South Indian Banana Leaves Puttu | Puttu Without Puttu Maker

- Ingredients
Banana -2 or 3 nos
Rice flour - 1 1/2 cup
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Salt - 1 or 2 tsp
Method
Heat water in a steamer and cover and boil them well. Then peel the banana and set it aside.then chopped into thin slices and set aside.cleaned the banana leaf sheets with neat clothes and set them aside.Take a bowl, add rice flour and salt, and mix well.Now we add a little by little amount of water and mix them well with our fingers.Take one sheet of banana leaves and roll it.Insert the stem into the middle of the leaf.
Place the rolled banana leaves on an idli mould plate.Then layer with grated coconut.Then layered with rice flour mixNow we have to layer with chopped banana.Again, we have to add rice flour mixFinally, we add grated coconut and level it up.Then do the same with the remaining rice flour mix.Then place the rice flour roll in a steamer.steam for 12 to 13 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.Serve the tasty banana leaf rice steam cake with tea or coffee.

Super healthy food for blood pressure, cholestro, and diabetics; also for weight loss. Also tried it with chemba rice powder. You can have it with regular bananas, yeththa pazham (plantain bananas), boiled green grams, pappads, kadala curry (black channa curry). Will be ultimate. Will keep you filled for 3-4 hours for sure.

I am from Sri Lanka and discovered that the Sri Lankan lifestyle had been influenced by Kerala ex: Food culture, New Year, architecture, some religious practices, etc. But historians don't say about it.
I am a Keralite who never been in to SriLanka. But I already knew about the cultural connections throughout the travel videos. There are some facts you should know.
First of all, Sri Lankans and Indians are genetically belongs to the same group. The Sinhalese people are the descendants of those who migrated from Indian subcontinent around 2500 years ago. It's no wonder they continued many of the common cultural and food habits of Indo-Aryan people.
Secondly, as SriLanka is very close to south India, kingdoms in south India and Srilanka has engaged in trade and war throughout history. So the should have influenced each other in a positive way.
Thirdly, there is a community in Kerala called Ezhava who is believed to be migrated from Srilanka according to some historians.

Not only the food but the traditional architecture of Srilanka and Kerala is also very similar. You can Google traditional Srilankan houses and Kerala houses. You will be surprised
SriLanka was a part of india before the continental drift. All of its fauna and flora are the great proof.
