  • The Roborock S7 Max V Ultra is the ultimate robotic vacuum cleaner. The robot will not only mop and vacuum your home, but return to it's Empty Wash Dock to auto-empty its dust bin and the dock will wash the mop and refill the robot with clean water, giving users a truly automated cleaning experience. But you'll end up paying top dollar for that automated experience and we'll explore if the cost is worth the experience and who we think this robotic vacuum is for.
We'll go over how the robot maps your home, identifies objects to avoid, how well it's avoidance software works, how often and what you had to do maintance on with this system, how the app works with the robot, and some things we think could be improved with the robot's experience.

Was gonna say, pretty sure they have Google Home support. Also, while it doesn’t support HomeKit, that’s not Roborock’s fault as HomeKit does not support any robot vacuums as of current. Plus it supports Siri Shortcuts which is basically the next best thing and the best Roborock can do.

Everyone knows what this vacuum can do. Six months later spend more time on the vacuum itself. Mechanically is it still functioning. Smells? Odors? Cleaning issues with the self clean? Bag space and how often you empty. Overall functionality. I felt like I didn’t lean that much over a regular review in a 9 minute video.

    • @Idkjk971
      @Idkjk971 ปีที่แล้ว +12

I bought just the vacuum robot by itself this week on sale. Doing a fantastic job. Dustbin does not collect a lot of dust and you can empty it every other day or just do it end of the day. I wash the mop pad by hands and put it a dryer for 5 min. Not a hard chore. No need to spend 1k on Ultra. I also used Bona solution in it. Works fine and does the work! Self clean and self empty you need to buy dust bags and if the self clean breaks down then spend more to replace it. Next model when they release probably will have better technology and bagless option.

I have it since this summer. It works very well only got stuck one. Doesn't smell. But you have dirty build up in the cleaning area for the mop. Carefully to not use detergent it will attacks the seal. I had to replace the mop because friction destroyed it on my hard floor tiles. Else ? No issue with the app.

@@steved3774 Depend first on the budget. Having the automatic mopping cleaning system is a real plus because you dont think about it and in general our floor is cleaner compare to before. (Because honestly would you go to the robot when it finished to clean the mop manually? i wouldn't .. :p )
Having a dust empty bin is mandatory for the same reason and generally cheaper.
If you really need a good mop maybe take a look at the Deambot ? The mop system is looking better only if you have a full hardfloor.
The IRobot doesn't seems up to the task. I have easy access to part replacement with IRobot but damn developpement of their product is slow and they feel lacking or in late.
Roborock is for me the best all around.
THe only issue i wish robots could improve is tigh corner or tigh area but hey a classic vaccum once a month is way enough for a 100m² with kids i have.

Overall, I am happy with my S7 MaxV. Cleans well, I like the raising mop for the carpets. Obstacle avoidance is generally good, but in my case it fails to see doorstoppers (and climbs on them) and IKEA drying rack (can move it, or climb over). Solved it by using corners of 10x10 no go zones (which is minimum), and securing small toys on the feet of drying rack 😁

Good timing on this video! Right at _this_ exact moment, the MaxV Ultra is $340 off right now (I happened to get it just a few days ago and been using it for a bit now). You hit the nail on the head on some of the downsides; getting it setup, would have been nice for a QR code that properly directs you to the right App Store (easy to do these days) but that’s a really minor nitpick. And agreed: Definitely worthwhile if you got a lot of hard flooring (our main floor is all hardwood with just a few rugs). Already got an old Ecovacs for upstairs carpet and it’s _ok_ but it’s a huge pain to deal with in comparison to this thing. Roborock has been *way* better than Ecovacs, in my experience so far! Especially on the software side of things.

Thank you, very informative as I'm thinking of purchasing this product, as I want to upgrade from my current Roborock S6 MaxV setup. I have some questions, maybe you or someone else can help me out:
    1. Can I schedule the robot to vacuum only the entire house at a specific time, and do let's say 2 cleaning cycles per room? I know you can increase the cleaning cycles on Zone Cleaning Mode, but was wondering if you can do the same with Scheduled Cleaning Mode.
    2. If I select vacuum only, and keep the moping attachment on, will the moping attachment be raised during vacuuming?
    3. I own a large breed dog, that sheds a lot, and often. I run my current robot once a day, and still I have to empty the dustbin daily, as it fills up. Sometimes the dustbin even overfills, and because of that, the extra hair coils around the brush. Sometimes the hair clumps at the entrance of the dustbin, and even though the dustbin is empty, it cannot fill up any more, because of this, the extra hair ends up getting coiled around the brush. So will this new model solve this issue? Will the suction power from the home station be powerful enough to pull these large hairs and empty the dustbin properly?
    4. How often must I refill the water tank and empty the dirty water from the main station? I plan to mop daily, at high scrub intensity and highest water setting?
    5. How often must I change the dust bag as I have lots of pet hair, and debris on the floor (from the dog coming inside when I walk him).
Ty in advance! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

I'm really happy with my Max V overall. The one thing that bugs me a little is that its a a bit too gentle around floor long courtains.

So the robot does not detect a full dustbin, correct? (The dustbin is the box inside the robot that collects the debris.) The feature "empties dustbin automatically" is confusing. It will only empty the dustbin automatically when the robot is returned to the base. However, the robot will not automatically return to the base when the dustbin is full. So, in essence, if the dustbin is full, the robot may still be operating, but it won't be collecting any debris. Therefore, you have to check it to ensure the dustbin is not full.

Very helpful. I got my first robotic vacuum in 2009, a Roomba 560, and have bought other iRobot units since then but after getting a Lidar-based unit about 2 years ago (an Ecovacs T8 AIVI) iRobot is dead to me now. I would never again get a unit that uses VSLAM-based navigation because Lidar works so much better in my home.
I was thinking of getting this Roborock but your comment about the mopping pad not lifting high enough to stop it brushing the carpets defeats the whole purpose for me. I was unaware of that better iRobot lifting mechanism but as already mentioned current iRobot VSLAM units are a no-no for me. Roborock does seem to be a good and innovative company though and my Ecovacs is still performing well so I think I’ll stick with that for another year or so until I see what the next generation brings, either Roborock improving the lift mechanism or just maybe iRobot stopping being so stubborn and finally switching to Lidar navigation.
Although come to think of it my other ding against iRobot units you also mentioned. I got fed up of the battery barely lasting a full clean when new & needing to be replaced every year. It is so nice to now have a unit that doesn’t even use half the battery on a cleaning run. iRobot needs to deliver better battery life as well for me to ever consider getting one again.

    • @xeon2k8
      @xeon2k8 ปีที่แล้ว

battery pack was improved by double on the J7+, BUT, the mopping performance is super bad, because you are comparing a vibrating mop on Roborock (or rotating in the case of Dreame L10s) vs just a static mop that drags on the Roomba. Also when the Roomba has no self-cleaning and the mop is not left on free air to be dried when it's retracted.

Tell me about it!! I got the Roomba 980 (when it was still iRobot’s most high end model ) for like $1000 and then a month later bought a Roborock S5 for about $300+. The difference was enormous. Roomba navigation was bad, it used camera and needed good lighting, and its route was so random. Took a good 50 minutes - 1hr to clean my tiny 60 soft apartment while the Roborock was done in 25 minutes, in the dark. Roomba was so loud as well, it always enabled carpet mode even though I had none! Good God!

Even at a $350 discount, I'm having a hard time justifying the Ultra over a comparable Roborock model with a self-empty docks. Mopping feature is really good, it does some vibration thing so its more than just a robot dragging a wet cloth around. I legit don't have to worry about cleaning the floors at all after cooking (unless it's a huge spill). Even if the mopping won't entirely get baked on stains off in one pass, after a few passes it's good to go.

    • @6MonthsLater

I should have gone into the mopping experience a bit more in the video. I only used water with the mop since Roborock recommends only using their cleaner with distilled water, but I didn't both getting the cleaner. With just water I actually thought it did a decent job. For stuff really stuck onto the floor, occasionally I'd have to go get a swiffer and really work it into the floor to remove sticky debris. Now, it might be that with the cleaning solution, the robot would have totally gotten more stuff up, but overall, its a pretty usable mop in my experience. - Josh

Before buying, I fixed all my house raising & attaching lamps & furniture on the wall so they do not touch the floor. It enlarged the room and left the floor way easier to clean. But before buying, I searched for Service Centers in Canada and the USS. DID NOT FIND ANY. So, I won't buy until SERVICE equals Dyson, Bosch, Miele, LG, Samsung and the like. BEWARE and investigate. Simply ASK then where to go when a problem arises.

The Shark Lidar AI auto empty can be had for $299 BF and Prime Day. It's bagless, and as far as I can tell exactly as good minus the mop function. 6 months in and zero issues running 3 times a week M, W, F on carpet and tile.

Damn I should've waited... this Roomba can't even map my easy to map house properly. It did it once over a period of time then decided that my bedroom didn't exist. Then after making it do mapping for now 3 days straight it can't turn slightly to the right to find my completely empty hallway.

@Emily Paige don't own a heavy carpet. I received the "repaired" vacuum back and it still didn't work. (Same issue and the LED light didnt work) They ask I send it back again (twice within a month) and they would do a more thorough job this time. I told them zero chance and bought a different brand.

I don’t understand these reviewers, how the hell this robot is expensive when IRobot s9 and the Braava m6 costs together 2100€ or 2200 dollars, well at least was the price I paid for them. They were stupid and not very smart and they don’t have self cleaning for the mop, the S9 hit on everything.
1400 euros or dollars is a one hell of a bussiness, I sold my two iRobots and bought the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and I’m not going back to iRobot they lost the race.

So true Frederico. As I mentioned in my comment iRobot is dead to me now after going from an i7+ to an Ecovacs T8 AIVI mainly because LiDAR navigation works perfectly in my home whereas with the i7+ I could only ever use it in certain parts of the house because even though it showed a map of my bedrooms whenever it sent it to that part of my apartment to clean it got lost and never once in 6 months was it able to find its way back from the bedrooms to the dock. Plus even new it could barely clean the front of the house on a single charge and by the time I junked it 6 months later it had to recharge mid clean that made it take about 3 hours to clean the living areas that my Ecovacs now cleans in 30 minutes, and my Ecovacs can also go and clean the bedrooms afterwards and make it back to the dock without getting lost.
iRobot is the past; it has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to compete with companies like Roborock and Ecovacs now.

Agreed, it would be cool if someone would do kinda like what Dyson made famous for vacuums with a bin so you can see what is being sucked up plus no bags. You’d just need to empty it more is my guess. - Josh

There really wasn’t anything more substantive from this 6mo review than what I could have gotten from a 60-day review.
I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but after 6 months I want to know if it’s continuing to empty as well as it did when it was new, how often you’re replacing water/bags, etc. You started to mention regular maintenance and then just went cruising on past it to talk about completely superfluous things that, again, would have been more appropriate in a much shorter term review. Maybe you should reconsider 6months if this is the level of detail you want to provide.
Again, thanks for what you’re doing, but you missed the mark.

I think continuing to increase complexity and thus price in pursuit of being the best mop and vacuum is a mistake. You are reaching the price point where people are going to expect multiple years of trouble free use outside of routine maintenance. I'm not convinced that the longevity is there with this level of complexity. Get the price back down to sub $1k and go back to focusing on superior vacuuming with basic mopping.
If you really want to pursue the hard floors market, build a dedicated mop that can truly do what needs to be done to excel. Trying to be everything to everyone with an all-in-one machine design is a mistake.

This robot is worthless as a vacuum. Once the bin is full the robot continues on it has no sensors to detect if the bin is full so it will go through the motions until the end of the job. Then it will empty the bin. I called Roborock's technical support and they informed me that NONE of the Roborock robots have sensors inside the bin and they will not stop.

Roborock is refusing to honor my warranty. It’s been a huge headache and a waste of 1300 American dollars. This very expensive vacuum didn’t even last three months.

Nope! I bought mine In July 2023. I have used it once a week to keep less than 1000 sq feet clean. So not a heavy use. It stopped working. The robot unit has no power. I have cleaned all the charging contacts, and it won't charge or hold power. A colossal waste of money. :(

Giant waste of money since I can get a vacuum for cheap and I don't care about mopping. My pets would destroy this thin, instant 1400 dollar chew toy. And I can't be bothered with the smart home crap, it's another waste of time unless you're lazy
