I have an almost Identical engine on my mower and I recently just bought A new carb but as a technician I like to fix parts before replace them. I see all the parts you found from the mfg but do you search on their website or is there a place you download the complete parts and assembly documents?
@@Echo3_ I do have access to B&S documentation, but generally I go to some major parts house (partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc.) to get diagrams for all manufacturers. @@TheLawnmowerLady awesome thank you so much. I have a mower with this same carb system but it has the primer bubble I replaced the carb and it wouldn`t start, then it started once and died and I noticed that governor choke spring has no tension but when I put something on to create tension still nothing so i`m kinda lost lol. back at it again tonight 😂😂
I have watched dozens of these carb rebuild videos and have been repairing my own equipment and vehicles for some 47 years now and this video gets an A+ for completeness. They may exist but I have yet to see a video that shows the removal of the throttle plate and choke plate AND the replacement of the small foam throttle plate and choke plate gaskets AS PART OF THE MAIN VIDEO. I have subscribed and gave a thumbs up!
Older video. But still not cost effective. A rebuild kit is just as expensive as an entirely new carburetor. Add in the cost to the "mechanic" to do it, and you could buy and entire new engine, lol. If doing it yourself, these older metal carbs can be rebuilt up to a certain point, but still easier and less expensive just to purchase a new carb. I will try to disassemble and clean etc, but if it looks too bad, I just buy a $10 carburetor.
@@outdoorwonderlust , just be aware that the $10 carbs are known by other video presenters to NOT work much of the time; it's a crap-shoot. In my case, I have an OEM Walbro carb that I bought a kit to rebuild off the Web for ~$3 and I'll do the job myself; it's easy.
One of the best videos on this subject. I will review it when I rebuild my Quantum carburetor. I note that none of the videos show an ADJUSTABLE carb, like I have (1990 vintage from California). I assume this is the later UNadjustable unit fitted to save money and avoid user adjustments because of stupid emission laws.

Dear Lawnmower Lady, What a great instructional video. You certainly are a great instructor. No need for questions, your easy to follow and understand instructions answers every one. Thanks. Keith DK
Very nice repair job and explanations along the way. The only recommendation is that you really should have cleaned everything up once you had it disassembled and the shroud off. Thanks again for an informative video.

Thank you for this video! I have this mower and I was struggling with it running boggy and dying if I bumped anything when using the forward assist. Tried cleaning the carb with carb cleaner and still had the same issues. Ordered a carb rebuild kit for it and did the steps in your video and it has been running great since then!
I’ve watched quite a few video and I love the simplicity and no fluff content of these vids. Everyone should take note on how to do videos the right way. Many thanks.
I'm just happy you watch and enjoy my videos. I hope everyone can learn something. All this can be intimidating to some folks. But even today, I helped a nice lady in HD trying to decide which air filter for her mower. I'm happy to help. Thanks for watching.
What a great video! Very complete, makes me want to take a second shot at rebuilding that carburetor. Thanks to your video, I think I need to replace that needle seat. That float was sitting funny. Thanks again! You rock! 🤟
I made a post about that here a few weeks ago: th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOuYTVShaUZmzWo_luhVM_Hfy1rgTbxpG Without that Tecumseh tool, you can get the old seat out with a drywall screw. Don't go too deep and damage the sealing surface. And use the back side of a drill bit (I forget the exact size, just find one that fits in the recess with little wiggle room) to re-install the new seat. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Starting this process tomorrow with the same motor. It's a 6.75 190cc on a Yard Machine 20" and about 10 years old. Has started first pull every Spring after sitting for the winter. Yesterday it just lost compression. It'll will start but then dies out after about 3-4 secs. Cleaned the spark plug and air filter and now it will run but just loping along at about 25% power. Going to take the carb apart and see what it looks like. Thanks for posting!
Maybe just cleaning out the passages of the bowl screw will do the trick? Most of the other passages are large enough to not clog up so badly. Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much for putting this together; I did a rebuild before on our old mower and it didn't go well, the mower went from starving for fuel to leaking gas like a sieve. I eventually got rid of it, then my stepdaughter bought a house - in the shed was yet another Quantum-powered mower with a junked-up carbuerator. Watching your video helped me figure out several places where I had gone wrong the first time that I had no clue about; certainly the instructions that come with the B&S kit are not nearly as helpful as what you have provided. This time I was successful, aside from zinging the choke return spring into the engine.
Oh this is perfect cause I know nothing about Carburetor's and having problems with one of my Toro's with a Briggs and Stratton. Oh thank you finally a close up of what your doing cause I have watched so many videos and yours is the best. So very helpful Stella.

I have a 2010 Toro Recycler(identical mower)with the same engine that is referred to as Ready Start. It has an auto choke that is activated by air movement of the fins on the flywheel. When motor won’t start on the 1st or 2nd pull, the main jet in the bottom of the bowl is likely to be stopped up or the governor vane is not moving freely.
Thank you for your kind words Mr Bruce! I think of moving my camera around is like just picking up another tool. Not too much extra time involved, but it does create more time editing after the fact.
Great video Stella, you have stepped up you're game on presentation and editing on this one. Great video to watch while drinking my coffee this morning. ☕Informative and well done! 😁👍
Thanks that was very interesting to me because I have a 6.75 Quantum on a Snapper purchased in 2004 that was fitted with a different version of this carb that doesn't have the choke, but has some sort of a purge bulb primer system. Has a history of being difficult to start and restart since it was new and I used to think about trying to revert to the choke carb but wouldn't know if it was feasible but it was nice to see what it looks like. I guess they made this change for emissions reasons....who knows.
Indeed, there are multiple versions of engines, carb, body combinations. Some due to manufacturing turnover. Once they develop a new/better product, they insert it into production without any fanfare. I appreciate you watching.
@@TheLawnmowerLady I just checked my Briggs & Stratton Flat Head service manual, which is very generalized, but I have the "LMS Flo-Jet" with fixed main jet, no adjustment needle for idle mixture, and no choke but what they call a "dry bulb primer system". They say it is non adjustable for low emissions. I guess when they stop working and can't be fixed they put out lower emissions in the landfill too lol. As an aside, when I brought this mower home from the store, it wouldn't start worth a damn and I eventually took off the flywheel and found the armature gap was super open on one end so it was not installed/adjusted properly at the factory.
Excellent…I usually can get my mower to start but it takes a lot of pulls to do it. That’s hard on this older guys post surgical back..I buy the canned fuel so there’s no ethanol..I had to return the mower not long after purchase because of starting problems. The mower is 11 years old…Great video..
Well done. very informative, and if there is anything to learn, it is, if yoy don't have everything you need, take it to someone who does. I was going to do mine, but my nephew, who has a small shop, has all the stuff needed. A suggestion: Don't be so hard on your brushes. If you look at your metal brush, you can see that the tines are all bent. It takes practice (and I still do it wrong) but work with only the tips of the bristles. Once you force it, you are actually working with most of the sides of the tines. Its like running your fingers through your hair with your knuckles.
Great video , The thicker bowl gasket in the Box kits usually go on the carbs from the E-Z start engines like yours there ......Only twice I had to use the thinner ones.....
Thanks for watching M. Cajun! That's good info to know. I just put the thicker ones on the carbs with the taller lip around the bowl. That said, I use far more of the thinner ones. Cheers!
Spend all day today working on this exact same more found it in front of a trash can empty the fuel cleaned up the car cleaned out the air filter hold up the police system rusted solid no replacement parts soaked in vinegar put it all back together again spring week from age no part of a laboo used coat hanger to make brace for spring so not so mow the yard saved myself 495 bucks cheapest lawn mower with same equipment
I'm not quite sure where you live but our police system is rusted Solid and don't think soaking an officer in vinegar would help because of all the metal they carry?
Great channel, awesome video. Would you mind reviewing which (diameter, length, thread count) bolt goes where? I'd removed the plastic shroud held in with screws, then the fuel tank assembly. Then unbolted the metal top covering. After that I'd also removed the air filter and bolts holding the breather box to the carb. So yeah, I have this model in a few pieces and am missing a few bolts. Or have some in the wrong spot.😅
I would go to any major parts house (partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc.) to look at the specific diagram for your engine model #. Should be stamped on a flat metal plate peeking out from under the plastic shroud, covering the muffler.
@@philliphall5198 It's not the best on Briggs engines, but it can help getting the needle seat started. I use the back side of a drill bit to drive it home. I show that in my most recent video: th-cam.com/video/9l9RCreSkPs/w-d-xo.html
I love your videos, they are presented very well. Today I will be working on that style carb so thanks a lot. From a safety point, you might want to reconsider wearing rings when working this type of equipment.
@@TheLawnmowerLady U R up and at it early this morning. I just went out and put my carb in the cleaner. One I got from harbor freight so I will run it through three or four full cycles.
I commend you for clarification of the Carb rebuild kit for the Craftsman Briggs and Stratton 6.75hp self-propelled lawn mower. That can be surely confusing as heck when you think. What did I lose when I pulled this appart??? Actually not anything upon your disassembly.
@@TheLawnmowerLady EVEN BETTER NOW. Thank you very very much, I have NEVER worked on a petrol engine before but have followed your excellent teachings to fix my mower that hasn't run for over 8 years. I was brave enough to remove the carby, clean it and refit it correctly, The joy when it started on the first pull.
Yes you did, I havent ever had one with that issue but at least the shoulder bolt was still there and the vane intact. That saved you a little trouble. :)
Hi great video very helpful question did exactly what you did in your video along with cleaning gas tank and fuel line mower will run for a while and then cuts out as if not getting gas I'm getting spark gas is flowing I cannot figure it out any suggestions thank you
Great video for all the DIYers, sent you an email for sticker swap and congrats on being monetised within a short number more subscribers. The OLD MAN at EP over and out!
Lawnmower Lady - Love your videos, straight and to the point. I noticed its cheaper to buy a brand-new aftermarket Carburetor than buying the rebuild kit. In fact, they package an air filter, spark plug all the gaskets fuel filters etc for less than the rebuild kit. Curious what your thoughts are on the aftermarket Carburetors. Thanks!
I think those aftermarket kits have their place. I personally steer clear, I've seen too many reports of hit/miss quality. I can confirm the spark plugs are usually fit for the bin. I'm also of the mind to try and keep as much out of the landfill as possible. That often means clean and work with what I have, rather than replace. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Great Video. Thanks for taking the time and being so thorough. I have the same carb, but without the choke/governor plate. I noticed that you only used the "O-Ring", but the gasket on the mating surface to the engine. There is one that came with the kit (498260). Do I not need that gasket with this application?
Lots of different models out there, so I can't be too specific... Only replace what you remove. Most of those kits include extra items to cover multiple different carb models. That said, if the fiddle faeries have been in there before you got this mower, it's hard to tell.
Hi Thanks for the detailed info on this video. My lawnmower is craftsman 6.75 21” mulcher from sears.. i changed oil, gas and soark plug.. the engine wont start.. but i one thing i noticed is if you keep priming it would nick start for just few seconds and die.. would you be able to help please!
Thank you for the video. Last week I did everything you did, even put in a new spark plug, it didn’t start. Put back the old plug and it started and mowed my lawn. Today it didn’t want to start. Any suggestions??
Hard to diagnose online. Obviously go over what you did or changed, maybe a disconnected spring, then start with the basics. Make sure you have good spark, good fuel flow. I appreciate you watching.
I love your video. I removed my carb and did all the cleaning. I really really really need a new red needle seat for my carb. My mower is just like this one. I sure don;t want to buy a whole kit. Got any ideas? My mower still cuts out after running for about 5 minutes. Maybe I need a new magneto.
Glad it was helpful! Next time the mower stops after 5 min, pop off the fuel cap. If you hear a whooshing sound, you might have a bad fuel cap (the vent is blocked) It should start right back up. Buy a new cap. If not check for spark. Hard starting when hot is a sign of a failing ignition coil. I've seen replacement needle seats in large quantities (likely from overseas) both on ebay and AMZN. I can't vouch for the quality, but worth a try. I appreciate you watching!
Thank you for your tutorial. I was having an issue with my mower where it would start but then not idle and die. After removing the bolt on the bottom of the carburetor found that there was nothing passing through the holes in the bolt. Complete clog. Thanks again.
Your video is amazing and helped me get my mower running again. Quick question though, is the center jet removable at all for a more thorough cleaning?
Great video. I notice on your carburetor you don't have springs that go on it. I took mine apart but one entire spring fell out and I have no clue where they reattach, any ideas?
Does anyone know the part number for the carb mounting bolts? Mine fell out and I need replacements. Lawnmower Lady stated that the head size is 10mm or 3/8....
That's the size of the tool I use. I suggest looking up a parts diagram for the engine (not the mower) at any major parts house to get the correct part ## partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc. I'm partial to partstree as they show current stock online.
Hiya! I just picked up a Massey Ferguson 2107 ride on needing some TLC but it runs fine, same engine as this video apart from it says 65 on it so I’m unsure as to if it’s 6.5 Hp or what?? Good video though as I’m gonna keep it & this gave me a bit of insight into it, that heat induction automatic choke thingy is an interesting gizmo I’ve never seen that before but if it works it works, I don’t really do a lot of small engine work it’s mainly my own stuff I fettle & service so cheers for this video, I heard you say something about not enough views on a live recently so I just hit play all earlier on the TV when I went out so the dogs been watching you for a couple of hours now lol, every little helps! Cheers 👍
That's my mower engine. I live in gas-mower-banned California. It has to last me, who gets it after I pass, and who gets it after them forever. I intend to reclaim it at my resurrection!
This is the exact type of mower I'm working on myself. I cleaned the csrb in the ultrasonic cleaner and now the carb is leaking fuel. Is that because the needle isn't seating in the carb?
That's most likely. Either a bit of grit in the needle seat, or perhaps the needle tip is damaged. You might try a Q-tip in a small drill to polish the insides where the needle travels. Might be some oxidation that keeps the needle from moving freely. Get out that magnifying glass to make sure no cotton fibers get left in there, if you went real deep. One tiny cotton strand will keep that needle up, causing flooding too. Good luck

Well done. very informative, and if there is anything to learn, it is, if yoy don't have everything you need, take it to someone who does.
I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Cheers!
Nice tip about using guitar string to clean passages. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome video lady... congratulations on 1k thats awesome. Hope all is well take care & stay safe .
Thank you so much Doc !!
Thank you & that Tecumseh 670377 Carb Tool is what I needed most.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Glad to help! Cheers!
Spell check
You absolutely rock 😍
All the details about the needle seat I was missing.
That's where I am going wrong.
Thank you thank you.♥️
Happy to help. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
The tool is worth buying for sure
@@philliphall5198 It's not the best on Briggs engines, but it can help getting the needle seat started. I use the back side of a drill bit to drive it home. I show that in my most recent video: th-cam.com/video/9l9RCreSkPs/w-d-xo.html
Hey, my kind of chick. Thank you. I have three to fix tomorrow morning. Thank you so much and take care
I do appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Great video Stella - and congratulation on reaching 1000 subscribers.
Thank you Mr Claus. I really appreciate that. Cheers!
I'll be excited to watch more of your videos your very informative I'll recommend you to a friend that works on broken lawnmowers
Thanks for watching Mr James. Cheers!
I love your videos, they are presented very well. Today I will be working on that style carb so thanks a lot.
From a safety point, you might want to reconsider wearing rings when working this type of equipment.
Ha! You're probably right. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady U R up and at it early this morning.
I just went out and put my carb in the cleaner. One I got from harbor freight so I will run it through three or four full cycles.
@@Hear-MeoutTwo2 You got this!
Wow! Started with the first pull! Wish my equipment does that🙂
You can do it!
I commend you for clarification of the Carb rebuild kit for the Craftsman Briggs and Stratton 6.75hp self-propelled lawn mower. That can be surely confusing as heck when you think. What did I lose when I pulled this appart??? Actually not anything upon your disassembly.
👏 wow what a wonderful job you have done on this video. Impressive
Thank you so much Mr Rooster! 😀
Excellent, I have one of these in Australia, not called Quantum here but over there USA. very helpful. great work with no bullshit.
I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Congratulations again on hitting the big 1000 mark. Good wofk
Thank you! 😊
Nice video Ms Lady, step by step with great explanation. :)
Thanks Mr John! I got a curve ball on this one with that air vane, not exactly what I was expecting. I appreciate you watching!
Yes you did, I havent ever had one with that issue but at least the shoulder bolt was still there and the vane intact. That saved you a little trouble. :)
Great video Stella. I oil the sponges on the plates just old school i think.
That's a good idea Mr Pete! I'm pretty old school too. My hands are usually covered in greasy oil, so I guess they get a little anyways. LOL
i like your videos. you are right to the point. good work
Glad you like them! I appreciate your support.
Congratulations Stella my wife is your 1000th sub
Thank you Mr & Mrs Rooster! All y’all are the best!
First time viewer. Great, helpful video. New subscriber. Thanks!
Welcome! Hope you stick around. Cheers!
Hi great video very helpful question did exactly what you did in your video along with cleaning gas tank and fuel line mower will run for a while and then cuts out as if not getting gas I'm getting spark gas is flowing I cannot figure it out any suggestions thank you
I’ve been using 222 lock tight on the butterfly screws just to be safe and secure it’s not going into engine
I don't know how the peen those screws, but I don't won't them to back out.
Great video for all the DIYers, sent you an email for sticker swap and congrats on being monetised within a short number more subscribers. The OLD MAN at EP over and out!
Awesome Mr Wayne, thank you for your support! Cheers! Check your email
I forgot to say, glad you mentioned your email here. It got filtered to myspam box, I realize now I need to check my spambox more often. Cheers!
Thank you for the excellent video. Exactly what I was looking for
Glad it was helpful!
Another Great Video, Always well Explained and Detailed Video.. A Pleasure To Watch
So nice of you. Thanks for watching!
That said, if the fiddle faeries have been in there before you got this mower, it's hard to tell.
excellent video Stella video footage is awesome well done
Thank you very much Mr Nev! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Super detailed and videoed very well. Thanks for putting time in effort into passing on your knowledge/experience.
My pleasure!
Hi
Thanks for the detailed info on this video.
My lawnmower is craftsman 6.75 21” mulcher
from sears..
i changed oil, gas and soark plug..
the engine wont start.. but i one thing i noticed is if you keep priming it would nick start for just few seconds and die.. would you be able to help please!
Definitely a fuel delivery issue. Clean the carb like in this video, you'll probably be good to go. Thanks for watching.
Such a well done video full of information and advice. great work!
Thanks for your kind words Mr IHG ! I really appreciate your support.
My mower is running 🏃♂️ lean. When You said the seat was limiting fuel flow. ⛽️. I have to replace the seat.
I appreciate you watching. Glad you got it sorted out. Cheers!
Your video is amazing and helped me get my mower running again. Quick question though, is the center jet removable at all for a more thorough cleaning?
Not on most of those models. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Great video.
You explain everything thoroughly and crystal clear.
Please keep the videos coming
Thank you Mr George for watching. Cheers!
Pleasure watching Stella
Thank you Mr Gary for watching!
@@TheLawnmowerLady a pleasure very informative x
Great video. I notice on your carburetor you don't have springs that go on it. I took mine apart but one entire spring fell out and I have no clue where they reattach, any ideas?
Check for a parts diagram from any major parts house. You need your engine model #, not the number from the mower deck. Thanks for watching.
Thank you!
Didn't work, still didn't show where they hook up.
Nice job, runs nicely. 🛠👍
Thanks 👍
Great video! Very knowledgeable ! thank you
My pleasure! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Great video. Where can I find the rear wheel height adjusters, mine broke. Thanks for what you do! I’m a fan.
If you can't find then at the major parts houses (partstree, jacks, repairclinic, etc), I've had good luck on ebay. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
really good video
She is very helpful
Wish I saw this before trying my self
Happy to help. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
quick tip if you dont have the tool those needle seats come out easily with compressed air
Great tip! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Will do thank you
Cheers 👍
Thanks for watching Mr Mikey. Good luck on that machine you are working on.
That's my mower engine. I live in gas-mower-banned California. It has to last me, who gets it after I pass, and who gets it after them forever. I intend to reclaim it at my resurrection!
Haha! I tell everyone on the other coast to hang on to those old mowers. They sure don't make them like they used to. Thanks for watching!
This was great , thanks a bunch!
You're very welcome!
Good luck
This is a great video, thanks!
I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Outstanding video. Thank you so much!
