    It might have been a good idea to turn off the upstairs repeater before you tried to install the Nova in the upstairs bedroom. This is because the repeater could interfere with, and block the signal from, the Nova. I wonder if you've tried that to see if it helps?

  • @michaelpender3410
    @michaelpender3410 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Please note that the Tenda MW3's encryption is not actually WPA2-PSK, but WPA/WPA2-TKIP, which was deprecated years ago as obsolete. You should expect your network to be hacked. Also, the MW3's call out to Internet sites in China several times a minute, but apparently work normally if you block their access with your firewall, so it doesn't seem to be a needed function. Tenda has been promising a firmware update to change this behavior for over a year.

    now put your router in your room and connect that to the node. Great video its what most of us would be doing. you should get another node or two and put in adjacent rooms

  • @geraldng1036
    @geraldng1036 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You should place your remote node closer to the Primary Node. The one in your sister's room should be placed outside of the room closer to the Primary Node. The same for the upstairs node. You should place it near the staircase, downstairs, closer to the primary node. Give it a try.

      If you disable DHCP on your main router, then yes. Once setup, all your devices will recognise the new (old) SSD. If you're having both router AND nodes dish out wifi, best to keep seperate.

    LAN connection maximum speed (input) is only 100 mbps. Then what is the point in having higher MBPS wifi output. Its not a booster. So output wifi is always going to be same as input through LAN that is maximum 100 mbps.

    Great review, mate. I have a question. Let's say, I don't want to dispose off my trusty old router. I just want to increase its range. So would it be possible to connect one of the tenda mesh routers to my old router, and then connect the rest of the tenda mesh routers to the primary tenda router? So it'll be like this :
    My old router -> 1 Tenda (Primary mesh) -> 2 Tenda (secondary mesh) -> 3 Tenda (tertiary mesh)
    Is this possible? :)

      I have a similar question to Caayotee's: My cable modem-router is on one end of the house. Hard wired to it, about 20 feet is my Airport Extreme. About 12 feet upstairs is my Aiport Express connected wirelessly.
      Could I connect the Main Node to my hardwired Airport Extreme & then use the Tenda App to find good locations for the other 2 Tenda Nodes? And also continue to une the Airport Express elsewhere? As follows:
      Existing Airport Extreme -> Main Tenda Node -> 2nd Tenda Node -> #rd Tenda Node -> Airport Express (wireless).
      Thanks in advance!

    Well, this "review" does not "test" its spec: 867 Mbits output. Even the router can deliver 1000 Mbits from Fiber Gbits internet, but this Mesh receives max. 100Mbits via LAN, how can it deliver more than 100 Mbits then, even the spec says 300 or 867 Mbits? Or, can the mesh connect to router per WLAN?

    does the primary node need to be by the router or can I place it in another room with a super long ethernet?

      You can place where ever you like as long as the primary node is wired to your router. All other nodes then daisy chain to your primary node via wifi.

    Anyone experience a random disconnection of the mesh wifi from your main isp router? I'm having this problem almost once everyday. Mesh wifi needed to reboot in order for it to connect to the isp router again. Thanks.
