    like the calm and carefull discussions and explanations also taking care for the nuances and differences - for example to understand the nuances in german traffic or street and traffic separation design. Like 30 km / h limit around hospitals, schoolls, eldery residences but only from 7 am to 6 pm and so on.
    Also the speed limits can be - mostly on highways - limited by rain or wet street conditions. Those are warning that the street surface ahead might be suffering in a strong sudden rain shower which have already caused accidents and then this part of the street will llimited for wet surface conditions.
    VW can do it quite good but not perfect for example if you are on a highway and there is an exit lane going into a strong curve then there are speedlimits of 30 km / h quite often but only for the exit lane, not the highway itself. And then the VW can struggle a bit (I mean it beeps and blinks that driving 120 is a bit over the limit of 30). But as always things are improving, sometimes quite slowly or too low.
    Tesla is starting with advertising here and there maybe just locally, but the reputation of tesla is struggling cause if you buy the car tomorrow they can depreciate that investment big time by cutting prices again which had happened quite often. And the broken promises like the idea of visual parking would work - and it did not for months already.

    Fascinating video ! I have a 2022 MYLR in the UK (FSD option and with USS but this can now be deactivated since 14.6) My FSD observations are identical with what Peter reported sadly.- particularly the reduced capabilities over time. Fortunately there is less paranoia about Musk here though and Teslas are increasingly common in the area where I live just to the north of London.

    Impressive drive except for the end where it took the wrong lane. Good to compare US with Europe. Netherlands experience is the same as Germany. I sold my model S after a 5 years wait for payed for FSD and never getting anything meaningful. I drive an Xpeng G9 now. Its ‘FSD’ that is called Xpilot gives the same functionality in Europe as Tesla. It is free of charge so everyone has it. I use it a lot. Quality of the car is better than Tesla and the cost is much lower. Having said all that if the Tesla software would be allowed in Europe it would have stayed with Tesla. But now Xpeng in China shows quite remarkable results too. I will buy who wins (in Europe).

    • @peterhelm522
      @peterhelm522 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      If everything works out well, we can have FSD supervised, maybe with reduced functionality in October this year. New UNECE regulations are on their way!

    • @peterhelm522
      @peterhelm522 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Also for the driver it is very difficult to find out which lane is the correct one. The problem here is that the street is stacked, a street with the same name is on top on this one, there is no or a very bad gps signal down there, and i imagine like Jon does, that the map data can not handle this. We dont have these situations in Germany. It is more an edge case.

    In the us on rural roads, we have the same speed limit issues. It thinks rural roads are 25mph, even thou the speed limit is 55 mph. The speed dropping on main road where's the speed limit is 55, there are areas where it constantly will drop to 20mph. But as soon as you touch the accelerator pedal, it shows the speed limit jumping back to 55mph.

    • @OrbitTheSun
      @OrbitTheSun 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With version 2024.8.9, the behavior in Germany is like this: the speed limit is reduced by signs, but is no longer set back to the old value. If you have activated FSD (European version), it is no longer possible to increase the speed limit with the scroll wheel. You have to constantly manually press the pedal to drive normally.

    • @bartboydensbbdenotelaar9317
      @bartboydensbbdenotelaar9317 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OrbitTheSun that's right. Belgian law even has speed limits reset to whatever is valid in rural/normal/highway area at the first next crossing lane at your right. So by law, eventual speed limit has to be repeated within the area at every crossing, causing floods of roadsigns... Speed limit end signs though, are often omitted, so your pedal is your friend until FSD understands Belgian traffic law. Advantage: now paying MORE attention to speed signs than before, a saving on fines money :-)

    19:20, Give Germany some love: I'm afraid this problem of inaccurate speed adjustment is widespread and not isolated to Europe or Germany. My Tesla was on cruise control (TACC) at 70 mph with other cars moving along fine on freeway (in California), then out of the blue my car slowed down as if there were an accident or something. The 70 MAX (in blue) somehow became 25 MAX. Confused at that first time, I immediately disengaged TACC and floored the pedal to accelerate. This happened again off and on that I just had to heighten my awareness whenever I used TACC.

      @ichigo19870 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      FSD will never become unsupervised if the speed limit is not met 100%, doesnt matter if 95% of the cars believe that the speed limit is simply a suggestion and not a law. So enjoy it as long as you can because it might not be available for long. Then again FSD probably need a couple more years to truly become autonomous...

    Elon Musk souring the brand of Tesla is absolutely active in the US as well. I love my car but bought it back when it was still a "cool tech". Recently it has been a bit embarrassing and it is not uncommon when people find out I have a Tesla to be asked with disgust "but what about Elon?". I have family and friends that love EVs and have appreciated what Tesla offers but Elon being so closely tied to the brand and what he posts on Twitter (or X, whatever) rules it out as an option for them.

    I have 2019 Model 3 Performance in the UK, and our Autopilot has the same limitations as Germany i think, except one thing you diddnt mention (not sure if its the same in Germany but i suspect it is) is when using Autopilot the steering angle is limited, so the car is not able to take sharp turns and veers into the oncoming lane while flashing up a steering limited warning... this is something that is very dangerious and tesla really should remove this! I beleive that this is some euro regulation that has had to be added..
