    7:44 Sponsor (Recurrent)
    8:53 Interior Features
    12:16 Driving Experience
    19:00 Conclusion
The new 2024 Tesla Model 3 comes in 2 new colors: stealth gray (free) and Ultra Red ($2,000). This ultra red Long Range dual motor all wheel drive Model 3 with the new 18” photon wheels costs $51,000 before taxes. Starting with the exterior, the most noticeable change is its all new sleek design of the front end that looks to be inspired by the Model S, plus the new slimmer headlights which look like squinting versions of the previous headlights. If given the option I’d prefer keeping the fog lights, but Tesla seems confident enough in the Model 3’s new adaptive headlights. I still prefer the experience of the old ultrasonic sensors which I feel more comfortable with as it showed me and alerted me on the screen with a fairly precise distance when getting too close to an object. That along with more efficient tires and new 18” and 19” wheel designs with removable aero caps for each - all of that has made this new Model 3 the most aerodynamic Tesla ever, with a drag coefficient of just 0.219. However, I drove it exactly the way I drive my own 2018 Model 3, and 275 Wh/mile is about what I get in the winter in my car which has a 252 Wh/mile lifetime efficiency. I didn’t see any drastic improvement in efficiency compared to my 2018 Model 3, but my car is a rear wheel drive compared to this all wheel drive.
This has an all-new telematics control unit with 50% improved cellular and double the Wi-Fi range including dual-band Wi-Fi capabilities, 5G connectivity, and it has improved Bluetooth connectivity so the car should recognize your phone from further away. Hopefully that will also help it recognize the phone better even when you’re right next to the door which seems to be what I experience every now and then with both my Model 3 and Model Y. Just like previous models, there are dual wireless phone chargers under the center screen, but a new change is that this is also the area where the key card is to be placed when using it to put the car into drive compared to the center console area in older models. The rear seats are supposed to be more comfortable, but I personally didn’t feel too much of a difference during my quick time in the back. It’s nice that Tesla was listening to their customers who have pleaded for a traditional blindspot indicator light that’s most commonly found on side mirrors, but this tiny little red dot wasn’t extremely useful in situations where I quickly needed to change lanes.
You can even get a rear wheel drive trim for $40,000 and you still get most of all the features that make this a great vehicle for the long term. I like to think of the 80/20 rule, and the fact is the 20% of things that make up 80% of the satisfaction is still the same: My old Model 3 is still a quick all-electric vehicle that continues to save me from buying gas, it has the best advanced driver assistance system in Autopilot which still performs the same, and it still gets regular software updates along with it still being one of the safest cars ever made.

Lol model 3 is almost 10 years old 2017 with zero changes. If you compare my 2014 honda crv lx to a 2024 its completely different vehicle. Id never in a million years trade my 153,000 mile 2014 honda crv LX for this thing. Glass roofs suck they crack sunroofs suck and crack or seals leak. That's the reason i bought an LX model CRV no sunroof or glass roof bullcrap.Secondly pleather seats/leather seats in general suck winter they're cold in summer they're hot in the summer and they crack. This vehicles a huge piece of sh1t compared to my vehicle period. Not to mention less driving range especially in winter and higher insurance premiums and more expensive repair cost such as tires and everything else.Hell i can get an all new replacement engine for my crap for the cost of tesla tires on this thing.

Turn signal buttons are a pain in the ass to use in Europe where there is a roundabout every 400 yards or so. You have to signal your way out while your steering wheel is anywhere but straight.
At least they could add an optional software feature to auto-signal its way out of a roundabout, by looking at your current nav route

Wait at least 6 more months for Fremont to get their act together and supply the existing reservations. If you can wait, Traditionally at they drop prices of existing inventory towards the end of a quarter. Once you are closer to purchase, bookmark the inventory page with the search for the M3. Then check in daily to look for price variations. I estimate that maybe December late November you might start to see inventory.

Did you drive the old Polestar 2? Polestar 2 refresh should appeal to buyers who don't like the Tesla Model 3 refresh because of the lack of indicator stalks; lack of parking ultrasonic sensors; lack of fog lights; Lack of buttons; and the added advantage of more practicality of the Polestar 2 being a hatchback. The new RWD Polestar 2 single motor’s has 320-mile EPA range and faster charging speed. Other upgrades include an increase of 69 horsepower (299 total) and 118 extra lb-ft of torque (361 lb-ft in all). Additionally, the 440V platform can charge as high as 220 kW, charging 10-80% in 25-28 mins - a 20% speed increase, according to Polestar. Bjørn Nyland youtube video titled “Polestar 2 LR SM refresh charging test” shows the refresh 2024 Polestar 2 has much better charging speed - better than Tesla Model 3 and VW iD4.
Polestar 2 will get the $7500 USA EV Tax credit if you lease the vehicle. The new Polestar 3 will be built in the USA at one of the Volvo factories so will qualify for the EV tax credits. The new 2024 Polestar 4 may also be of interest.

Excellent review. I have the 2018 Model 3 in the same color and feel the same way about keeping it. I bought mine used from Tesla last year and there's no way I'm upgrading. I will say your commentary about the lack of stalks makes me feel more comfortable about a change I still think was unnecessary for the new Model 3. However, whenever I upgrade years down the line, I would consider one in the Highland body style.

I paid off my 2018 Model 3 in five months after buying it used from Tesla in early 2022. Having no payments is a big deal for me at this stage in my life. I am content with my Tesla and have no plans to buy the new Model 3. Instead, I may switch to 18" wheels for a softer ride, but other than that, I'm set. I've got dual motor, long range with accel boost and FSD. Don't really need much more than it already is.

Bought my 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid brand new in late October 2020. Never had a hybrid before and it hooked me on the idea of a fully electric or plug in car. Just made sense to me. Now my RAV 4 is paid off and seriously considering a new M3. Carvana keeps sending me crazy offers to buy my RAV4 (about $8k less than I paid in 2020!). Makes moving into this new Model 3 VERY tempting. Thing is, I've had a Cybertruck on order for over 4 years now and thinking a refreshed MY would probably suit me better (since it will likely be another year or two waiting for the CT). Tesla did send me an email awhile back offering $1,000 off a M3 while I wait. Decisions, decisions..

Pretty happy for now, 'nuff said.

Stalks-less Tesla is a nightmare for a Europe with a lot of very small roundabouts, where you need to turn right turn signal on to exit while the steering wheel is upside-down and arrow to the right is actually is a left turn signal and vice versa. So stalks are the must.

Trading in my 2019 Model 3 MR for the new M3. There are a lot of great improvements with this updated vehicle, but it overwhelmingly came down to the much improved ride quality and cabin quietness. My wife rides in the backseat a lot with our dog and frankly she hates riding back there because it is extremely bouncy (and the front seat is harsh as well). Come to Europe where there are thousands of roundabouts and some have small turn radius. And when you need to indicate while in the roundabout it is a pain without stalks and your steering is more than 90° turned.. Thanks for the comment, and I appreciate the feedback! I say it's similar because most of the 140,000 miles driven on my RWD 2018 Model 3 have come on cheap after-market tires that are not as efficient as the tires on this 2024 Model 3. Had I driven all 140,000 miles on EV-specific tires to maximize efficiency the gap would be even bigger. Unfortunately I don't have a dual-motor to compare apples to apples, but I was hoping it would be closer to 250 Wh/mi in the 2024. I have no doubt that the 2024 AWD is more efficient than previous AWD but I was just hoping for a better efficiency than 275 Wh/mi.
