag but Baiken's cup size kind of grows with each game she's in it seems. And Testament officially doesn't have a gender. Or is both genders. Even in the voice acting their English voice is masculine and Japanese it's feminine. Also, their theme song constantly switches pronouns every line. The team likes to play around alot.
