In the refs defense, the Pistons are going to the lottery anyway. It's not like these are all crucial games that will decide their playoff fate.
tim donaghy was right. he wasn’t the only rogue ref, there are plenty of others guys blatantly ignoring hard fouls and whistling players for breathing too hard. there needs to be a league wide fraud watch on them
i was just saying that they blow those whistles for everything else but fouls. I'm still amazed of how yelling & mean mugging get more whistles than the actual fouls itself 🤦🏾♂
There no problem. The NBA is supposed to look completely fake compared to every other professional basketball league on the planet and never foul the top players.
The crazy part is the ref was standing right there and didn't blow the whistle. This was almost as bad as when the refs didn't call out of bounds when KD clearly was a few years ago.

The sports betting is getting out of hand it’s clearly fixed
Years ago a NBA ref got caught betting on games and called the game for his bets. Now with sports betting legal you know the gears are in motion the fix is in.

The Referees Are Clearly BETTING On The GAMES
I don't think the refs are personally, but friends and family might be and are in their ear, officiating across ALL sports have been getting progressively worse with the rise of sports betting, and I don't even gamble but it's clearly way more picking and choosing on when to blow the whistle or not, way too much inconsistency across the board

Unfortunately, having a challenge does the Pistons no good in this situation because you can only challenge a call- nothing was called here, so no challenge can be used

Step 1. When the last 2-min report acknowledges a bad call, anyone who complains about that call should NOT be fine.
Step 2. Force refs to regular (every few months) educational coursea with re-examinations, reviewing and examining bad calls from the last few months.
Step 3. Hire external independent evaluators for referees.
Easy fixes:
1. Win challenge = keep challenge
2. Can challenge at any time (e.g. even if there is a no-call). If lose challenge, 1 tech FT + possession to the opposition
3. Give 2 challenges each half, reset at halftime
4. Make challenge process much quicker
And add on top of that referee zoning. Give each ref a zone for calls that make, which is probably already in place, and upon reviewal of games with controversial call(s), if you missed a call or got a call blatantly wrong in your zone, you get a point. Once you get 5 points, you’re suspended for a week. Add that or something like it on top of your suggestions and I’d agree, easy fix
There’s nothing to challenge if there’s no call. Also there’s no stoppage. If the other team goes on a fast break or starts their possession, the opposing coach can’t start a challenge at that time.
If James Williams or any of his crew ref a game in Detroit i hope all the Detroit fans focus their energy on them

There’s been a referee problem for years since KD got to save the ball while being out of bounds in that game vs the rockets a while back
The fact that more and more players and coaches are coming out directly after games and blasting refs on clear misses or bad calls should be a red flag to Adam Silver. It becomes a point when there is way too much smoke to not call the fire department

The call from Houston was worse. Donte dove for a loose ball. Pistons never really had possession of the ball.
The fix is in, Detroit wasn't supposed to win and the refs made sure of it. James Williams was a foot away and acts like he missed it. James Williams is Tim Donaghy 2.0

Ever since the implement of the challenge rule, the ending of nba games has slowly gotten worse each season. Before the challenge, the last 2 minutes of a game was under a microscope but the draw back that ppl had for it was it made the game screech to halt in pace. A game with the challenge rule in the last 2 minutes could feel like it takes about 5 minutes to get to the end of the game, but pre challenge rule it could feel like 10 minutes which can definitely upset fans for a games last 2 minutes to go. Since the plays of a game can’t be reviewed in the last minutes it has led to more mistakes on the refs and while I like the challenge system that has been a weakness it has

Add virtual assistant referee like they do in soccer, add a 4th ref that doesn’t extend past half court, add an additional challenge for end of game situations like this, make the refs be held accountable by having them do post-game interviews, and create a system that is open to the public where if refs show a repeated behavior of no-calls then they must be fined or suspended!
