Having tried a number of extenders with little or no improvement I bought the Tenda Nova 5S. All I can say is it's probably the first thing I've ever bought that actually lives up to all its advertising and the reviews done in the videos here on TH-cam. So easy to set up and what an improvement.
I threw one of my nodes in the bin because it not longer connected. I ordered another two nodes. Then watching this video, I realised that I haven't tried connecting via the app. Lucky the node was still in the bin, and I cleaned it up. Guess what? it connected via the Tenda app. I will now have four nodes in total (doh). At least I'll have super excellent coverage. Thanks for the video, it saved me $99.
I hated it so far. keep a lot of cell phone and laptop on 2.4G network. Smart devices got put in 2.4G and 5G network randomly, so they can't see each other. I missed my tenda AC18, which is powerful one piece that give you all you need.
I got a single Chinese MW6 node and connected my old international MW3 nodes to it for the 1Gbps wired backhaul at the source node. My network had a bottleneck with the 100Mbps ethernet MW3 root node port. It runs fine, surprisingly. I can't find a local vendor that has the international MW6 so I had to take the risk. Root node speed is 300Mbps, 2nd nodes speed through wireless backhaul is 120Mbps.
I own these before a review video. they're very helpful and cheap. comes in 3 packs. very cheaper and exactly the same as the expensive Google mesh. love the tenda mw6. gives my phones 5g to most accessible phones and laptops. I got a 3 pack for low as £125. Highly recommend for homes that can't get WiFi in other parts of homes. it's 6000 squares. that's like 2 yards. love this mesh
What about stability? And what is the max coverage you can get from the main mesh? I mean if the main mesh is on room 1 should I place the secondary one two walls away only to get the best speeds?
Just one Question, its about the Nova Mw6 maintenance Shedule. How do I know its working? Because I've set to activate.. ie at 10am to activate at 11:30am and for the life of me I can't see it reboot or do anything at that set time. Apart from that I'm loving this System.
The reason I'm going with mesh is because it takes a lot of the manual stuff like switching between bands of my hands. I used to do that but I guess that's a perk from mesh networks. So the fact that there's not a lot of functionality with the app is not a problem. I just need it to work. I really enjoyed the review. Thank you.
I had so many unknown questions and you answered all of them and more. the speed which you talk is a plus also, those others talk so slow I need to get to the point and not listen to jabber, I thank you, looking forward to our new friendship of TH-cam professional Tech savvy.
can the main nova unit work as access point?? (I mean no router features on the Nova as long my ISP modem cannot work in bridge mode so i'm forced to have that as my main router, dhcp server, etc.). And other question: a second nova unit can work with ethernet backbone?? thanks in advance for the help, great video!!
I had problems connecting my PS5 with this (I had to try a few times, something that never happened with my common router), and NONE of my smart devices (different brands) worked. Yes I tried the "2.4ghz mode". Frustrating that most of the reviewers I've seen didn't test with smart devices.

Thanks for the wonderful presentation, I am new to this, just wanted to double check, if you have this mesh network, would this be replacing your host network[home] and will cover the possible dead zones in the house, and I dont have to change the network like I do with Wifi extenders which creates a different network and having to change depending on your location in the part of the house you want the signal? Is the MW5 good too? I need coverage for about 3000 sqft. Sorry if I confused u.
I think I understand you, it won't mess anything up. It'll be the same network over the entire house, not a new network. You'll be connected seamlessly from room to room
Does this work with any Internet provider? I'm using Spectrum and their modem and their router. But hate paying an extra $5 a month for their router to have wifi. It has been ok but I have tons of devices on wifi. Recently cut the cord with tv so I'm streaming tv now and would love to improve my wifi. Just upgraded from 200 mbps to 400 mbps and also use a vpn.
I would spend a few bucks more and go for the TP-Link Deco M4 or M5, It has more options for QoS and other settings like parental controls and it's not even that much more expensive, it's probably also faster than this set.
@@T94869 mercury h50g.. it's good, no problems yet, cheaper than tenda mw6. You can Google its specifications and compare it with tenda. Not much difference in specifications.
@@chattech I finally tried with 6 nodes, and the performance of the mesh system is horrible. I reduced it to 4 nodes. This mesh definitely not for mobile gamers, as you can not pick between 2.4g and 5g for specific device. You got random pick depends on your location and device. Drive you crazy from time to time.

You need at least 2 because the main node should be wired to your main router.... So having 1 will be useless because you cant extend the range because you need to put it beside your router
I purchased this system after your review. It is fast & simple set up with excellent range....BUT I’ve been unable to wifi connect my Epson printer, my Yamaha amp (net radio) or my wireless alarm system....all three of these devices cannot see the Tenda Nova SSID showing up on their connection search. Anyone have any idea why, or what I need to do please?
Just does not work with my T-Mobile Zyxel mesh router. It's mind blowing. The Zyxel delivers a much wifi. Just doesn't cover my entire home. The company itself didn't answer any of attempts to have the issue resolved. You might consider paying a few bucks more and have at least a decent costumer service.
One of the reasons this system sucks is because it either comes with malware or it requires an app with malware to set it up. If you run wireshark on it you'll notice one of them or the app is contantly pinging the network to discover devices, it also sends your wifi details to chinese servers...
Yes you can. I brought 3 boxes of 2 nodes version of this, and I was able to add all 6 of them. With that said, I would say adding 6 is pushing it. I believe 3 nodes positioned in triangle is the optimal setup.
Someone who was giving us a new modem recommended this, but my grandmother wants to return it instead of at least trying it. I tried to at least convince her that she was wrong but wouldn’t even listen to me. Someone pls comment below to help back me up if you can.

hi, can my router still be used as a separate wifi network even when using this mesh?
Yes if it has a different ssid
Does this create a separate SSID and network to the one the original router uses?
yes it does, and it can use unicode emoji symbols for the name too, which is nice to have
Can i use this with xfinity
Can you block some specific websites within the app?
