Oh yes. That's why I loved his work with Humble Pie. He still has the feel and tone, at least for now.
I suggest reading his memoir. He talks about his dad's influence on him, exposing him to Django Reinhardt and such. At first, he wasn't too turned on by jazz, but then he really got into it and started incorporating it into his licks, which set him apart from the "Clapton is God" blues types.

@@Schr1987ama Even Clapton said he appreciated jazz though. Don't know much about him really, but I've certainly seen interviews (early 1990s) where he says thay. Same with SRV. (His jazz feel and precision when playing Jimi Hendrix tunes is what I like about him.)
Most people don't realize, to make a guitar sound like a human voice, to replace the lead vocal, is just amazing! Peter Frampton is such an amazing guitar player! OMG! Most people do not realize how amazing this is!
Saw Peter a total of 4 times live… every show different, every solo was different than the album’s solo, every show he gave 100%… truly a music hero, not just a guitar hero!

He definitely made me cry with this one! This man held every audience in the palm of his hand. He just naturally had it. His charisma was always there and in the lead! How can we possibly say goodbye without a tear in our eye for those of us who grew up with you, Mr Frampton? At least we can go back and watch over and over, again and again, so that you and your music will be with us to our dying day, and for the generations to come. Yes, you will be missed, but you live forever in music, our hearts, and future music lovers .
When I heard the news of his MS, I thought, "really God????" But, I believe it's just another test that will be passed by Mr Frampton as he has done with all the past tests God gave him! There is nothing he hasn't done very well! Love to Peter Frampton and his loved ones......
This song has always brought great emotion from me. I remember listening to Ray Charles version of "Georgia on my Mind." But to hear Peter Frampton play the instrumental version on his guitar almost made me cry. The acoustic strumming of the song was mind-blowing, to say the least. I grew up with this singer, and to hear about his diagnosis of MS is heartbreaking. Why is it that such talented people get debilitating diseases like MS? I wish for Mr. Frampton to continue playing as long as his body will allow him. You have given pleasure to millions of your audience, and i pray for healing to come to your body.

I was at this show..I've seen this man 5 times in concert..1st time was years and years ago at Detroit's Cobo Hall..the back-up band was Van Halen..nobody knew who they were.
"Frampton announced in February that this tour would be his last, revealing that he was diagnosed with a degenerative muscular disease called inclusion body myositis, a rare and incurable condition that causes muscles to weaken slowly. Frampton says he does feel the effects of this condition in his body, but thankfully his guitar playing has not been affected yet. Incredible how many great guitarists came out of the UK in the 1960's and are still at the top of the game. 'Frampton Comes Alive' was everywhere in the late 1970's....a great musical period.
