- This recipe comes from Kerala, where it is adored and is a popular dish made at every household. Super easy, bananas (‘Nendram’ variety that’s predominately available in Kerala), thickly sliced, dipped in a special batter and deep fried till golden. A snack or a dessert? Or both? Well, you decide!
PAZHAM PORI
Ingredients
3 nethram bananas
2 cups refined flour
¼ cup rice flour
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsps black sesame seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Filter coffee for serving
Method
1. Take refined flour in a bowl. Add rice flour, sugar, black sesame seeds, turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Add 1 ¾ cups water and mix well to form thick batter.
2. Peel the bananas and slice vertically.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip the sliced bananas n prepared batter and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper and serve with filter coffee.
